People around here use the words "real snow" loosely. A real snow would consist of over a foot of accumulation to some people, while in the south, everything shuts down for just a dusting. It's interesting how someones take on snow can be so radical compared to another's. Take me for example, I don't consider what we get around her to be " real snow" sure maybe 1 or 2 storms a year we can actually consider it to be "real snow" but go to Minnesota, or any other northern state that gets lots of snow for that matter, and you are in for a rude awakening of what "real snow" is. ......but I digress, what was it we were talking about again? A new Roller Coaster being built? Ah yes.5 points

This is happening next week! We are meeting at Great Wolf Lodge (next to Kings Island in Mason, Ohio) on December 6-7, 2013 to have fun and celebrate with each other around the holidays. The highlight of the event is the huge indoor waterpark, featuring five major water slides (including a water coaster) and numerous other activities. We reserved a very good rate on a block of deluxe “Loft Fireplace” suites, and we're sharing the cost equally among those staying in the rooms. The final cost per person will be between $35 and $43 based on final occupancy. Three of our rooms are on the top floor with a large balcony overlooking Kings Island, including construction on Banshee and The Bat. (That price includes an overnight stay on December 6 and two days (Dec 6-7) of waterpark access. Even if you prefer to return home at night or to join us for only one day, your best value is still to share in the cost of the rooms.) As a reminder, if you haven't paid for your share of the room yet, please do so by this Friday. Contact me via phone or e-mail if there are any questions. For anyone who still wants to join us, there are still a few hotel beds and wristbands available. E-mail me if you're interested or want details: I'll be sending an e-mail to everyone within the next week with final documents and instructions. Make sure to bring the printed room confirmation (PDF) to show at the parking gate if asked. Rooms might not be available until after 4:00pm, so make sure to pack a small bag with your swimsuit if you’re arriving early. Google Doc with confirmed participants & arrival times: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArgvxwYrfA7sdGlKbE1FYzc1RTFidFVzdnpUTDVqd1E&usp=sharing#gid=0 (Add your ETA.) Itinerary, Friday, December 6: All day: Hotel check-in and wristband pick-up. (Arrange a meeting time in advance if you’re assigned to a shared room.) 12:00pm-1:00pm: Hotel lobby meetup (Get your wristband, say "Hi") 1:00pm: Waterpark access begins 4:00pm: Hotel rooms become available (Your wristband is your room key.) 8:00pm: Waterpark closes 8:30pm-??: Treats/party/etc (Some 21+ will be sharing a toast. We all know that earlier this year Canada's Wonderland announced the addition of Wonder Mountain's Guardian, a new innovative and interactive family dark ride/roller coaster combination. However, little information about the ride was released. I just came across an articel explaining more of the details of the ride, and it also said we can expect similar dark rides to be added throughout the Cedar Fair chain in the coming years. There were several things I found particularly interesting in this article: -The ride will be customisable, with characters and plot hoped to be able to be changed as easily as being done overnight. This would allow for clones of the ride at various CF parks, but with each park having a completely different experience and theme. Quote from the article: "Unlike Walt Disney, though, Ouimet doesn't mind repeating himself. That's why, if the initial ride is successful, he plans to roll-out clones across the Cedar Fair chain. Because of the customisable nature of the system, too, the ride will even change during the year at Canada's Wonderland - a version filled with zombies is already planned for Halloween 2014. Ouimet claims that Cedar Fair will develop a "library" of content that it can rotate around its parks, ensuring that they always have something new to offer." -It will only have a $10 million price tag. I was shocked to find this out. I was thinking it would be much more expensive, but kudos to Ouimet if he is able to add a world class dark ride at such a low cost. Hopefully it will turn out great despite the relatively inexpensive price tag. This sounds like an awesome ride and it seems like Cedar Fair will be adding more of these to other parks if Wonder Mountain's Guardian is a success, which I predict it will be. I wouldn't be surprised if KI and CP get versions of this within the next several years. Hi there! My name is Nick and I am 13 years old. Just thought I'd introduce myself to the forums and start a discussion. Okay, so I am on Google Earth looking at Kings Island (In hopes that it has been updated since 2012) and I saw something in the back behind Dinosaurs Alive: It looks like some arrow cars and a bunch of other things. I apologize if this has been previously mentioned.3 points

