^ If the park is still in operation by 2016. Nothing is given with a new or reopening park. Look at how short lived Hard Rock Park / Freestyle Music Park lasted.8 points

Maybe 4 hours for Outer Limits in 1996. As described, there were temporary queues everywhere. The line started out by the Zephyr. I was blown away by the indoor part so much that the last hour didn't bother me. For those of you who never got to experience the inside of the hangar in its early days... I'm sorry...7 points

Heard Thriller thrice today. The line for Boo Blasters is kind of silly now. Adventure Express - a mine train into the jungle? Cool, let's hear modern music and get updates on pop culture. Park trivia - oh, cool! Oh, wait, that question's been asked six times today already! No useful information about the park, like wait times, current closures, attraction advertisements, or places to go get food... FUNtv is a great concept. But they really need to work on it.6 points

As a member of the Kings High School marching band, I remember that day very well as we marched in the opening day parade! Besides being the marching band that lead the parade, we also marched and played when Kings Island Drive was opened to traffic. Kings Island's design department created the banner that we used in front of our band to identify who we were. Our banner said: Kings High School Marching Band, Kings Mills, Ohio, Home of Kings Island. We also marched at Coney Island on the last day of operation before they moved up to Kings Mills, Ohio. We had lots of fun on both days. I would go on to work at the park as one of its first workers in 1972 and had fun as one of "The Original Employee's!"5 points

There is an intersting article in Cincinnati Magazine regarding The Beast. It's in the June 2014 issue. I suggest reading it if you get a chance. That being said, just into the second paragraph I came across this sentence. ..."Around the same time, Taft acquired Coney Island, and moved much of the park's staff, plus some rides- including The Racer, another wooden coaster that many credit with reviving the craft- up to the new park." WHY, and HOW, did they make this mistake. It's a common mistake, but this just prolongs this common misconception.4 points

And none of the trains from the Shooting Star are, or ever were, on The Racer. In fact, the Shooting Star's trains were still sitting on the ride after The Racer opened in 1972 from what I've heard.4 points

I can't say I'm surprised. They've typically extended the sale at least a few days in recent years. Though I know one person who made sure to purchase a pass yesterday because she wasn't sure they'd extend the sale, so the deadlines work to move passes quickly. She wasn't going to go to the park at all this season until I asked if she wanted to go with me this weekend... -homestar92, who hopes the season pass purchase means more than just money for the park4 points

^^ So true. Guests were supposed to get lost in the theme and take their times to wander and enjoy. Now it's the opposite. Now guests must plan their time down to the minute, and be at the Magic Castle before their LaneHopper ticket time expires and then run over to Mr. Bunnies Totally Awesome Hop Thingy to get a new LaneHopper before they're gone. Then they have to make it to the Inter Park River Transit before the dock closes to go to the Animals Only Park because they have a scheduled lunch reservation at the Shady Knoll Terrace, and they are required to be 15 minutes early. (It's almost like someone with ADHD was in charge of these new planning systems.) BTW, FUNTV? I've already tuned them out as a distraction.4 points

@SplashinDan on Twitter earlier today : 3 Rampage roller coaster updates throughout the day : "Our critical path is the chain/sprocket. Ordered from John King England. 600 feet of chain 60,000 pounds." "14 men working 60 hours a week. Race to the finish all you coaster crazies!" "Rampage will not open until August at the earliest you coaster crazies! This isn't extreme makeover with us cutting corners!"3 points

I don't think this has been posted before, but I stumbled upon it and it's a very interesting read. This is from the perspective of Dennis Speigel of ITPS. Sample: http://www.parkworld-online.com/news/fullstory.php/aid/2240/Happy_Birthday_Kings_Island!.html3 points

Not anymore. It was actually saying that it was the biggest investment in KI history, until Banshee replaced it as the holder of that title; it didn't mean physical replacement. But I changed "replaced" to "beaten" anyway to prevent further confusion, and axed the "The" while I was at it.3 points

Lots of folks are scared thanks to the "swaying" video. News outlets are posting via Facebook that the ride is fine, hoping people will share it to spread the word. The comments are something else. I believe the video was taken and released for the sole purpose of spreading fear. No matter what the park does, it has quite an uphill battle.3 points

