  1. My nephew rode The Beast today for the first time And my brother is a Cincinnati Financial employee, so that's why he gets to be at the park today.

  2. Let me say this I was up on the loading platform getting off Banshee and just spoken to a supervisor of said coster about my ride experence and thoughts. As we walked to the stairs there was a loud noise and in my opinion made a biit louder because it echoed off the station interior walls. I could see what the issue was and was not concerned but knew it was going to be a maintence issue. The ride opps in the station were directing oncoming riders and those still exiting to in fact exit with and in position to point to the exit. Everything I seen went very professional and I was not worried or overlly concerned the guests (myself included) followed the instructions and exited the station area relatively quite orderly fashion. I have seen wildly exagerated recounts from others which is a shame and wonder way the need to do that. Kings Island has a wonderful new ride in Banshee and doesn't need exagerated negative press when they are trying to promote their new ride. As one who has no connection to the park other than being a guest with a season pass and seeing this situation first hand this is honesttly a non story other than a maintience issue that needed addressed like all rides do over time.

  3. That's like asking me which one of my children I love the most, I love them all equal. O.k, not quite the same thing but I like all three rides for what they are.

  4. It is Cincinnati Financial. And apparently these company buyout days are great times to go if your company has one. My brother has taken many opportunities to inform me that everything is a walk-on today. I suppose it's karma for sending him so many pictures of Banshee on Media Day...

  5. The family and I went to Kings Island for our first visit yesterday and being big fans of the Disney Dinning Plan over the years we were excited to purchase and see various dinning plans showing up at Kings Island. Sure as we hope we save money over the year but the big selling point for us is connivence and I have no doubt we will spend more in the park when it is all said and done with any savings we may earn by having more pocket cash from lack of cash to be spent on meals in future visits. So yesterday was day one, in a nut shell we are pleased with how it worked and excited to know how the plan will work for us especially knowing we no longer have to meet up for meals or anticipate cash to send with family members if we know they will be away during meal times. We could tell the program is new and that possible changes will occur and honestly I hope the park does make some adjustments in their offerings as they see will work in their plan as the plans roll out and possibly offer season long drinks with or even without the meals as an up-charge. We were not offered the cole slaw with a couple meals my family got even after I requested something different than fries and now after reading over the list we should received coleslaw with a couple of our meals. We wish there was a bit more flexibility especially if there is an item like fries that one of us does not care for do to diet restrictions. At the Chicken Shack they offer a salad which I really would have enjoyed due to my diet desires and to have a lighter more balanced meal. The thing is it was a cheeper meal than what they offer with other meals but it was not available as an option for the season long plan. I wish there were more healthier options available or at least one per location. I could see if it was more expensive but in many cases they are not. We would have enjoyed having a menu over to the side that we could have looked at as we entered each location for a meal as we are new to this as well and find ourselves having to ask as we order what we can have and feel guilty to hold up the line as they explain what we can have and make our decision on the fly. In some cases the employees had to double check to make sure what they were telling us was in fact correct. In our opinion the La Rosa Pizza was not of good value or a choice unless we wanted a lighter meal. They offered 2 slices of pizza but to be honest those slices are very small and together could be counted as a single slice from other pizza places we go to that sell by the slice, in addition we get to bread sticks with dipping sauce if they have it (we were told they were out at the time we went at the International Street location). We hope they adjust the offering at La Rosa's to include a small side salad or at least offer the side salad as an option over the bread sticks, too much bread in one serving for me. In closing when we look down the list of meal offerings at various locations we do notice better nutritional options are left off and we sincerely hope they work to include more of those choices or options in the future as we hope they adjust. We absolutely love having a dinning plan as an option as it works for our lifestyle so we are very happy to have this now at Kings Island and can see us purchasing a plan year after year as long as they offer it. The daily plan for us is not ideal for us as it forces us to have more cash on hand with every visit versus a high one time at the beginning of the year. We enjoyed the plan and if everything stays the way it is now we will still be happy and feel it is a good choice for us but honestly it does need tweaked a bit going forward to include a few better side options and to have a few more healthier meals available rom a few locations.