Following the recent announcement of the world's tallest roller coaster going to Florida (Poler Coaster), there are now plans for another world record breaking ride in the state. SkyRise Drop, though not yet a reality but could soon be if approved by the city of Miami, where it would be located, would quickly knock SFGA's upcoming Zumanjaro off of the tallest drop ride pedestal. The towering structure would be the 2nd tallest tower in the country next to the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas. It would also be home to a Soarin'-like flight simulator, a 600 foot bungee drop, a large ballroom, and several clubs and bars. It will be interesting to see if this gets approved, because it sounds really cool. I can't even imagine a Drop Tower ride that will be twice the height as Zumanjaro, and that seems plenty high enough already. http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20131125/15132/skyrise-drop-800-feet-tall-drop-tower-could-be-its-way-miami-florida3 points

Also known as if sales are poor (and I'd guess they are so far--thus this clarification), we sure as heck won't raise the price.3 points

Last week I was honeymooning down in Hilton Head, SC when I realize that we were only 4 1/2 hours from Walt Disney World. Being the Disney nut that I am, I couldn't help but be drawn towards the park. I talked to the wife and we decided that it would be really fun to plan a spur of the moment trip down to the Magic Kingdom for a day. I booked us a room at a place called Seralago Hotel and Suites for a night. We had stayed there before and they have great prices and it's pretty nice place. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially families, who are trying to see Disney on a budget! Along with great prices, they have free transportation to the Disney parks, or if you want to drive yourself, they are located only about 10 minutes from the parks. Very convenient either way. We arrived Wednesday evening around 6. We checked into our hotel and headed to Downtown Disney for the evening. We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and took in all the Disney shops. The weather was great and the atmosphere was amazing as usual. Thursday morning we woke up bright and early and went down to the hotel restaurant where we enjoyed 2 complimentary breakfasts at their fully stocked breakfast buffet - another perk of staying at Seralago! After breakfast it was straight to the park. For me, as an animation fanatic, the Magic Kingdom has always been one of my favorite parks so this is the one we decided to do since we only had one day. We arrived at the park around 10 am and started scoping out the place. We noticed that the crowds were very light. This would definitely help us get more out of our day at Disney. The first thing we did was grab one of their free buttons that they give out to guests who are celebrating something special. They have buttons for first time visitors, for people celebrating a birthday or an anniversary. We got one that said "Happily Ever After - Honeymoon." These buttons are great and the Disney staff are very quick to congratulate you all day long as you make your way through the park. First thing was first though - it was straight to the New Fantasy Land to try to snag a Fast Past to the new Journey of the Little Mermaid ride. However, it was pretty much a walk on. The line didn't even stop long enough for me to take pictures of video of their amazing queue areas. Oh well! We do enjoy walk ons! Next, it was back to Tomorrowland for a ride on Stich's Great Escape. I hadn't ridden this ride since it was Alien Encounters, so I was excited to check it out. Stitch is also one of my favorite characters and my wife and I have kind of adopted him as a sort of "mascot" for our relationship since we started dating on June 6, 2006 which would be "6-2-6." Get it? After "Stitch" it was on to a Disney classic - Space Mountain! This was as walk on as well. Once we got off this ride, we decided to take a break from Tomorrowland and head over to Liberty Square for a ride on The Haunted Mansion. And surprise, this was a walk on as well! My wife hadn't ridden this ride before, so it was a lot of fun to experience it with her. Next we took a little lunch break and had a picnic lunch in a little area designed like the world of "Tangled." We find a nice little spot under some trees with a great view of Rapunzel's tower. After lunch we walked around the corner and caught a show of Mickey's Philharmagic. If you've been to the Magic Kingdom lately and haven't seen this show, then you've really missed out! If you're planning on going to the Magic Kingdom in the near future, make sure this show is on your list of things to do. You won't be disappointed! Next it was over to take in a show of the Bear Country Jubilee. I love this show because I'm just so dang fascinated with animatronics - it's a weakness really. Now it was into Frontierland for a ride on one of my favorite rides in the park Splash Mountain. This ride had one of the longer lines in the park that day, but still, it was only about 15-20 minutes. Not even worth Fast Passing really. Next it was a ride on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is a nice little coaster and it's always great to take a ride on this runaway train! It was time to slow things down a bit, so we next enjoyed a nice leisurely ride on Pirates of the Caribbean. This is another of my favorites because it is an amazingly themed dark and loaded with animatronics! Next, we took in a fun-filled show at the Enchanted Tiki Room. Now some people are thrilled that it's back to it's original form, however, I got to see it back in 2000 when it was the "Under New Management" version starring Iago and Zazu. I have to say, I enjoyed that version a lot better. I thought the songs were great and I especially loved the part with the Tiki God towards the end of the show. After this we decided to head back to Tomorrowland for a ride on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. This ride should be the reference for what a dark ride target shooter should be - hint hint Kings Island! Finally it was over to Fantasyland for a ride on the classic Small World and Peter Pan's Flight rides. We were planning on heading towards Main Street to do a little shopping before the park closed, but we had a little surprise in store for us and we didn't even know it. Just out of curiosity we decided to check out the new Be Our Guest restaurant inside the Beauty and The Beast castle. We we informed that you could not even see inside unless you had a reservation to eat. We were a little disappointed so we thought we see, just by the grace of God, if there was an opening. We asked and we were surprised to find out that they had a cancellation which left them with one extra table for 2! We were very fortunate enough to be able to go inside the castle and grab some dessert! This castle is amazing and you really feel like you're in the movie. This is a must do even if it's just to get dessert. Now it was time to leave. A quick trip down Main Street and some last minute shopping and we had to head out. Unfortunately the night we were there they were having a special "Mickey's Christmas Party" event which came with an additional $66 upcharge if you wished to stay an particpate, if not, you were booted from the grounds - no questions asked! I tried to go into a store to buy a last minute souvenir before leaving. There were two cast members at the door and they asked if I had a wrist band. I said no and they said "park's closed." Obviously the park wasn't closed because there were still tons of people and also people shopping. It was just closed to us because we didn't want to fork over another $66 per person to stay around after 7 pm. That sucked a little and I didn't quite care for the attitude we got from the cast members guarding the doors to the store. If Disney didn't want my money in that store, then I will take it elsewhere! All in all though, it was as fabulous day at the Magic Kingdom. The weather was nice, the crowds were light, and we got to do pretty much everything we wanted to do. This was a great addition to an already great honeymoon!3 points

