I love how there's so many people in this thread who have come here to remind us how much they dislike a certain member's posts. Yet, they only post infrequently and if they do it's to: 1) Perpetuate their own inside jokes. or 2) Complain about the site. Hey, if you guys don't like the topic, don't post. Don't like a member's post? Say why respectively in regards to the topic or just ignore it. There's no need for constant "cryptic," overly sarcastic dead pan sarcasm coming from certain fans of The Beast (did you get the joke, guys?). Actually, if you think about his posts, they make a lot of sense. What has Beastfan26 contributed to KIC or any thread lately? Nice of you to stop by after all these years. Do you just come back around for attention? Discuss the topics at hand and if you're only here to bash other members or post your "woe is me, KIC sucks now" sarcasm, then go away and leave the site for others to enjoy.10 points

I was just at Coney Island's site to check out their hours of operation this summer and found this: "Check back soon for the 2103 operating calendar." I like to plan ahead, but......8 points

That would be nice for people that live in the middle of the two parks, but Kings Island draws customers from parts of the country that Cedar Point does not, and vice versa. I know that in my home, which is an hour north of Kings Island and three hours south of Cedar Point, the mentality is why travel three hours when you can do basically the same thing an hour away? Even though this isn't entirely true, I am sure that my family is not the only one who thinks like that. Personally, I feel that Cedar Point and Kings Island are two entirely different parks, and should each operate individually, rather than specializing on family at one location, and thrills at the other. If the parks were closer, then maybe that would be acceptable, but there are people Sandusky and Mason looking for both thrills and family-friendliness.5 points

Just once, I would have liked to talk about what the OP posted about, TOPGUN1993 in this case. I finally saw an opportunity to discuss this topic, but as soon as I opened it up, I already realized that the topic had been hijacked by "diversion" talk and facepalm pictures. That force the OP to just edit their original entry because they realize it's pointless to even continue. It is something like this that make me not want to be a part of this site anymore. I come here to discuss the topics in the title, not the "diversion." If all the topics start turning to "diversions" then what's the point of even posting? I'm sorry Interpreter, but I don't know what definition you are using for diversion, because when I looked it up on Merriam-Webster it said something that it would be the act of providing entertainment. In reality it ticks me off that it's done one all kinds of topics throwing people off. I'm not entertained. I would rather be entertained by the original topic than a "diversion."4 points

The one thing certain in business is that unpredictable things can and do happen. Barring that, Cedar Fair sees Kings Island as one of its most important assets.3 points

*Peeks his head in* Nope, nothing's changed. I'll get my diversions elsewhere. Like Universal Studios.3 points

There literally were a ton of footers. They might have taken them out for various reasons. Look at the area where these footers are, not much grass. They might have been taken out to allow for the land to heal and grow grass again. They could have been in the way of an expansion of a a walk way, a new maintenance building coming in, etc. As of now, everything is speculation.3 points

And for people in my area that are 2 hours away from both parks, the free water park is the deciding factor. That is what wins a lot of people over.2 points

Amen to that. I'd like to see lower taxes AND less government spending.2 points

The flaw with that theory is as follows. Business people are business people to do one thing... and one thing only.... make money. IF said sales tax is lowered on said park merchandise and food, dont think for a Brooklyn second that CF, the Cincinnati Reds, Joe's Bowling Alley, etc etc WON'T add that lower price right back onto the unit price on the back end to put that extra few cents in their pockets. In doing this, they can say "Look at how GREAT we are!! We didnt pass the higher taxes onto you, the consumer, because our prices didnt go up". Well, yes they did, you as a business owner simply added a bit more to your personal pocketbook. One thing to consider, corporations don't "pay" taxes, their customers do. Coke pays taxes every year based upon their revenue, land holdings, etc... Those taxes are factored into what they charge us the consumers for a bottle of Coke. Procter & Gamble pay taxes every year based upon all the 1,000s of things they sell. Those taxes are factored into what they charge for Tide and everything else. GM pays taxes on cars, those taxes are factored into what they charge the dealer to purchase their car (the dealer then in turn factors into his price what he charges us for his taxes) Its obviously not quite that simple, but keep in mind that the Reds, Cedar Fair, Joe's Bowling alley, etc... are already paying taxes to the state of ohio each year. Those taxes are factored into what they charge for admission, a game of bowling, shoe rentals,etc.... You may not see a "tax" line item on your bill every time you buy a Reds ticket, but make no mistake, there are taxes figured into what you're paying for a pair of moon deck seats on a saturday afternoon. In a smilar vain, many like to say that you get "free pop" everytime you go to holiday world. You may not be charged for soda during the day, but that cost of all the soda has been factored into your admission ticket and you are indeed paying for that privledge no matter if you decide to take advantage of it or not.2 points

