  8. 2 and 1/2 years ago Shaggy very early on nailed what Dino Alive was going to be. I don't remember which topic it was, but on like the 4th of hundreds of posts he described DA very well and then it quickly got buried in coaster speculation. From experience, I recommend paying close attention to Shaggy's posts.

  10. Unless, of course, you are referring to http://www.gigaloops.com/ What I, personally, am really hoping for is an upgraded/new Dippin Dots Depot in Action Zone! Having to walk all the way across the park from AZ just to get to the depot really grinds my gears.............but I digress. Edit - forgot AZ

  11. I`d like to get out to Canada`s Wonderland one day. The park seems like a wonderful park, and I have heard nothing but good reviews about it. That being said, on the topic of a B&M hyper and giga in the same park. What is the difference between that, and say a park having two wooden coasters? They are both the same type of ride. Different layouts, height and speed and different experiences. I don`t see what the issue is with Canada`s Wonderland having two similar coasters. As long as it is an investment and a new ride (especially if it turns out to be a new roller coaster), I will be happy. And the general public will love it, I`m sure. How many people in the general public consider Diamondback to be one of the best coasters in the park? Quite a few. Anything in that spot will certainly bring some life and energy back to Action Zone. And since Kings Island is a business, hopefully some more attendance and revenue.

  12. I was able to visit KI today because of weather issues giving me a day off from work! Like most of my trip reports, I'll keep this one short and sweet! Walk-ons on most rides, including Firehawk, Diamondback, and Vortex. I had only ridden Surf Dog once prior to today, and it is pretty fun! Seat 5-1 on Vortex did feel a little different than the others to me. Dodgem car #35 did feel a little faster to me than the others, but I didn't get to try #9. My girlfriend finally knew what B&M meant when I said something about it! I guess being annoying pays off eventually They were doing a silent walk-through of Rock n Roll Never Forgets in Festhaus today. It was interesting to see people up there dancing in sync and not hearing any music! Whatever happens with Project 2014, I am excited about it. Just a few thoughts from an impromptu trip! If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and thanks for reading!

  14. Playing the devil's advocate, I don't believe that trip report as far as I can throw it. And since it's a digital representation of a non-physical entity, I can't throw it very far. (If I'm not mistaken, this is the second time in this thread I've made that joke.) I remember watching a news video about Diamondback's announcement and the anchor insisted that the layout showed three loops, and the Dinosaurs Alive "map" thing with lines was heavily speculated to be a coaster...and it turned out to be a sidewalk. As far as I'm concerned, it ain't over until the fat lady sings. Or track pieces show up; whichever comes first.

  19. Cedar Fair says it wants to not limit participation by all demographics. Don't be surprised if you are not thrown for a loop. The LAST thing KI wants to do is remind guests of Son of Beast. Why on earth?

  20. Alright we get it. You think it's a B&M Giga, no need to repeat yourself over and over.......

  21. What did they expect a call to 911 to accomplish? People like this need to be given their money back & escorted to an exit. An attempt to enter the park again and you will face trespassing charges. And shame on any media outlet reporting this non-story.

  22. I've been surprised that the state has been as cooperative as they have been. There's sure no love lost between Lunsford and the governor, and I've always had the feeling Beshear would like nothing more than to see the site turned into a casino (like that will ever happen). Personally, I would like to see the park move somewhere on the outskirts of the Ville so it would have more room to expand, and the traffic wouldn't be as bad.

  23. Ed Hart and Bruce Lunsford could easily self fund this project with not one dime of outside financing. The fact that they haven't and in fact asked for this extension of the walkaway period speaks volumes. The fact a bank wouldn't lend the requested amount on this also speaks volumes. The fact there were no other bidders, likewise. The crickets? That's the loudest scary factor of all.

  25. No, this is Patrick. But in all seriousness, I once heard someone who insisted they rode the Batman ride at Kings Island that killed a bunch of people. I decided that convincing them that nobody ever died was a losing battle, so I tried to inform them that Six Flags owns the Batman license. They then insisted that Six Flags used to own Kings Island... Though there ARE six flags atop the Coney Mall arch...

  26. While On Backlot Stunt Coaster on Monday Morning.. Guy in Seat behind mine: "Oh Man That was Awesome!! I wish they would put the water back in!" Me: "(Thinking this guy had some knowledge) Do you remember if there was an actual Spashdown on this like on Diamondback?" Guy: " I dont think since its been Here. This RIde was moved here from Some park in Kentucky.." Me: (Subconciously rolling my eyes) "Oh yeah? Which one, do you know?" Guy: "Im Not Sure, I think some Park in Louisville.." Me: "(Playing the Game) Oh, Kentucky Kingdom? I think The Vortex was Moved here from that park.." Guy: "No, That was at Cedar Point before they moved it here..." .. I just Moaned and Walked away...

