  1. Weekend Beast Bonus Photos*** - Beast Lake One of my favorite photos^
  2. Photo #27 - America's Longest Coaster - The Beast Notice the 4 row cars thus the capacity would be 40 riders per train. vs the now 3 row cars with 36 riders per train
  3. I would predict a lot of wooden fences for AZ this coming season. :}
  4. ^I didn't know Honey Boo Boo posted on KI's facebook.
  5. Photo #26 - Action FX Theater - 2006
  6. I drove past the park today, and from KI Drive the only remaining part of the water tower were the 4 legs.
  7. And some parents will tell their kids they rode Beast back when it had a loop.
  8. You know how when you clean your house, you tend to keep it that way for as long as you can because it is easy to keep it that way? When you have guests over they also tend to be more cautious about keeping their mess to a minimum and cleaning up after themselves. I believe the same goes for Amusement Parks. Parks that are organized, and continuously keep their establishment clean I have found to have less litter from guests. Disney always has a very polished look and is extremely clean and I found myself holding on to my trash until I found a bin to toss it. Kings Island (unfortunately) even with its trillions of trash cans cant get that same result. I don't think the amount of trash cans one park helps it become cleaner, if anything it makes the park look worse and dirtier. It comes down to if the guests feel uncomfortable littering because of the parks current state. It takes extra money to keep a park as big as KI clean, but its results can have a huge impact on yearly attendance.
  9. The dinosaur movie is making Action Theater fat? Is it that it's eating too many dinos, or is it the fact that the dino movie killed the "action" part of it's name, so that it's not getting enough exercise?
  10. I joined in Utah. Random fact.
  11. ...or not answering them, as the case may be. "What iz y'all peeps puttin in next year,? Wheeze won't tale."
  12. Photo #24 - Phantom Theater
  13. Well, someone forgot to give me the memo today at the meeting, welcome to the forums, Jim Halpert.
  14. I found the site via Google when I was considering buying my first season pass in May 2010. I lurked until late July of that year, when I finally registered to ask a question (I forget exactly what it was about), the answer to which I needed before a trip to KI with my mother coming up in a few days. Unfortunately, it took nine days for an admin to approve my account so that I could post, by which time it was too late for the question (which had been resolved in a different manner anyway). I stuck around anyway, mostly lurking with occasional posts until that offseason, when I became more active.
  15. I just busted out laughing at work when I read this. Everyone probably thinks I'm crazy here.
  16. Yes, I meant waisted ,not wasted! I love Shrek.
  17. Well, if you are going to call Rivertown a concrete jungle, there is not much actual concrete in it. It is more of an asphalt jungle than concrete. Just saying.
  18. All of this really makes me sad. Sad that I never got to experience it, that is. I went to Kings Island during the Hanna-Barbera days and when everything was themed to a Paramount movie, but I don't remember it at all. :'(
  19. I've been a member since 2007. I would not want to see my first couple of posts... Considering I was really young at the time.
  20. I joined July 2005 apparently! The days feel like years... in the best way! I would've been 14 then. I'm mortified to imagine what my posts might've been like.
  21. I joined back in 2010, when I was still just a reader. Since I didn't visit KI between 2003 and 2012 - or any Cedar Fair park between 2008 and 2012 - I never found a reason to post. There would usually be something interesting here to read, though, and I'd end up helping my family with their visits to KI and beyond. After reading enough about new management at Cedar Fair, I finally decided to see for myself what a decade had done to KI. As my interest grew, I asked a couple questions here and popped into a few threads. (Somehow, the 2-day ticket became a season pass, two days became six, and a few posts became a few hundred. I blame the Customer Service attendant at Kroger who upsold me.)
  22. 2009. That was the year I really got into roller coasters (thanks to Diamondback), so I joined here to talk about it.
  23. Photo #23 - Flying Dutchman I wonder if it would be a "good" marketing strategy to "bring back the classics" in lets say bringing Flying Dutchman back from Kentucky Kingdom and Flying Eagles back from Carowinds.
