  2. ^I say that since Vortex is no longer visible on that webcam, they're trying to hide the fact that it's sinking. *DISCLAIMER: Vortex is not actually sinking. This post is an attempt at humor and should in no way be taken seriously.
  3. Admission to school sports events? They're really going to tax us when we pay $3 to go to a high school football game?
  4. Sorry kids, Pacman is now 27¢ to play.
  5. Kings Island is a place to have fun. I don't understand why some people can't. Their is more to life than parks and rides.
  6. ^ We had lots of fun in the "antique" section of CP's arcade last year. We loved playing all those old mechanical games and the pinball machines!
  7. Pinball....The sign on the arcade near Maverick's entrance Reads, "Pinball". We asked the attendant where the pinball machines were, he said, "In the antique section up near the entrance". Told him that the sign was false advertising. He looked at me like I was the craziest old fart he'd crossed paths with in a month. Kasich better leave my pinballs alone!!
  8. I'd venture to say that Kasich's office fielded an angry phone call from Sandusky this morning.
  9. Your correct the photo should be flipped around, typically when people scan slides its common for photos to be reversed.
  10. I don't understand why some are making a huge deal about the so-called long walk to Flight Deck. I believe that area in the back of the park where you're secluded from the regular screams coming from the other rides is so peaceful and also somewhat pretty too. Enjoy nature! Love the trees!
  11. Yes. Weather and the national economy will be major factors. That and the 2013....
  12. ...then maybe you should listen to us 'fanboys' instead of being a know it all,im pretty sure you wouldnt act like that out from behind your computer at the park, but I wish you would,Jr for Birdy will be there all summer! If the park listened to the fanboys, there would be no park because it would be out of business. Why? Because they would invest all their money in giving the guests "something to do" while in line for Flightdeck. Instead of, you know, making investments in something the park actually needs and the general public actually want. You stick to riding the rides and the powers that be, will stick to making the decisions that's best for the park. Since you brought it up, what I say "from behind my computer" echoes what I would say to anyone else in person. Don't like it? I don't care.

  14. If the walk back to Flight Deck is too long for you to ride the ride, you should probably reevaluate your health lol. Jesus people, it isn't like it's 5 miles. I personally don't mind the walk back there at all. It's shady, gives a nice view of the ride, and secluded from the rest of the park.
  15. So, other than the fact this clown is just another piece of **** puketician like all the others in this Country, could someone please explain to me the point of adding an admissions tax, while LOWERING sales tax and state income tax? Would it not make more sense to leave it as is?? The only reason I can see for this jacka$$es proposal, is to screw people like me from out of state. Well, KaSUCKich, I have news for ya pal, Ive got parks I can go to in Indiana and Missouri just as easily as I can go to the ones in Ohio.
  16. The Jitney arcade also advertises a Derby game, which is not in there either.
  17. How can I say this without being political and violating the TOS? Here goes... As anyone who has seen my Facebook page can see, I've been critical of Kasich in the past, especially in the area of school funding. Our school district was hit hard when the tangible personal property tax was done away with (which my district depended on heavily) in the name of attracting new industry to the state. Then, a few days ago, his proposed changes to school funding were announced, and I highly approved of them. In fact, last night Channel 19 interviewed the superintendent of our district, who said the changes would benefit the district greatly (although not making up totally for the losses we incurred a few years ago). And now this. I was there, along with other KIC members, for the Mason City Council meeting in which their proposed admission tax was voted down. I'm not going to rehash all the negative consequences of an admission tax... you can search for that discussion on this site yourself. Anyone want to make a trip to Coumbus? (And a tax on coin operated video games & pinball machines? Seriously?)
  18. Welcome to OHIO where your FUN will be taxed to death!
  19. If you really don't care what he says, you wouldn't keep bringing it up. Two things: if you could care less, then you do care some (unless you were just careless), and bringing it up again gives credence to his views. We don't typically bring up things that don't bother us in this world. Terp, just notin'
  20. I didnt read anybody complain about the walk,Im pretty sure many of us believe something could be added on or off the path to bring more people that direction.I for one, only walk back to ride FD when the park is busy because I know many dont know it even exists or they dont want to walk any further around the big ass amusement park than they already have! I understood exactly what jcgoble is talking about, and if you work for the park then maybe you should listen to us 'fanboys' instead of being a know it all,im pretty sure you wouldnt act like that out from behind your computer at the park, but I wish you would,Jr for Birdy will be there all summer! I agree w/ the first part of this completely. The biggest problems Flight Deck faces are that its generally hidden within the park so you have few opportunities for a visual "hey lets go ride that thing" experience, and there is little to attract to you into the area of the que. You've got (had) the shutdown SOB, the upcharge skyflyer, the unpopular and now removed go-karts, plus the regularly down for maintenance Invertigo & Delirium (which really are not all that close but we'll throw them in there) There is drop zone and Amazon falls, but neither of those ques takes you directly in the path for Flight Deck. If SOB was operational (and popular) I suspect that ridership on flightdeck would be very high. Its a fun coaster, family friendly and a unique experience in the park. Unfortunatly, its not a coaster that draws you in. As I said you can't see it, and most people in the park have ridden it in the past, so it no longer holds "must ride" status for the casual KI visitor. The Action Zone revamp, could eventually lead to a surge in flight deck popularity. My 4 year old will be 48" tall this summer, so personally I hope the que remains short so we can get on/off quickly many times this summer.
