  1. ^^ They're structures, not people. Saving parts of them can be financially and environmentally prudent.

  2. I might buy a season pass for next year. I... like it better now than when it was under SIX. There. I said it.

  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CIBcmJzr-s&feature=youtu.be Today Slingshot was only $5. My mom and I decided it was finally time to give it a go. My mom is an absolute hoot on these things. Please try to ignore me making T.I.E. Fighter noises at the end. I didn't realize the video would have sound.

  4. It's not just cost, but what thrills, excites and pleases the target market. Note also that it would appear that SIX and FUN have somewhat different target markets these days.

  7. A roller coaster company called Mack, has been testing VR headsets while riding on a roller coaster. They sync up the animation on the VR headset, with the course of the ride! As far as I can tell you choose your video and then your off! Here is the article: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/29/oculus-rift-melds-with-a-real-life-roller-coaster-ride here is just the video of it in action: Their will be some negatives from this though... MUCH slower load times, people who would rather see the the coaster instead of a video, while on the ride, equipment being broken, if the video ever goes out of sync... and other negative things. Positives: this is you could use this on any coaster really! Like while riding FoF, have sound effects going off during the ride that syncs up with the alien related video on the VR headset. One thing that could be an issue as well is, each row would have to have the video synced up at a slightly different time.

  12. Most of us knew from the beginning this would be a failed venture. It's only a matter of time, sadly.

  13. Kentucky State Fair attendance is typically announced, with great fanfare, on the Tuesday after the fair. What do you do with REALLY BAD, BAD news? You quietly drop it on a Friday, around noon, and hope no one notices. And so they did. A THIRTY YEAR LOW IN ATTENDANCE. Let me say that again. A thirty year low. Over time, weather averages out. They blamed the weather. The Purge. The phases of the moon. (I made that last one up, I think). Had attendance been up, Kentucky Kingdom would have boasted it was because of it. Make of this what you will. It isn't good. This is a drastic decline on a year when the entertainment package was perhaps the best ever. And this was WITH a newly re-opened Kentucky Kingdom at 9.99. Unlike Mr. Hart and Company, I will point out that was ONLY with an advance purchase at Kroger. http://m.wlky.com/news/heat-storms-impact-kentucky-state-fair-attendance/27790214 No way this is good news for the Fair Board, Kentucky Kingdom or Kentucky taxpayers. No way at all. At least there was no news of more operational gaffes and PR buffoonery during the fair. There's that. Someone there probably had a heaping helping of Thunderbird fortified wine at the end of the fair...

  14. Worst part is, if it's even slightly out of sync, you could throw up ON a generic coaster in a building.

  15. My, how Nick has changed (worse) since then! I miss Rugrats, Jimmy Neutron, Catdog,Wild Thornberrys and i'm sure their was more I liked but just cant recall... As for game shows, GUTS! (we go to see a reboot of the show, live, at Universal Orlando back in 2008 or so? was called My Family has/got GUTS!), Double Dare, Finders Keepers, the video game one (can't think of name, they had to control a person called Mikey and avoid stepping on a trap when they move him. Then at the end they always played some games in what I assume was VR.), Legends of the Hidden Temple, Figure it Out (which also had a reboot not to long ago, like 2011-2013, somewhere around their.) They used to have a channel that played nothing but these old games on Dish Network, which was booted off for a western time zone, Cartoon Network... (I like watching Boomreg as well, which as of recent has been mixing some new cartoons on their with the old, not liking that...) I'm sure their is also more game show I can't think of, that I liked as well!

  16. I don't see Cedar Fair working with RMC anytime soon, nor do I want them too. Keep the wooden coasters wooden. Keep the steel, steel. I am guessing a Floorless Conversion on Mantis. If anything I've heard from a source in the park, whether true or not, Mantis will be closed after Labor Day. I can also see a Dark Ride happening finally.

  17. I find this contraption to be boring, but I'm glad you had fun! At 0:53, it takes a true Star Wars geek to spontaneously say Y-wing instead of X-wing. And the TIE fighter sounds were cool! I never thought of pretending that those handles were fighter yokes.

  18. Yea this seems pretty cool but like it could have a lot of problems associated with it as well. Best part of it I think would be you could throw up a generic coaster in a building and change it up each year with a new video, or even a new one for special events like Halloween Haunt, similar to their plans for Wonder Mountain's Guardian.

  19. If the park gets anything it's going to be small. I could see some new shows and some kinda food. A set of flyers would be nice. Really wish for some new water slides.

  20. I apologize, but I just read this. We left not long after I posted my last update. I had my daughter and one of her friends with me and they were too tired to stay. Seriously, they were ready to go, not me. I do have to say the time we were there, every ride we rode, the crews had their A game on. They kept lines moving quickly.

