Not sure but when I read it originally it wasn't rude. The thing about Internet forums is this. You read into what you want it to be. If you interpret something as rude when in all honesty it's just a statement that's on you. It's not like boddah said "hey stupid...."7 points

As far as paint, removing the remaining old theming from The Bat, and some work on The Vortex's station building (there is some serious peeling of the back of the cupola roof, for example) wouldn't be amiss. I'd love to see the return of the vine tunnel. It was always a nice place to get a bit of natural cooling on hot days. I'd much rather some intense focus on the little things than anything major next year.6 points

No need to get nasty about it. I was just making my own personal statement... This is the kind of attitude on this forum here lately that just makes me want to stop posting. The unnecessary attitude that comes across when just trying to have a friendly conversation and speculation on roller coasters. I apologize. I didn't intend to come off as nasty at all. All that I'm saying is that each park does its own thing and makes its own choices. You can not necessarily predict the actions of one based on the actions of another. Each park operates very independently of the next. There isn't a whole lot of intervention by corporate. That is a good thing, though - although they are run by the same company, each has its own personality.6 points

I saw the same thing multiple times in one day. SFNE doesn't mess around! I love SFNE, i think it's actually one of the better overall parks in the chain. Really friendly staff, decent coasters, easy to get around and its really clean. As for my pet peeve, have you ever seen someone litter 10 feet away from a trash can? Come on now, have some class... Please something for the waterpark. Okay the 2nd wavepool was fine. But out Tornado looks AWFUL. I mean absolutely gross. Clean that up, please. We need something with better capacity. With record attendance at the park this year (assuming) the low capacity rides don't cut it. 2 tube slides, one family raft ride (the first one ever built), 1 proslide Tornado, 4 body slides, and the 5 enclosed body slides. Everything is from 1989 except for the 2004 Tornado and Mat Racers. Am I right on that? I get it, the Beach never adds to the park, so that means you don't have to add anything either. Please give us something else to do in the waterpark. I only visit every 3 years.5 points

So, my son and I made a trip to Camden Park about two weekends ago. We went from 5pm to 10pm. We arrived shortly after 5 and immediately went to kiddie land. He was so excited to be going to Camden Park with daddy ever since we rode a roller coaster at North Myrtle Beach. The coaster was similar to Wildcat, but it was a portable model. He was really ready to ride that one when we got into the station, but as soon as we departed, he asked me to hold on to him. Back to Camden. He rode the boat ride there that is just circular and enjoyed it very much. I guess all kids like to pretend that they are driving something. After that, we went over to the junior whip and he liked that as always. I so enjoy watching my son (who is 5) smiling really big when he is getting a thrill from rides. After that, we went to the planes that go in a circle. They have two seats and guns that I saw several kids who enjoyed pretending to shoot something. Next, we went to the carousel. Daddy rode this one with him and he liked it as I commentated on how we were racing each other and one horse took the lead over the other. After that, we went to the Paratrooper. I still like this ride much as I did when I was a kid and went to Camden on a school trip. He was a little bit scared once it came to maximum height, but I reassured him we would be fine. Next, we went to the Big Dipper. He loves coasters. I have the Roller Coasters of Cedar Point video and he loves watching it. It's funny how he'll say he's been on this or that one and he's never been there. I find it particularly funny that he swears that the Blue Streak is at Camden. I guess because in his eyes, it's the Big Dipper. He loved his ride on the Big Dipper and had daddy hold on to him as we rode. He told me afterwards how he likes the tunnel. Next, we went across the railroad tracks to get a ride on some others. We went to the Rockin' Tug and it was down. So, we went next door to ride the Tilt-A-Whirl. I told him that daddy new how to ride one of these so we could get maximum spinning out of it. Man, I had really forgotten how much fun that ride is. We went to the Little Dipper after that. He likes it pretty well and I just enjoy watching him experience the wonder of amusement parks. So, he talked me into a round of miniature golf after the Little Dipper. I thought it was a really good course and I didn't even bother to get a score card because he was going to win anyway lol. We went to the Whip after that. I love the Whip, but man that ride is hard on my back. The turns are not that bad, but you kinda slam back into the straight away. Not a problem or a complaint about the ride. I just have a bad back. we headed over for a spin on the Scrambler next. This is another ride that I loved as a kid and as a coaster fanatic, had forgotten how fun other rides can be. I love the flat collection at KI and CP and ride them every time I go. However, there was a time where I didn't bother in the early 1990's because I just used to go to marathon coasters. I was really missing out. Plus, now that I have a son, I am more about the overall park experience. My son Trey really enjoyed the Scrambler. We wound up riding them twice each. He also rode what he likes to call the umbrella ride, which is a circular car ride that has different vehicles on it. He rode that one twice and smiled all the way. At that point, it was the end of the night and we were heading out the front gate when he saw some light sabers, which I had to get him one. He is a Star Wars boy after all. We had a great time at Camden Park and I can't wait to take him to Kings Island next year. I still can't manage to get him to ride the haunted house again. He had one ride two years ago and it scared him to the point that he wanted to get off the ride. I told him he had to wait until it was over. I spoke to a couple of the employees there while waiting in line and everyone was really friendly and helped make my experience a great one. I took several pics with my phone, but I can't really upload them because I'm on a company computer. If you are ever in West Virginia, take time to help support our little park. It's not the greatest in the world, but it has plenty for the little ones. Did not ride the Rattler either as he is not tall enough. Maybe next season.4 points