  21. Only if you paid money beyond the park admission each time you rode Diamondback. Probably means the park would have to pay a portion of the revenue generated on extreme flyer each time a "ride" is purchased. I'll assume the admission and rides is there for state fairs and whatnot where you pay for each ride rather than a straight admission.
  22. It says tax on admission and rides. Does that mean it will cost 10 cents to ride Diamondback?
  23. Well my highschool football team isn't very good
  24. A new ride on a weekend will have a longer wait than just two hours. Just sayin'
  25. It would presumably work like it does now with vending machines, where sales tax is included in the posted price. The appropriate percentage of sales would simply be remitted to the state, and prices may or may not be adjusted upwards to compensate. By the way, it's mentioned that sales tax rates would go down to partially offset the expanded tax. I'm quite certain that counties would be quick to raise them back up.
  26. Ugh. More taxes, eh? You know, there aren't enough asterisks to mask how I feel about just about every American politican right now.
  27. ^ I just thought of something too. I liked your comment about enjoying the trees by the way. My thought was once something moves in next door to Flight deck, whether it be 2014 or 2015, either way, that long queue might be beneficial again one day. Can you imagine a busy weekend with the new ride. The new ride will command a 2 hour wait, those that don't want to wait will add to Flight decks line.
  28. Well, Dino is getting expanded this year, right?
  29. yes i know but just thought i shared in case someone didnt know.Wait, what?I don't think that is how it works around here. Am I wrong, please correct me if I am wrong. Sorry i didnt see there was already a recent post about this on here.
  30. "Fanboys", or as I refer to them as enthusiasts, go to the park so often, they recognize the little things, most often in a negative light. They also have this belief they are entitled to certain things because they visit the park often. The majority of park guests, non-enthusiasts, do not recognize all the little things like a boring 2 minute walk to a ride. The park makes decisions for the majority of their guests. Do they listen to enthusiasts? Sure. But the park cannot act on every enthusiast demands or they would go out of business because enthusiasts will never be satisfied.
  31. Or a diversion from one?
  32. Flight deck is 2,352 long while TTD is 2800 feet. TTD is actually longer than flight deck I never would have thought to compare the two, but that's really interesting that Top Thrill is longer. It sure doesn't feel like it though!
  33. Photo #37 - Halley's Comet Sign (back) - Originally from Coney Island Shooting Star.
  34. What he said. Literally.
  35. excuse me for bringing in logic here for just a moment. If the queue line is in the way, then the queue line could be shortened, not a big deal. The queue line is what 5 feet wide? Seperated by a grassy median? If the park wanted to expand that way, dont think the queue line would be in the way.... plus a non filled queue line is not a good reason to destroy an entire ride....
  36. I like Flight Deck's queue line, and that it sits back from the other rides. Not every ride has to have a queue made up of big ugly concrete pads with a bunch of turnstiles. And the line is hardly in the way of any future park expansion.
  37. Physical exertion has nothing to do with it. It's the lack of anything to keep us occupied on the way back that is the problem. Keep you occupied? It's a que(sp?) line for a ride. It's sole purpose is to line people up to ride the ride and it does just that. What more do you want? It would "do just that" if the line of people waiting to ride was actually still long enough to fill most of the queue. As it is, I would not be surprised if the long walk to get back there turns people off from the idea of riding it. It's also wasted space, particularly now that SOB is out of the way. Except when there is a line for the ride it does what it's supposed to; queue people up. Still not sure what point you're trying to make. Wasted space? Huh? SOB was never "in the way" seeing how it was built after Flightdeck.
  38. Thanks. For the life of me, I will NEVER remember the proper spelling of that work. Good lookin out.
  39. I have two zippos from the park. Last years saw some in the Diamondback gift shop.
  40. Nearly all of The Tomb Raider props were removed for a reason. Not just because they didn't suit The Crypt. Put them back and things could get interesting, exciting (for IP types), and probably costly. To put it mildly.
  41. Physical exertion has nothing to do with it. It's the lack of anything to keep us occupied on the way back that is the problem.
  42. A "fix up" to a ride has to be much more likely than more track being added. Are there many instances where additional track has been combined to an existing coaster? On the flipside, SoB would have been more enjoyable for me had the rose bowl been removed entirely! (so long as it still ran in a circuit ofcourse)
  43. I hear it's being renamed to "Backlot Stunt Coaster."That's just the word from under the black hat, so to speak.
  44. Or....a diversion. Terp, being good.
  45. We do? What specifically about the inversion caused the problems? Terpy, ever curious.
  46. Guest
Well Universal had that and SeaWorld has recently adopted the program. I had to cover my mouth so not to wake up some family members in the next room! That completely made my day!