I had 5 different non-enthusiast friends here in Louisville all tell me the same thing over the weekend. They basically said they were going to wait to go to KK until it has all the "kinks" worked out. Specifically they said they wanted to wait to see if the park is safe... on multiple levels... before returning.3 points

As in for HoliWood Nights... Oldiesmann would have almost certainly had the same situation for his Christian Festival trip, had he delayed booking.3 points

The mistake I usually hear is that The Racer was built from Shooting Star parts. People, once and for all: The Racer is a completely, original ride while The Shooting Star was completely demolished. Ahhhh, now I feel better that I got that off my chest.3 points

I waited for over 5 hours for Outer Limits Flight of Fear when it opened. The queue started at about where the Dinosaurs Alive entrance is and went into a completely full plaza in front of the building. When we almost got to the ramp of the UFO, someone pointed to the back and saw what appeared to be more line....People freaked out and actually left the line....I looked too and considered leaving, until I realized that I was staring back at myself...hehehehe....(those of you who know understand what I'm saying). The longest I've ever waited was for nearly 7 hours for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the forbidden eye. Problem here was the unusual process for the queue at that time. We got in line somewhere near the center hub of the park and there were long waits and then sudden moves. I found out later that once the line was in Adventureland, it criss crossed the midway and there were employees raising temporary rope queues in intervals allowing guests to move forward. After a certain amount of guests moved forwards, they would drop the ropes to allow guests not in line to pass....problem was, guests who knew what was happening from prior experience were jumping into line each time the ropes were dropped. The employees were frustrated with it too, but with the massive crowds it was bound to happen.3 points

My longest wait was nearly 5 hours during the summer of 2008 for Firehawk against my will. My former boss paid for a trip to go to Kings Island on a 90*+ Saturday. He insisted on riding Firehawk and insisted we all had to stay together. It was the worst trip ever to Kings Island. I waited I believe 3 1/2 hours on opening day for Banshee, but I got a T-shirt for my efforts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

I saw the show on Sunday with my kids, who both enjoyed it. Like Ryan, I too have seen multiple Cirque du Soleil productions, so I wasn't expecting that, but for the size of the stage, I'd say they made great use of it. I guessed the performers are all in their early-mid 20s, and they were quite skilled. I think the show will appeal to a broader audience than Alonzo did and I'm glad the park decided to go in this direction. I particulary enjoyed the last major act with the performers all vaulting up and down the set piece-which is a mainstay of all Cirque shows. Also, the clown balancing with the ring is also a common Cirque feature-albeit with a bigger contraption, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The theatre was prob about 95% filled at my showing with ushers finding seats for those arriving last minute. I hope the show does someting different if it sticks around for Haunt.3 points

The turn around on original products is a time killer. If you assume you need one hour for every minute of a final project, every 3 minute info piece takes 3 hours from planning, shooting, editing, etc. ..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Three hours for Flight of Fear during a Saturday of Haunt in 2010. Coincidentally, this is the longest I've waited for an amusement park attraction, period. Next is Banshee on opening day, for which I waited two hours, and then Wildebeest at Holiday World last summer, which I waited 90 minutes for. Other than those, I've never waited more than an hour for any ride ever that I recall.2 points

We go on planned days where there isn't a crowd. I wasn't tall enough for rides like Diamondback when they opened, so the longest I've ever waited for a ride at KI was 1 hrs for Diamondback. Ever would be 1.5 hrs. for Tatsu (I love that thing to death)!2 points

I think longest I've waited was for White Water Canyon at around 90 minutes. I don't generally wait very long for the rollercoasters so I've never gone over 90 minutes on one, but that day was very hot and and I knew I would get wet, possibly drenched.2 points

C'mon. They had Nokia phones with that snake game on them when Top Thrill Dragster opened. That'd entertain me for five hours.2 points

60 minutes for Banshee, once, second Saturday this spring. That is my limit for rides, period...even a new one. Life is too short to be wasted standing in a cattle call line...even for the free t-shirt. I've not waited more than 30 minutes, many times not more than 15, since that first ride. Especially for rides I've ridden many, many times, why wait? Banshee has now crossed into the territory with the other rides at my home park. If a line is longer than 30 minutes, forget it. To combat that, though, you won't see me at the park on a Saturday during the summer, or on a Sunday after 1pm.2 points