That would be really cool actually and that gives me another idea for the Action Zone retheme. What if instead of a scary theme, it could be more of a medieval theme! Just think about it. All of the rides would have Medieval themes. Sure The Bat isn't exactly medieval but other rides would have cool names. They could tear down Action Zone things and put Medieval things. Instead of the water tower there could be a well or something. All of the rides would get a new coat of paint and castles and crap. Just a thought but if this were true it would take a lot of time. The only place crap belongs in a park is in its proper receptacle. Truly.3 points

And to me that still seems to be quite an adventurous construction timeline. When you consider new rides, clean up and other issues stemming from an entire park that has been dormant.3 points

Three, actually. First is the use of "the" in "Son of The Beast", second is the claim that people died on it, and third is the ludicrous claim that that is the reason for playing the national anthem.2 points

In 2013, Knott's Berry Farm completely renovated their Ghost Town area, built a new vintage Boardwalk area with three new rides, and completely refurbished the Timber Mountain Log Ride (the ride that inspired Splash Mountain) with new lighting, animatronic figures, music, sounds, etc. from Garner Holt Productions. 2014 is more of the same - the groovy Calico Mine Ride will get the same treatment as the Log Ride with new sounds, lights, 50 new animatronic figures, new effects, etc. and the park's Camp Snoopy will be entirely refurbished and rebuilt with new rides and its theme returned to a High Sierra camp (with Snoopy still included). Wow, Knott's Berry Farm in California is probably seeing the most improvement of all Cedar Fair parks with Ouimet on board. He did say from the start that coming from Disneyland, he recognized the incredible potential in Knott's. Now we see that he's actually going to bring that to life. This is also on-par with the nostalgic changes at Kings Dominion and even Kings Island. This is the beginning of what we all expected from Ouimet. Think about the parks in 2014 - new fountains, water shows, new dark ride, refurbished classic dark rides, themed areas returning, executive chefs, new food options. It's happening, people! http://www.westcoaster.net/community/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=67111 point

You should try riding Wildebeest at Holiday World by yourself. It absolutely feels like the ONLY thing keeping you from flying out of the boat is your death grip on the handles on either side of you, and the 200-pound boat will literally jump the hills.1 point

For some reason, I call those Tortilla Bowls. I love to watch videos of them, I think inwardly it's to feel superior and think to myself, "Stupid people." They toss and fall allover! It's like a Tumblebug on bath salts. Rode one of those at a festival in Germany. It was kinda painful but really fun to try and hang on.1 point