  21. I don't care what they do to the ride as long as they take a not good ride and make it something worth riding.

  23. Thank you for making me feel like I didn't imagine that. All this talk about something that won't happen any time soon was making my head spin.

  24. I've never had that problem, so it's probably just you. Hard to say what could be causing that though. Sounds like the video itself isn't loading. I resolved the issue. It was happening for ALL video (Flash or HTML5) in Chrome. A Chrome update did not fix it. A graphics card update did.

  25. I would rather have a coaster that is good than have a bad coaster just for the sake of tradition. I'm not saying, I don't want say Mean Streak re-done or another rough wooden coaster re-done. I'm saying, I don't want RMC to come in and make Mean Streak something like Meaner Streak, a "hybrid" coaster. If they completely change the wood out,add a steel track and a new layout, it's no longer the previous ride. Will I ride an RMC coaster, sure....but I'd rather it be from the ground up a new idea rather than billing it as a previous ride that's been refurbished. If that makes sense.

  32. Wow. No spin can explain that. I am actually surprised, though. I would've thought that people would come out for Kentucky Kingdom with or without bad weather. Very strange, wow.

  33. Other fairs are posting record attendances. A few are down a little. No one is down anywhere near to this extent.

  34. Well the logical answer is they are removing the ride! Also had to get rid of Shake Rattle and Roll because it is affected by Vortex's sinking... Now don't even get me started on the Arcade in the Coney Mall area! Note: this was a high level of sarcasm.

  36. It reminds me of the show they used to have at KI when I was a kid. Which makes sense, because the news this season suggests KK seems to be stuck in that time period in a lot of ways. It worries me that KK has a live animal show at all.

  37. 2015 season passes are now on sale for $59.95. Offer end September 28. This page says there will be six new attractions for next year. Do we know what all six of those are (i.e. old attractions reopening after extensive rehab that weren't open in 2014), or does this indicate that we have a big announcement to come (hopefully not at 11:00 PM on a Saturday night again)? EDIT: What sccard01 said, plus a question.

  39. Agreed they are both great as they are and have some great properties and significance to them as wooden coasters. I wouldn't mind seeing a newly built RMC hybrid coaster but would want them to keep our current woodies as is.

  40. Big Bundle of Nope. The Racer, in its form was the powder keg of the nex gen coaster age. The Beast, in its form, is the longest wooden coaster. If RMC gives it some "love" we will not have any kind of woodie coaster. Woodies are starting to disappear from a chain already, don't let it spread.

  41. Even though I voted for a traditional wooden coaster for KI, it would be cool to see an original (not an re-tracking of an existing coaster) RMC hybrid come to Kings Island. And I don't think traditional wooden coasters are completely done for, either.

  42. The one that I would vote for which is not an option would be wood coaster like El Toro installed at KI.

  43. A Drop Zone like Kentucky Kingdom's Hellevator. Canceled. The Rye Aeroplane Coaster. Canceled. Son of Beast built instead. Hurler. Originally planned where the Antique Cars were. Canceled. Adams Family Coaster. CBS'd. Train taken out. Cedar Fair canceled that dumb plan. Flight of Fear rotated to Carowinds or Canada's Wonderland. Also saved by Cedar Fair. Batwing at SFA was meant for KI. Paramount Parks passed after seeing how Stealth worked. The latter was moved to Carowinds to make way for a waterpark expansion in California. Year around International Street shopping and restaurants. Never happened.

  45. I was at the park yesterday and watched the Sea Lion splash show with my family. It was very fun to watch. The animals were all rescues that would have otherwise died in the wild and they seemed happy and well cared for. I see no problem with the show.

  46. Can't watch on my phone but I'll definitely be watching this tomorrow (or later today rather). Oddly enough, I want to visit KK primarily for them. I'd really be interested in what their back pools look like (if there is any at all...). These guys deserve to have a pool where they can have their rocks etc just as much as cetaceans do and there are some places (like Hershey Park from what I saw last) who have not grasped that concept yet and the pinnipeds are still left with completely barren tanks. They do A LOT of sleeping by nature so they lay on rocks and/or beaches. I like the exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo, LOVE the Indy Zoo's, SeaWorld Orlando has a gorgeous one, of the 3 parks San Antonio needs the most work as far as space is concerned so I am glad that SW included them in their expansion/revamp plans.

  47. I have other sources. This is the first public allusion. Often how what is said is far more important than what is said. Without changes in the lease, there will be no Kentucky Kingdom by this time in 2016. And after November 2015, if certain politicians are replaced with a different brand, the Kingdom is going to face the bleakest possible future. Seems some are upset that a Democrat governor cut a deal with the former treasurer of the Kentucky Democrat party and 2008 Mitch McConnell opponent (Bruce Lunsford) and his crony Ed Hart. And they can't wait to cut that under at the knees.