  6. What I would like to see, is the prices of Season Passes increased and that ridiculous program eliminated. Id be HAPPY to pay $250, even $300 for my CF Platinum Pass to offset the income created by Fast LAME. Many people have said that the Gold and Platinum passes are grossly underpriced for what they provide, and I agree with that statement. Another member of this Forum and I have video taken with his phone, of the separator at Diamondback at approx 6pm EST on opening day, allowing 28... yes 28... Fast Lamers into DBs station after allowing only 6 "lesser" people who paid nothing but their regular admission fee. Until we replace the humans with computer scanners that control the flow of people, it will never be done fairly. Now that Ive gotten that rant off my chest, as Interperter said it is HIGHLY illegal to sell or buy a wristband to or from another individual after its been bought from the park. Its already been prosecuted once, and resulted in very negative consequence.

  8. NO problem at all. Most braking systems are cooled with air. Threads/posts relating to last nights "incident" were most likely removed because they were full of misinformation/speculation. Don't take it personal dude. I even had a reply deleted, no big deal. Air lines fail. I am sure this is not the first at Kings Island....nor will it be the last. Edit-You guys are deleting stuff faster than I am replying, lol.

  9. I think FUNTV needs more noodle coverage. We need to be able to check in with our noodly overlord at least once every 15 minutes in case he decides to share his cheesy wisdom. Also, now that The Bat is painted, perhaps we could move its webcam so that we have a noodle cam.

  10. Typically, the park has you fill out a small piece of paperwork that allows you to specify the department, ride, restaurant, etc to which your comments (positive or negative) pertain. I have filled out those sheets many times, but not always because I have a complaint. If something is done really well that day, I always fill out a comment card. I figure not many people think to comment on the good things, so maybe I can help offset the stream of complaints.

  13. Has anyone had any trouble with glitches of any type so far? Our biggest problem was opening day. Our entire family went to the park. We'd all renewed our passes last fall...even having them double-checked. They even let all of us in to Halloween Haunt several times. What happened? We start through the gate and one of my daughter's passes was expired! We didn't have the receipt with us so they let us through on the condition that we would get the problem resolved by guest services before we left the park. Guest Services went round and round in circles. We even called my house so that my husband could pull the receipt and give them the transaction number. They couldn't find the transaction number in their records. An hour later, the supervisor assured us that he would have the problem resolved that evening. We returned to the park (with receipt in hand) early yesterday morning. Sure enough, her card was still expired. The supervisor in charge yesterday told us that the other supervisor had issued my daughter a new card. Uh, no. We gave them the receipt and waited about 15 minutes while a new card was actually issued. Then, we added our meal plans to each card. Thankfully, everyone's card now works.

  16. Thank you Jesse. I was in the queue when the noise happened. I have been hearing a lot of negative feedback about the crowd from people who were not there but I was trying to express in my previous post that none of us knew what was going on-it sounded like an alarm system and for all we knew there could have been a shooter-at any rate we all feared the worst. I feel everyone in the crowd ( including myself) made a wise, cautious decision to evacuate just to make sure that there was no safety issues-everyone evacuated from my perspective in a very orderly fashion with a minimum of panic. It was a relief to find out that nothing serious happened. Let me say thought that it was a frightening experience for myself and everyone one else in the queue . To hear some of the nasty comments about the crowd's reaction just outrages me. Thanks for letting me vent.

I believe someone said on here recently that they flowers are not planted and the clock hands are not mounted until they are 100% certain that frost season is completely over with, which is not certain right now. I would expect the floral clock to be planted and working by Memorial Day at the absolute latest.

  20. Saw someone on Twitter with at least 10 tweets complaining to Kings Island about tweeting today that the park was closed. They bought all their tickets and everything. 1. Kings Island actually tweeted and posted on Facebook yesterday the same thing. 2. Before going to the park - LOOK AT THE HOURS! Why would people not do that? Do they just assume things? 3. Don't blame the park for being closed for a private event - something that is on their website and has been said several times. Blame yourself!