When they say local, they mean local construction companies and suppliers, not S&S. They did the major design work in-house. Here's info from the Lagoon fan site, Lagoon Is Fun: Logo:4 points

So my wife, who needed peace and quiet to concentrate on her chocolate-making hobby, drops me off, in a driving rain, and tells me to have a good time for the next six hours... alone (Kings Island makes an awesome 'dog house,' if you know what I mean ...) You know, you can really gauge a day's crowd when it rains, and you happen to be in Action Zone. I bet the (awesome!) cast of the amazing 'The Boyz are Back' really loves a good, soaking rain to really pack 'em in! (...and with $1 pizza slices, it was the, eh, um, perfect storm?) Labor Day, 2014. So I walked around, dodging raindrops, looking for something to eat amid humongous crowds of hungry guests, all shaking fistfuls of crisp $1.00 bills in their raised fists as the tidal swell of thrifty diners thronged their way along International Street towards LaRosa's. Okay, that's an embellishment. From here on out, I'll try to keep it only mildly poetic; hopefully entertaining, too. There were long lines at the Dollar Days participating outlets, so I ducked into Skyline Chili, which had no trays, so I juggled. I didn't know I had that talent in me! (Somebody get Howie Mandel on the phone...) I went to Action Zone (is it still called that?) and observed the beautiful view of Delirium against the backdrop of Banshee. There were a lot of puddles, and I skipped around like a Lipizzan Stallion trying to avoid getting my expensive shoes soaked. I also discovered how wind-resistant the outdoor furniture is under the new canopy atop the old water tower plaza. Those things weigh more than my American bulldog! Anyway, the sky cleared (eventually) and I was able to walk freely about the park (puddles notwithstanding). The line for The Beast was only slightly shorter than those of the Dollar vendors, and I really wasn't in the mood for waiting in line. I did catch a nice shot of my favorite looper in action, though. I think The Vortex is taken somewhat for granted. It really is a gem of a coaster. I'd have done the water trick with this photo, but the "Vortex is sinking" schtick is nearing a tipping point, and I wanted to keep it friendly. I hung around to catch "Playlist Live," which is one of the best, tightest bands I've ever seen live. Holy cow does that bass player know how to roll through the riff of "Wild Night" by Van Morrison. The brass section is a wow, too. Talented performers all around in that ensemble; they could go on "America's Got Talent!" I ran into a famous staff member, who was in a hurry. I tried to banter with him, but I found out the hard way that it's better to let folks go about their business when they're on the clock. He was cool, but I felt awkward. Oh well, nothing that a little Chocolate Gelato at Greater's couldn't cure. I managed to get in rides on Adventure Express and the Eiffel Tower, whose elevator was showering me with air-conditioner condensation on the way down, so I joked about moving the Eiffel Tower over to the water park. Got good laughs (elevators make great captive audiences). I then went over to Duane's shop (Glass Blower) to pick up a glass turtle for my wife (she loves glass turtles). I felt very emotional, so I wanted to take another walk around to River Town, to see if I wanted to ride anything else. I stopped at the Diamondback Splashdown, which struck me as quite beautiful. It was worth the ten minutes to just stand there and observe the visual splendor these crazy guys dream up and build here. I pondered whether I would want to set up a giant canvas and paint it with that now-iconic imagery. We have such a nice park here! I went home. Gina loved the turtle. I loved her chocolates. All was well.4 points