  24. Photo #22 This is when Coney had it!
  25. It'll be better. I can't wait to ride it. One might say I'm craving it. Crypt, who cross threads here and there.
  26. I don't think, I know, why do you like to ask questions Terp? BB1 trying to create a paradox of questions of questions. How is this a paradox? I'll just let that stay a question, to my questions, to Terp's questions, to those questions that were started by this paradox, and the more questions that may arise from this question of a question which is of a question.
  27. It was, but it's gone now. And there is a difference between a highly congested path and a wall of wood. To me, Adventure Express is one of those rides that is in a whole other scene than the rest of the park, and if a path went right past it, I feel like it would ruin the ambiance of the ride.
  28. You could see Son of Beast from everywhere in the park--Oktoberfest, Coney, even as far as Rivertown.Removing a ride in plain sight could also be good publicity. Turn the news into a "what's next?" sort of scenario. Well, There are those who will notice a difference in the sky when KI opens and look up to realize that a big wooden structure isn't towering over them, and there are the other people who will go up in the Eiffel Tower and look down to see big footprints and ask what the cleared land is for. Then in the end there are those who wont notice a change at all.
  29. Of possible interest, the judge in this case retired shortly after the ruling in December: http://www.courierpress.com/news/2012/dec/14/judge-recognized-for-service-on-the-bench/ Another good read from that paper: http://www.courierpress.com/news/2008/jun/15/holidayevery-day/
  30. I joined in November 2011. Mainly for news on The Crypt.
  31. Visitors even back then were tossing stuff in to the water. I can just imagine....
  32. But see The Crypt. Or not, as the case may be. How does that fit in to your logic? Terp, who likes to ask questions.
  33. I joined in Jan of 08, specifically for Diamondback news. Ironically, since the 09 season, I could very happily never ride it again. Every single ride ive taken in 10, 11, and 12 were due to simply riding because a Friend or Friends I was with wanted to ride.
  34. Aww, good ol' Rivertown! This is how I remember it. Not the concrete city jungle it is now.
  35. ^ You can still comment on KI's own posts, but you can't make new posts (i.e. start a new "thread") of your own on their timeline anymore.
  36. Who is "SH0X"? Isn't that some kind of shoe?
  37. I'm waiting to see how many of the idiots that frequented the KI Facebook page find their way here.
  38. Without the flag or giant "TEXAS", of course.
  39. This ride (drop of doom) was so unexpectedly amazing! It ended up being one of my favorite rides at the park.
  40. That looks like a good option!
  41. ...And everyone rejoices.
  42. I found it on ebay, after the auction was posted in a thread on this forum about ebay items. On another note, despite having owned the album for around a month, I just realized that the last song, "On the Beautiful Blue Danube" is, in fact, the same piece played by the carousels in the original Roller Coaster Tycoon.
  43. Oh how I miss this ride. Simple but fun.
  44. Diversion? Terp, ever helpful.
  45. Not sure where to begin with this one. I do. As being one who has been on two different 4D coasters and two different Wing Rider coasters, let me settle this long dispute between the two by saying... Wingriders in no way compare to the amazingness of 4D Coasters!!!! One coaster literally sends your definition of gravity, whats up and whats down, out the door. The other gives the sensation of flying, while keeping your sense of direction in play. I wasn't wow'ed by any of the wing rider (X-Flight, Wild Eagle) coasters. Yes they are fun, but as soon as I hit the final breaks the same thing keeps running through my mind, "Meh, I'm over it". Where-as both 4D coasters (eejanaika, X2) left me completely awe struck.
  46. I simply can't drive by the park without looking at the Eiffel Tower. I tried once, and was completely surprised to see the Tennis Stadium!
  47. I went to church on Sunday. There were lots of suits there. I said SOB and they kicked me out! I guess even they don't want to hear it