  21. Posts about last night were removed, Banshee had some downtime and reopened later that evening. Idiots in the crowd yelled dumb things (as they typically do) that were completely untrue and their words blew things way out of proportion for those that can't think for themselves and/or lacking common sense. This post isn't directed towards anyone's post here on KIC that was there first hand as you simply said what you heard. (I am not employed nor contracted by Kings Island/Cedar Fair and do not speak on their behalf.)

  22. Fast Lane (not Fast Pass) is an exclusive right to faster line access at a Cedar Fair park for the original purchaser. Reusing it by giving it (or selling it), once it has been used or worn, to another is defrauding the park. It really is little different than helping yourself to the cash register, sneaking in the park or shoplifting LaRosa's Pizza. Wrong is wrong.

  26. Now that all the "tightening" problems have been fixed, and given the fact the amount of headbanging on Banshee is literally zero, I say these restraints are wonderful... One of the major reasons that I and many others consider Banshee to be the best invert in the world... But I highly doubt other parks would feel the need to change their existing B&M inverts to these style trains. As has been mentioned before, it would cost a lot more than you think and thus the return on the investment wouldn't really be worth it.

  27. Just want to add that the season dining plan was a no brainer for us. It will increase our number of visits this year. Paying up front means that money for food is one less thing to worry about when making a spur of the moment trip. All we basically need to buy is a tank of Gas. We hate having to leave the park and normally eat there anyways. The higher prices this year would have drastically lowered our number of trips.

  29. I have had three Gold Passes (2011-2013) and one Platinum Pass (2014). I have never had an issue at Kings Island. We shall see within the first couple weeks of May whether I have an issue using my Platinum Pass at Canada's Wonderland. I have no reason to believe I will. I hope I am not disappointed. -homestar92, searching for his receipt from the Platinum upgrade.

  30. We purchased our meal plans yesterday. It seems to be a very good deal. While at guest services, they let me look at the list of the foods available from each participating vendor. When I asked them to make a copy for me (so that, being the parents of 4 teens, I could plan ahead), they said they couldn't give me a copy...even if I paid for it. For lunch, we went to the Festhaus. Basically, since they have dinners with sides, you're set. You can, however, exchange the fries for one of the items in the cooler. For supper, we went to the Burrito place. We ordered HUGE taco salads and received chips/salsa on the side. None of us was able to finish the meal.