The only two stand-ups I've ever ridden are SkyRider and Mantis. I liked SkyRider. I didn't like Mantis. Both are going to close. I don't think it can be objectively argued that stand-ups are not a dying breed. Comparing the number of stand-ups built over the past 15 years to the number torn down in that same time period is enough to tell you that. That being said, I don't think they'll disappear entirely any time soon. EDIT: Has anyone here really stopped to think how confused the next generation of coaster enthusiasts is going to be looking at 1990s and 2000s Cedar Point footage if Mantis is converted into a floorless? If I found something like that out, it'd blow my mind.4 points

My mom and I had talked about the idea of heading to the park sometime Labor Day weekend for one last trip before Halloweekends. Sunday really would be the only day that would work for us, but they were calling for an 80% chance of storms at the park almost all day. At first we were skeptical of going, but a rainy day at the Point is better than no day at the Point. Plus, we figured the threat of bad weather would hold off the crowds. Well, this trip goes to show how the weather in Ohio can change just like that. So much for the 80% chance of storms. When we left out house in the morning, it was cloudy and lightly sprinkling, but once at the park it was great. Still overcast, but dry. It ended up not even raining one drop all day and even got hot and sunny. In result to the dry weather, crowds built throughout the day, but it still wasn't terrible. It was fairly crowded but wasn't too bad. We arrived at 9:30 and went to Maverick for Early Entry. We were surprised how long the line was...it was down the steps and took up the first couple switchbacks in the queue house. This was the busiest it had ever been for Early Entry when we were there, and we hoped this wouldn't be a sign that the day would be mobbed. We encountered a really fun ride op, Garrett. He was very enthusiastic and funny, and he got everyone excited for the ride. He was doing fun stuff like "If you want to ride the Maverick, clap your hands!" He made lots of guests laugh and smile. We then rode Maverick again, this time in the front. We had 2 great ride on it. Next we headed over to Mean Streak and waited in the short line forming outside its entrance until it opened at 11. A few trains ahead of us, the train pulled out and stopped when it had barely exited the station. A lady had pulled out a camera. I can't stand idiots who think they can try to do this kind of stuff and get away with it. Thankfully the issue was resolved, and the ride was back in action within a few minutes. We rode in the front and I had one of the smoothest and most fun rides I've ever had on it. I even got a little pop of light floater air on one of the hills! Next was Skyhawk (only waited 1 cycle) before riding Mine Ride in the front after waiting only 1 or 2 trains. After this was Gemini. I sat in the 2nd to back on the red train and raced my mom, who went on the blue train. Red lost, but it was still fun. However, nobody else besides my mom and I were giving high fives during the ride. We continued along to Magnum and waited a couple minutes for the 2nd to back row. Had a fun, fairly smooth, and airtime filled ride. We decided to do Power Tower both launch and drop next. Launch was walk-on and drop only had about a 5/10 minute wait. I got a text from one of my friends asking if I was in the park. He had probably seen my tweet about it. He, his family, and one of my other friends were at the park too so we wanted to meet up at some point during the day. So my mom and I got Dollar Day hot dogs from SkyRide Refreshments while my friends got dollar pretzels from the stand near Magnum (and we got hot dogs for them and they got pretzels for us), and then we met up near Magnum. After our snack, my friends and I went on Magnum and waited about 15 minutes. To be able to sit near my friends, I ended up on a wheel seat in the middle of the train. It was really rough, but still fun. Then we all went on Dragster toward the back, and we waited about 30/45 minutes. It was one of my friends' first time on it, and he was a little nervous. He ended up loving it. Then we split up and my mom and I headed to ride Millennium while they went off to do Maverick. On the way to Millennium, we decided to ride Dodgem. Believe it or not, this was my 7th time to the park this year and I hadn't been on it yet. We waited about 20/30 minutes but had an enjoyable time. Then it was time for Millennium, and in total we waited an hour and a half for the front seat. We then met back up with my friends and my one friend's family at Gemini. We went on it twice. First I rode 2nd to back on the blue train and won, and then I rode in the front on the blue train and just barely lost. It was almost a tie. Then my friends and I went back to Mean Streak. I saw Mean Streak Henry as well as Segway Guy. I always love seeing these famed park goers. Since I was riding with a group, this time I didn't get to ride in the front seat. So we figured we'd sit in the 2nd car, it shouldn't be too bad, right? Well, I was so wrong. I had the most painful, uncomfortable, and jarring ride ever. Even after the overbank following the first drop, I was already dreading the rest of the ride. I actually was thinking to myself all throughout the remainder of it, "Get me off!" I exited with a headache. I do sort of enjoy this coaster in the front seat, but I will refuse to ride it again anywhere else. It was such a horrible experience. Next, my friends wanted to ride Mantis. I was hesitant at first since I had bad memories of it, but decided to try it again. This was before the announcement that it will officially be closing, but