  1. Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been on here, but my dad found some old slides of him, his mom, and their friends, at Kings Island in 73. I couldn't help but share them, so here you go. Enjoy!

  2. Taking KI questions Wednesday from 7:00pm to 7:30pm on Twitter (@KingsIslandPR). Questions such as "Red Racer or Blue Racer" acceptable.

  4. Just another example of how Kings Island has the best public relations in the industry.

  5. I'm willing to go as far as saying that Outer Hanks is the glue that holds the park together. We are blessed to have it.

  6. Don, I got quite a laugh out of the title. Very clever!

  7. That would solve it, but like most anything, it would take some time. I have often thought the same thing; simply, there aren't any other attractions or food stands on the trip. Because you definitely walk longer distances to get to a ride in the back of the park.. but you wouldn't notice the distance as much since you can easily ride something else or get distracted by taking in the park ambiance.

  9. I think the walk back to Flight Deck only seems as long as it is (about two minutes from midway to station with a quick stride) because there's really nothing to look at during the walk, so all you notice is putting one foot in front of the other. So here's an idea I just had: Now that SOB is out of the way, take out half to two-thirds of the queue and exit for Flight Deck and extend the AZ midway back that way. Then put in several rides along the new stretch of midway (I'm thinking small flats here like Flying Eagles, a Tilt-A-Whirl, etc.). A major coaster to replace SOB (if they go that route) could have it's entrance/exit back here also, or up where Thunder Alley used to be. You could also put a food or snack stand back here as well. Now the walk back to Flight Deck probably won't seem as long because you can stop and look at the flats, grab a thimble-sized cup of ice water, maybe be distracted when a train on the brand-spanking-new record-breaking coaster that replaced SOB (yeah, right ) roars overhead, and by the time you reach what's left of the Flight Deck queue, you've barely noticed the length of the walk. This would also have benefit of simplifying the queues for Club Blood, Wolf Pack, and Flight Deck during Haunt, as it would no longer be necessary to reconfigure the FD exit to serve as the entrance for all three. Anybody else like this, or am I missing something obvious (other than cost) as to why this wouldn't work?

  10. Not really a ride, but since others are talking about overhauling specific areas of the park... I would retheme Festhaus to play off Cincinnati's rich German heritage - German food, German beer, a restored clock and shows that reflect the general theme of the building and the original "Oktoberfest" area.

  17. In other news, the ride this is advertising has been named as The Smiler. Which is, in my opinion, one of the worst names for an extreme roller coaster ever. I can understand it going along with the whole, "Ministry of Joy" themeing that it has going on, but The Smiler just seems awkward for it.

  18. I love hanging out at outer hanks, its such a nice place to rest and relax. Its one of my favorite locations in the park and I look forward to hanging out there for years to come.

  20. I know this post is just a tad late but I am so happy you are doing this again...I absolutely love when you post these topics every year. I may not comment too much on them but I sure do love looking at the pictures and thinking of how I remembered Kings Island as a little kid

  21. Same article. Now obviously you will have the group that accidentally trips and falls, though that does not make it a public issue. We have been using streets and sidewalks for centuries now, if it was such a problem we would in this day and age stopped using the design.

  23. Probably b/c he's the only one that we know for sure reads this forum and responds back that has connections to the higherups in the park. I doubt anyone assumes Don does everything, but everyone assumes he knows somebody who handles all the various aspects w/n the park.

  26. SoB is down and the station is being used. Vortex has stopped sinking. TR is no more, and the building is being used. There is no new ride for 2013 & FD will be here for it's 20th. It seems to be time for the Tower Johnny talk to start up.

  28. I'd re-theme Boo Blasters to something that looked like an old, rundown theater. Then on the inside I'd add characters that looked like ghosts of the old performers. I'd have one of them playing an old organ in the ride queue, and throughout the ride I'd have all the ghost performers doing their act. I think that would be a great ride!

  29. Insert the url with a protocol of http instead of https (secure HTTP). Since YouTube now uses https by default when you log in, the forum software should be updated to recognize these URLs. Until then, just change https:// to http://

  30. I see others have been successful at embedding a youtube video since the theme change, but I was have not. Before I would just copy the address bar url and paste it in the forum and it showed up. Not having such luck now. Below is a link I was trying to use in another thread. What am I doing wrong?

  31. I like how International Street is actually a street. Why change what works? Both Paramount and Cedar Fair are guilty of taking out or changing parts of that park that didn't need change or de-themeing.

  35. What do you mean what will Coney do in the future? Coney will keep on providing family entertainment as an amusement and water park. Coney is in no way directly connected to River Downs or its owners.

  40. I'm now beginning to narrow down the list of challenges by removing all that a posted photo qualifies for, rather than removing only the exact challenge answered and leaving similar challenges up; the goal is to see how small the list can get by Opening Day. Let's see how many I can delete with this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/5957964237/'> Hard - Any flat ride at night - VortexBFForever Hard - Any ride in Coney Mall at night - VortexBFForever Easy - WindSeeker, seen from anywhere except the Eiffel Tower - Original Hard - WindSeeker in action at night - VortexBFForever Hard - WindSeeker's light package at night - VortexBFForever (×2) Five challenges with one photo isn't bad! Now for the "new" challenges (actually, I personally am only reusing previous challenges at this point to keep from making the list any longer): Easy: Backlot Stunt Coaster (Original) Hard: Railroad crossing on the walkway between Soak City and the main park (SonofBaconador) Expert: Kings Island skyline, NOT taken from I-71, Kings Island Drive, or the parking lot (DropZone99)

  41. He informed us at Coasting for Kids that he has chosen to retire from riding The Racer at 11,999 rides. I take it that means that he will not get number 12,000. He rode #11,999 with me.