  32. Some much needed notes before my long confusing/extreme dream... Notes: This is all one dream and it is VERY off the rails! Might be one of the weirdest dreams any of you have ever heard! The first half deals with KI but the second half not so much... Nothing in this dream reflects to me as a person. Like I would not follow a random stranger for starters... Last note, this is a rather lengthy dream, and it is not uncommon for me to have such crazy dreams... Please enjoy and ounce again anything said in this does NOT reflect me as a person! Also had this dream today. I went to KI one day when I didn't know/realize they were teasing a new ride. Well for their first tease you see a dress flapping back and forth. It got all KIC really excited. Then later that day I’m randomly in the Festhaus. Now Don is standing at a podium‚ spinning two dolls. (Like he was spinning his whole body is circles next he says‚ "anyone want to take a guess as to what are new ride will be called?" Then people go up on stage and start saying names. I never went on stage but I was thinking something like Dolly's and Daisy’s Spinny ride. After that I’m suddenly standing in a weird version of Chicken Shack. Well they had 3 different chicken strip thing options‚ one that was all in a box‚ one that was still frozen in a box‚ then some individual pieces of cooked chicken strips. Apparently I was hungry and I decided to eat 2 of the fully cooked chicken strips. It wasn't until afterwards I realized I didn't pay for it! So this time I get two fully cooked chicken strips then some dipping sauce. Well before I make it to the checkout‚ this dude in an EMT outfit‚ says the park needs my help with my roller coaster expertise... So I follow him out the door when suddenly he has someone pull the fire alarm ‚ after that two men in black suits step outside then we lock everyone else in! The man tells me to put on some sunglasses‚ which I do and then I hear fog machines making the whole path foggy. Well after that I see a bunch of people that have been rallied together and one person says "I think they need us to go defuse an explosive device"! (No longer in the park at this point) Now were all marching into the underground tunnel and there is tons of people! We also must dodge this high speed trains. Well we do so and then ounce I make it to the cave entrance ‚ I don't see anyone else with me except a kid that was scared and I said it would be alright. So now I’m in the Minecraft tunnel and I’m playing myself in a 3rd person perspective! So to start off I have to flip a switch to lower the spikes in front of me. Well flipped the switch and it lowers the spikes but then it also lowers the ceiling! So me and this scared kid have to run through this little maze thing. We do so successfully. Now we come to an opening again and we stop for a second then walk forward a little bit to get chased by a giant worm! So we speed through this as we try to avoid the worm when we suddenly have the option to be eaten by a worm or jump in a dark abyss. Ounce I started to fall my perspective of me changed again to me looking as a side scrolling game. When we finally reach bottom‚ we get eaten by the worm... Now though I randomly end of up above ground and see a post-apocalyptic world. (Now I am changed to seeing the world in first person) I also don’t have the scared little kid/friend with me anymore. So there is this big hill in front of me to climb and I start doing so‚ ounce I start doing so my two young little nephews start climbing it with me. Ounce we reach the top there is a command post in the distance so we run towards it‚ me thinking I will find that scared kid‚ but instead I change perspective again to me playing as myself in a video game! Inside this command post I see this nice dog person thing that says I must try this food (he said something I couldn't even pronounce). For some reason steak and eggs sounded really good but I came to believe I live in a world that don't have such thing. After that I woke up.

  34. Dined at The Chicken Shack not once, but twice this weekend, and I think the food is well worth those prices. If you compare it to the LaRosa's meal, two slices for the price of an entire large pizza at the actual restaurant, it's a good value. As I do with Cane's, I ordered the sandwich meal, finding it odd that they use the toast instead of the buns depicted on the picture, but that actually made it taste better, in my opinion. The first time, they used two pieces of toast, thus creating a sandwich. The second, the employee tried to gip me of a second, thus requiring me to explain what a sandwich was.

  35. My friend Dave sent me a text at 11 this morning saying a normal 10 minute wait for Diamondback turned into a 25 minute affair. I just saw reports that Behemoth and Intimidator Carowinds have the seat belts as well. Check out this bit about Behemoth operation today from kunpc1, a moderator over at the fansite CWMania: Is this similar to the way Diamondback is being operated right now? I haven't seen any posts that specifically address the new loading procedures. Interestingly enough, despite the seat belts on Behemoth they are not currently on Leviathan. Say what?! This whole saga is just getting more bizarre by the minute.

  45. I don't think it's in Kings Island's best interest to say anything about this situation publicly. They could position it positively as a "this is just for extra safety" statement, but I really don't see the value in opening themselves up to questions about any of their previous safety policies. It's Pandora's box waiting to be opened. I believe Diamondback will be giving its 10 millionth ride sometime this season. B&M hypers have probably given - conservatively - at least 100 million rides worldwide. To silver2005's point earlier, how many incidents involving the failure of restraints have we seen on B&M hypers? Zero. Anyone who has ever seen the inner workings of a B&M restraint knows that the odds of any of their restraints failing is so close to zero it may as well be zero. I'm sure B&M's safety record is a big reason why Cedar Fair continues to go to them to design their coasters. This is just an educated opinion, but I don't believe the seatbelts on Diamondback are primarily there for safety reasons, even though that's that reason most people buy in to. I believe the belts are there to simply make sure that the rider - specifically those with larger lower body proportions - fits in the seat. If the belt doesn't buckle then there's no need to deal with the primary restraint. Would anyone here ride Diamondback with the restraint up with the seat belt only restraining you? Probably not right? Just food for thought for those of you who believe that seat belt only would somehow be an effective way to restrain you in the VERY unlikely event of a restraint problem.