I had a hunch it might, so I decided to ride it just in case it would be my last ride on it. We saw that Millennium had an hour wait and Mantis had...no wait at all. It was basically a walk-on, and we just waited 5 minutes for the front. it's definitely a high-g machine, and it hurt my legs (just like I remembered). It wasn't terrible, but it isn't a ride I enjoy. I can't wait to see what the park does to it. Then we headed to Raptor and waited about 20 minutes for the front row. Them my mom and my friend's mom met back up with us and they wanted to ride it too, so we went on it again in the front row. During the first ride there wasn't a single bug...during the 2nd ride (only 15 minutes later), during the whole ride we were getting plastered with them (and getting them in our mouth. My mom's on-ride pic shows her in the process of pulling a bug out of her mouth.) It was gross, and it was crazy how quickly they came out. Following this was a half hour wait on Gatekeeper for the back left. It had just gotten dark so we had a fun night ride on it. It's been a while since I've gone on it at night and it was really fun. Up next was Wicked Twister and we walked right on. To finish the night (at least for my friends) we did WindSeeker. I love riding it at night. It's relaxing and the view is incredible. After I said bye to my friends, my mom and I grabbed a quick bite to eat by getting the Platinum fries deal at Hot Potato. Then around 10:20 we headed back to Millennium for ERT. The ERT hadn't started yet and the line went all the way back to Panda Express. The line opened up around 10:45 and it started off with a 15 minute wait. In total, we rode 4 times, including the back and front, as our last ride. Each time, the line got shorter, and eventually they started letting people go right through the access gate back into the station. It was a great way to end the day. I ended up with an impressive 26 rides throughout the day. Regular Season Wrap-Up: Since this was likely my last visit to the park before Halloweekends, I'll end this report with a quick recap of my thoughts on the park this year from my 7 regular season trips. -Atmosphere: The Gemini Midway refresh added so many points to this aspect of the park. Every year, especially after last year, more and more areas of the park are improving. It's great to have modern, updated midways and structures. This provides a more welcoming, happy environment for guests. The Blue Streak midway is still my least favorite location in the whole park, but hopefully this will be changed soon. But between the skyline, layout, and visual appeal of the park, CP still has the best atmosphere out of any park I've been to, even outranking Disney and Universal. I'm looking for the whole package, and the Point has it. -Cleanliness: It will never be to a Disney level of cleanliness, but for an amusement park like CP, it's definitely one of the best. Bathrooms are still the weakest point, but they've never been absolutely horrible. Sometimes it's also hard to stop guests from destroying and damaging property, such as ripping out flowers, etching things into walls/railings, and littering (especially in the parking lot.) But the park itself does a great job at trying to keep the park as clean as possible, and this in result adds to the wonderful atmosphere I already commented on. -Food: The Platinum Pass deals and discounts made me love the food so much this year. I took advantage of the fries deal almost every time we went. Amazing quality hand cut fries and chili sauce, plus it was so cheap. I love the Chickie's and Pete's addition to (Crab Fries!!!). The 10% discount everywhere was a nice little perk too. Every year the park's food offerings seem to get better, and this has been the best year yet. -Rides: I have seen the best operations with rides this year. The biggest issue was when Dragster was closed for a while (including for CoasterMania), but thankfully it had always been running really well on all of my visits. Maverick has still had a few downtime issues, but it's Maverick. It's expected. And at least when I've been at the park, it hasn't been down as much as it has sometimes in the past. Rarely ever was there a ride down when I wanted to go on it, and if it went down when I was in line most of the time it went back up fairly quickly. And despite the Skyhawk accident, I was amazed how quickly it reopened. Kudos to the park staff for having an amazing season when it comes to ride operations. I've been really impressed so far. -Staff: CP will never have perfect staff. There will always be some employees who view what they are doing as "just a job," however there were some that really stood out. My favorite ride ops this year were Ashli on Dragster, Jasper on Maverick, and an honorable mention to Garrett on Maverick, and I believe there was a Maverick ride op named Noah that was really good too. By far, Maverick was my favorite ride crew. They were almost always having fun and joking around. As a whole, the park's staff have really improved over previous years. I notice this especially with food service. This year (especially toward the start of the season), there were some very friendly food service workers and I was blown away. Way better customer service than in the past. Again, not all staff is perfect, but this year I have noticed a higher amount of fun, happy employees than I have before. Hopefully every year will keep getting better. -Overall thoughts: 2014 has been an amazing year. I hardly have any complaints, and I have tons of positive things to say. Plus I experienced my first CoasterMania, which is still my favorite day at any amusement park. Now it's time to look forward to the park's transformation into Halloweekends!3 points

