How the heck is Diamondback rough...IN ANY SEAT?! It's like people have already forgotten about Son of Beast! A job well done, Kings Island!5 points

There went Hart's promise of "Biggah, Bettah, Wettah!" ;-) Here's the deal... Hart is reaping what he sewed. The park was built with poor infrastructure. Food stands and buildings weren't built for time. They were more or less built like back-yard sheds - 2x4 studs with outdoor grade plywood nailed on. They were built simply in order to expand the park rapidly. He then sold off the park, based on percived success... which in reality was masking debt.5 points

Here is some pictures from yesterday (Sorry for bad quality, it's a digital zoom on an iPod).5 points

Neither Millennium Force nor Diamondback are rough at all. Diamondback shuffles a bit after the turnaround, but it does next to nothing to reduce its speed. The trim and midcourse directly afterwards do that job quite nicely. In terms of B&M versus Intamin for roughness/smoothness, they're usually about equal. As for all of that speed and height make for better coasters nonsense that was going on a few pages earlier...it's like none of you guys have ever ridden Maverick or a GCI before.4 points

Here are the pictures from today. And I do not know why they put Ohio St's logo in the flower bed, but it made me feel at home.4 points

I think the jack hammering or rattle on Diamondback has to do with the elongated trains more than anything.... then again shouldn't a Diamondback rattle?3 points

So, Big Sexy, you care a little bit if the ride was rough then. THE_BEASTmaster, who just had to again.3 points

Well, with the pictures of food on the side and the walk-up window, my guess is it's an armored Brinks truck. Think, my friend....think. YES, it's a food truck. Sorry, I couldn't resist. It was just begging for a sarcastic, smart-alec response.3 points

I'd love a themed launched Eurofighter or Maurer Sohne. Kings Island has the most diverse collection of coasters that any park has to offer- they could keep expanding. Give me ride duration. Check out what's going on at Tripsdrill. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=39288&start=1603 points

Let's hope that guy doesn't plan on visiting Kings Island again anytime soon. Funny how he referred to it as Drop Tower even though Beast and Racer have had magnetic brakes far longer than that ride has been known as Drop Tower.3 points

I've been up and down I-71 several times in the past few weeks. If THAT means ANYTHING, the new attraction will be: Construction Zone: The Ride3 points

How can Intamin be the equivalent to a Cadillac with prevalent, reoccurring problems?2 points

When you think about it. Diamondback was/is a huge hit and is the #1 or #2 coaster in the park (The Beast I might add). Maybe Kings Island doesnt want to outshine DB with height and speed, but to have another coaster in the park that can put KI on the map of a must visit destination. Also 2014 would mean the last new coaster we got came 5 years ago, and DB will be 6 years old (I cant believe how time goes by). 5 years without a new coaster gives a lot of time to think about what type of ride you want, where you want it, the theme (if there is one) and many other options. So technically, this coaster could be 5 years in the making.2 points

I'm going to take a wild stab and guess LaRosa's Pizza and Prairie Farms ice cream cones. Call me crazy, but I feel pretty confident in those guesses.2 points

The truck can also be used at events and activities outside of the park, such as festivals in Cincinnati and the like. Great promotional tool.2 points

Just 4 hours left to buy tickets! I now know for sure that I can come, so I'll be buying mine shortly. If anyone's holding out for an extended deadline, don't. A headcount is certainly needed for final food and activity plans, so registering late is likely to be impossible. Make sure you don't miss out! More people registered on time likely means more activities, and bigger turnouts are always more fun. So buy one now, and get your friends to buy one too! (But order together, unless you like paying Accesso.)2 points

Yeah, on schedule to open it within a year... ...but 75% of the attractions are inoperable? failhorns.wav No mention of this ongoing construction we've been hearing about? No mention of securing funds? 20 days...2 points

Great pictures, thanks! I have a love-hate relationship with Kings Dominion that involves complicated things like jealousy, confusion, disappointment, and admiration.2 points

How about an abandoned ferris wheel that still spins? It has no motor, just the wind pushing it. Here's someone riding on it2 points