Tax 101: If it makes you smile, they tax it. I always wondered why people thought George Harrison was a hippy?2 points

However, not all parks in the Cedar Fair chain offer gold passes. It is either a standard season pass or a platinum, no in between. For passholders of five parks (I think the all five former Paramount Parks still have Gold) to get unlimited parking at every park in the chain is not very fair to the other parks and their visitors, and it also is a pretty good deal. Can't we just be happy with what we have?2 points

Yes. Weather and the national economy will be major factors. That and the 2013....2 points

Canada's Wonderland does not, and I don't recall ever having, a Gold Pass option. The regular pass had always included perks like food and merch discounts, early entry and ERT even in the Paramount days. The regular pass doesn't include parking though, there's an optional add-on for that.1 point

I am so borrowing that picture! Lol. I've not been a fan of Kasich since he took office, but this really ticks me off.1 point

Thats true and what this "future expansion" actually turns out to be could actually be what everyone least expected........1 point

You might have hit the nail on the head with your definition. We're all so zoned in on rides, myself included, we're not thinking of what else can be entertaining. My personal bet is on a show/experience like Luminosity, but the idea of a boardwalk or something like that would be boss. Tombstone Territory in LeSourdesville didn't have much of anything at all in it. (I recall there was one ride installed very late in the game, looking botchy in the Old West theme) but it always had people milling through it.1 point

Future park expansion...I think it really came down to while the construction crews were there, it just made sense to take them out now, rather than later.1 point

Yeah but I Don'tWantToWaitToFindOut.... Also, one of my favorite things on this site so far has been reading the thead that predicted X-Base a few years before the arrival of Firehawk and creation of X-Base. So why not try to play psychic and have our prediction saved in type?1 point

There are things I can answer. And things I can't. This falls in that latter category. The best in fun...now playing. As for diversion, you can also view the same information by putting in the word at http://www.m-w.com.1 point

Nope, I would do the same thing all over again. I got to work my Eli Bridge Ferris Wheel that day, with a person that I am still great friends with to this day, even though he last worked at Coney back in 2009. I`m getting ready to start my 12th season at Coney. Going to start the hiring process here in about a month. (Anyone that would be interested in working at Coney, fill out an application on Coney`s website at www.coneyislandpark.com). Its hard to believe how quickly time flies. It seems like just yesterday I was starting work at Coney.1 point

Heck, even the KIC event that we had back in 2008 required a cost. I too miss Ride Warrior Coaster Weekend at Kings Island, and only participated in the first of the two days, due to school requirements. (I was also silly and left the park for a few hours for an afternoon shift at Coney before returning to Kings Island to ride Diamondback until 1am).1 point

Yes, it is for FUN, but those of us who have been here for a very long time can say it has at least SIX other purposes, from education to fellowship to collaboration to commiseration and on and on. At times, we have dealt with the joys of new life, with the sadness of deaths of family members, friends and even members. Like much of life, to a very large extent, this place is what we make it. Civility is important, yes. That being said, each of us brings a different tone, level of interest, level of information, willingness and/or ability to share information, etc. to this here place. Some who have the most information or insight to share may APPEAR to be the least gracious when in fact that is very seldom the case. Also, many here have known each other for a good many years. Others have not even met. What may appear to be rude may be gentle ribbing. It's paramount we be amused, entertained and informed. It's more important that we not be misinformed on matters of great importance. Stick around a while and the carousel of life will take many turns, some grand and good, others more difficult to accept. If we can help with that, this place has served its porpoise.1 point

Then why does it begin: "As a result of our negotiations with the state..."? Why is the sentence structure flowing as it does, as if the second sentence is meant to lessen any anticappointmemt?* Does it not seem the entire statement is full of howevers, tentativity, provideds and mild reassurances? And isn't this the week we were to hear the results of the intense look at the park and its condition? Terp, who likes to ask questions. *A term from RRC aka rec.roller-coaster.1 point

It's hard to fathom that the ride-ops in that picture are likely all in their mid to late forties. Suddenly, I definitely feel in my dotage.1 point