  29. OK, since Benred23 answered your questions...I would like to just point out some changes you may notice. #1-You will nearly instantly notice 2 giant new rides. One of them is a massive steel roller coaster in Rivertown, Diamondback. The other is a 301' tall swing ride near Vortex in Coney Mall, WindSeeker. You cannot miss them...visually, at least. #2-You will also nearly instantly notice a giant towering wood structure in Action Zone is no more. Yep, Son of Beast is dead. It's station and q-line remain, though. There is construction work being done on/near the site, however, so it may not be empty much longer... #3-Thunder Alley and The Crypt are also both gone...harder to notice than the above, especially since Crypt's building still exists, but still... #4-A new attraction called Dinosaurs Alive! has opened in Coney Mall. It is a $5 upcharge. But it has dinosaurs! Action Theatre is incorporated into this now, and is no longer free... #5-Nickelodeon Universe is "gone"...Planet Snoopy has "replaced" it. Even though in reality, it's just new paint and a new theme, really. #6-Scooby Doo & The Haunted Castle has been re-themed into Boo Blasters on Boo Hill. Similar concepts though. #7-You probably won't notice it as the waterpark isn't open yet, but Boomerang Bay was re-themed into Soak City, and a few new attractions were added, such as a 2nd Wave Pool. #8-You will see people using a 2nd line opposite you. They paid $50+ or so to use this line, it is called Fast Lane. Opinions on this are VERY divided. #9-Several restraunts and shops in the park have been renamed and re-themed. Reds Hall of Fame Grille, the former Rivertown Junction, being the newest and most prominent example. #10-The Beast's entrance has been moved due to Diamondback's opening. It is now much further back, closer to the actual ride, than before. #11-Invertigo got repainted, it is now aqua blue and dark blue. Flight Deck was also repainted, but it's colors did not change. And those are the noteable changes I can think of, that have occured since 2008 (assumed your last visit because you said 5 years)...wow, that is a suprising amount of changes, isn't it?

  30. After brewing upon this overnight: Non-emergency calls to 911 should be met with charges against the caller. Bogging down emergency lines with these types of calls is concerning as this is just one example of bad 911 judgement. I can only imagine the other types of calls 911 receives on a daily basis.

  31. Hate to bring up an old point of discussion, but I don't really think the type of ride impacts the color a great deal. Oh, wait. It's a Cedar Fair ride. So one thing's for sure. If it IS a coaster, it will most definitely be light blue. Were this being built two years ago, it would almost certainly be red. Just my $0.02 on the color debate. Now for the ride/attraction itself, we know one thing about it. Considering where it's being built, Cedar Fair wants to impress the heck out of us so we forget ol' what's-his-face that used to live there. And when they had to take out another significant failure (The Bat), they graced us with the ride that, in my humble opinion, is the finest steel coaster to have ever graced us with its presence. Others, I'm sure will disagree, but as you can safely guess by my avatar, Vortex and Flight Deck (both products that are directly related to The Bat in some way) are among my favorite coasters ever. In fact the only ride I've ever ridden that I enjoy more than Vortex is made of wood, and stands 110 feet tall and just a few dozen yards directly south of my beloved Vortex.

  35. SOB was a hyper-woody. The coaster terms "hyper", "giga", and "strata" are used to describe the height of the coaster, not the layout. If KI wants to throw money at a coaster company for a giga looper, I believe that company would come up with a design. My money is on a giga with a traditional layout that uses the terrain in that part of the park. But it's KI's money bringing the new ride, not mine.

  36. seeing that you're getting there at gate open and have a season pass, keep in mind that there are several rides both in Planet Snoopy and outside (like The Beast) that are available for early ride time to season pass holders. Since you're getting there that early, if your son is young enough to spend most of his time in Planet Snoopy, then I'm going to assume this is not an option, but late in the evening, around 9:00 or so, Planet Snoopy becomes a dead zone, you can sneak in a bunch of rides on woodstock express, flying ace arial chase, boo blasters or whatever fits his fancy. You won't get a great view of the fireworks (you'll see them b/w the trees, but its not like being up front) but you can get on a lot of rides in short order on a typical midweek evening.

  37. I wish Disney would sell tickets for something like this. I'd love to be stuck on Splash Mountain for a lengthy amount of time, especially inside where all the animatronic characters are. It's one of my favorite rides!

  44. IF this park is truly reopening, opportunity after opportunity for free media is being squandered. I just don't get it. Unless, of course, it isn't happening. Hart asked for an extension of the walk-away period for a reason. June 27 is getting closer and closer...even those who posted hopeful news here have gotten eerily quiet.....

  48. The show was fun.... but I think everyone who went to it can agree that the most entertaining part of the experience was seeing the baby boomer women bum-rush the theatre in an attempt to get to the front row and be close to their childhood idols.
