  1. From the trusted reviews I've read, the coaster is fun, but the trims are a huge letdown. Speed becomes relative, and everyone I know personally who has ridden has said that the first shot is like speed heaven, but that the trims feel very, very harsh. Not sudden, mind you, but that once you've been shot out going 150, even travelling just over 100 starts to feel "meh". In brief, the launch is amazing, but the letdown from the trims in like a huge buzzkill, which dampers the remainder of the ride, which doesn't exactly have a jaw-dropping layout to speak of. I've quite enjoyed this thread myself. Does it meander off-topic? I suppose, but what high-quality thread doesn't? It's like we're all just keeping each other company with good coaster talk while we wait for the ball to drop.

  2. I talked to a very nice older lady who was working in Action Zone a couple weeks ago. When she saw me peering over the fence she said I could get a much better view from the tower. She told me that she knew one of the contractors building what ever it is and because of this she knew what was going to be built but could not share it with me because it was not worth losing her job. She did say that they would not be able to keep it a secret much longer because it would be pretty obvious. I remarked that it looked like it could be a roller coaster and she just smiled. I know that is not really any new information but her unwillingness to share and the fact that she was older lead me to believe what she told me was true. I couldn't resist

I had to re-read this - I thought you said PEEING over the fence. That would put a whole new spin on what the older lady was talking about.......better from the tower.......I know the contractors......kind enough not to share what she knows......wouldn't be able to keep it a secret much longer......what Cougars say is true!

  13. I heard two coasters that was meant for Kentucky Kingdom where put into World of Adventure. Xflight/Firehawk may have been one of them But I've heard Dominator was custom made to be at the front of the park in the year 2000. It was going to take the place of the vampire and the squid waterslide, but Six Flags went cheap and put in Road Runner in 2000 and Sky Coaster later in 2001. You heard wrong. XFlight/Firehawk was originally designed for Kings Island (with another slated for install at KD.) Paramount passed on the coasters due to issues with the prototype Stealth in California. The two Flying Dutchmans were then contracted for installation at two competing Six Flags parks - Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and Six Flags America. Neither was ever slated for installation at KK. Dominator was designed specifically for SFO as part of the park's complete mainstream overhaul. It was not designed for KK, or ever planned for installation there. The area you mention at KK as being the planned location has an overall height restriction. KK's former tall rides (Chang, the SkyCoaster, the front spike of Greezed Lightning and the former lifts of Vampire) all were placed so they fit in the narrow parcel of land that allowed a 100'+ height variance. Many peope didn't realize it, but the tallest ride points at SFKK were in direct line with each other. One little known fact is that SF had proposed a Intamin Superman Impulse coaster to be placed in that parcel at the front of KK. However SFKK was underperforming so bad that the company scratched the plans and installed Greezed Lightning instead figuring it to be a cheaper alternative. However the coaster was a maintenance nightmare - mostly due to it's age - and essentially cost more than the Impulse would have. The park held a privately invited PR/Media event to premier the "NEW" coaster. However, the coaster didn't operate and the park supplemented rides on Hellivator (which a few years later generated it's own media event.) Greezed Lightning didn't even make test runs that night and the park sent everyone packing. It was an utter and complete embarassment of an event - typical for SFKK. On the opposite end of the park, there's a lower height variance - around 85 feet. Twisted Twins/Sisters was designed so they stood 80 feet, giving clearance for raised hands.

  25. peeing over the fence certainly would be easier from the tower, but since you can't spit from up there I am positive it would be against Ohio state law. maybe for more than one reason...

  27. Six Flags sent in one of their very best GM's, Melinda Ashcraft. Melinda made an assessment of the situation, figured out what would be necessary to make the park competitive, and submitted her budget request. After receiving her answer from corporate, she transferred elsewhere, ending up as a 45+ year employee of the company. She just retired as GM of Six Flags Over Georgia. Oh, that budget that corporate wouldn't/didn't approve? It was substantial. Far, far more than Hart & Co. intend to invest in the park. Melinda's plan would have worked. Ed Hart & Co? His own bank won't lend him the requested amount for the project, and that's with the state's land as collateral. There's a lesson in there somewhere. And the crickets? June 27 is coming. At this point, there's not really even a deal yet.

  28. Makes me think of the people I feel sorriest for at this point in time. The Tower elevator operators, at the end of their speal, they always ask "so does anyone have any questions?" I just looked at the girl one day and asked her how many times she's been asked what their building. She gave me the look as if to say "way too f'n much" but verbally offered up a very PC "just about every trip down"

  39. Let's see...for me it'd be classic rock, some modern/contemporary rock (not a big fan of rock that's too hard, Metalica, Nirvana and Alice in Chains is as hard as I go), jazz, and classical music. I also like to listen to movie scores. I'm also a bit of a musician myself, with the alto and tenor saxophones as my instruments of choice. I LOVE playing jazz. I currently play said saxophones in the UC Bearcat Bands and a community band during the summer, also run by the UC Band.

  40. After a little bit of research I have discovered that the worlds tallest ferris wheel is currently the "Singapore Flyer" in (you'll never guess) Singapore! Here's what she looks like: She stands at 541 feet (holy crap) tall and cost 180 million US dollars to build. Here's a link to the wheel's website: http://www.singaporeflyer.com/ ...And here's a pic of the world's smallest ferris wheel: thought you might enjoy this one Pretty cool stuff! DBI

  41. was someone making reference that I was being mean-spirited to someone earlier? I didn't go back and read all of the comments, but all I was saying is that I'm hoping no one is trespassing on private property at the B&M location. I have never been to said location so I couldn't tell you how public or private it is. I just hope that in the pursuit of "what's being built" no one is infringing on legal technicalities. And I'll leave open the possibility that no one has. Like I said, I have no idea what the privacy/security is around that place. Nothing mean-spirited meant.

  42. Come say hello! After working three days from 8 AM until 11 PM I was ready to sleep for a very long time. I also went out with some friends until 4 in the morning, so I had some sleep to catch up on. I am a business operations intern. My title is Area Host Leader/Supervisor of the France and New France area. I am also cross trained to operate Griffon, Alpengiest, and Catapult. I'm training on Le Scoot (Log Flume) tomorrow. I'm trained on these rides just incase I have to cover for someone. I love my area because the whole places smells like BBQ.

  43. While dive machines are a different design than a typical floorless coaster (like Bizarro and Hydra), they do come with floorless trains now, so technically that'd be kind of getting a 2 for 1 deal there. Just sayin'.