And you get to define what is good, is that right? You have yet to show me any facts upon which you base your assessment that a coaster is better simply because it goes faster. Look, I don't mean to sound a like a jerk. I don't like it when people make me feel unwelcome, so I will say "Welcome to the site". But you're making unfounded statements without backing them up. They amount to nothing more than your opinion. I have yet to get what I would like to see at KI, while in the meantime they've given the park a whole lot of things over the years that other people wanted. I've had to deal with that. Now....pardon me, but I need to hang it up for the night. I really am getting a headache. Ugh!2 points

What about the Jalapeno popcorn, and the nachos with 3 cheese sauce and jalapeno reference?2 points

^Because rides like The Beast, Maverick, and Kumba aren't consistently regarded as some of the best roller coasters in the world.2 points

Here's one for guests outside the park say the "darnest" things... I went to Office Depot yesterday to get a tally counter for Coasting for Kids. The guy that showed me where they were located asked if I was taking attendance. I told him that I was using it to keep track of my number of rides and explained Coasting for Kids. He asked if we have to get off after every lap and get back in line, I told him no, we stay on the train. I went on to say that I got 96 laps on Racer last year, and those that stayed on the whole time had about 113. He said "I don't see what's so impressive about that. The real challenge would be to see how many times you can ride with getting back in line each time." When he said that, I'm thinking "Excuse me? 96 laps, the equivalent of 62 miles (or 113 laps / 73 miles) isn't impressive?!?!?" But in the interest of being polite, I bit my tongue. He then went on to ask "How much do you know about the coasters there?" I replied, "Quite a bit." He said "The only rides I can ride there any more are Racer and Beast. I have steel rods in my back, and all the other rides have magnetic brakes, so they pull on my rods and I don't feel good afterwards. But that's why there are signs about medical conditions, but I ignored them. I rode Drop Tower once, and I wasn't right for a week and a half after. I can only ride the rides that still have friction brakes: Racer and Beast." My mind starts going at it again, thinking "Ugh.... Racer and Beast have had magnetic brakes for years! How can I escape quickly to the register?" I just politely said "Oh, yeah," and headed towards the register.2 points

Several things: A. Screamscape did NOT summarize here. Where's the giga discussion? The green INTAMIN track? The intelligent analysis? The Banshee insistence? B. Cedar Point a balanced park? No. It very much caters to the thrill seeker. That is one of many reasons Gatekeeper is such a brilliant addition for 2013. No, I won't be explaining that. I will note it had some of the shortest lines in the park last night, admittedly a small sample size. C. Bigger, BADDER. faster? Gatekeeper? That ride explains a lot. Earlier, much earlier, my philosophy of new Cedar Fair management was alluded to in a Italian Job: Stunt Coaster thread. Some, nay--most, took that too literally. Gatekeeper explains all. Look for a Gatekeeper type move at Kings Island. Mr. Ouimet has explained several times, in great detail, where Cedar Fair is headed. And it is not bigger, badder, faster. Look for a brilliant move at Kings Island. This post is not a diversion. (Hi, Mr. J!)2 points

Cedar Fair bought rights to Cedar Fair? Who'd they buy them from? Terp, who likes to ask questions.2 points

I think you meant Flying Eagles not Wild Eagles. Intimidator 305 is a glorious ride. Good to hear you enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.1 point

TRs are not a Terpy regular feature. BGW is a glorious park, and an ideal way to spend a HoliWood Night.1 point

I've been told ... Vortex is sinking, The water park /parking lot is haunted by a little girl, Phantom Theater is returning, CF is doing a summer time parade featuring peanuts characters, A new haunted house attraction is coming, Winter Fest will be returning.1 point

This is definately a great deal for those who are not season pass holders. I have a Platinum Pass myself, but I would suggest something like this to friends who are not, or even to my mom who enjoys going and riding coasters with me but is not a pass holder.1 point

I think that's a new record for Screamscape. 4 days and a complete reversal of their "source confirmation." I give it 4 more updates and the original 5/30 Wing confirmation will *POOF* dissapear. ;-)1 point