I'm hoping the event requires a paid ticket, like the June event last year did. The free event last September didn't work out well. Paid would reduce the number of people who come, but that makes it more manageable for Don and company, plus being required to pay for the ticket helps eliminate people that aren't going to pay attention to rules and such (as being financially invested in the event makes you think twice about breaking rules and potentially getting kicked out and losing your money).3 points

Or if a trash can is completely full (doesn't happen very often at KI) yet someone just adds to the growing Jenga tower of trash, further adding to the impending doom of the tower toppling, liquid cheese and ketchup splattering, just to bake in the sun and develop that awful "hot trash" smell we all know and love. Thank you for the input from some of you regarding both Cedar Point and specifically some of the coasters. It helped tremendously. My neighbors Kamara, Angel and Ash went with Princess Sparkles and I to the point. Kamara had been there a few times, Angel had not been in many years and Ash had never gone. I told them what my goals were for the day: ride TTD and front row of Maverick. Anything beyond that would just be bonus. Our first stop was to see #Jonathan. Apparently #Jonathan needs to be wiped down from time to time. The park was moderately busy. I expected crowds to be heavier through out the day. I am not going over each detail of the day. I can say we rode all but one coaster at the park. The one we did not ride was Iron Dragon. They had shut it down due to weather coming in late in the day. It was the bottom of our must ride list. First ride was TTD. Princess Sparkles and I decided we want to ride front row. I loved Kingda Ka and have been told TTD was better. I was skeptical. TTD is by far better than Kingda Ka. Love the restraints, speed and entire feel of the coaster itself. Kamara and Angel (Ash too) going two trains before us. We took a ride on Cedar Downs. I really enjoyed that. During Coastermania it was down so we didn't get to ride it. Princess Sparkles and Ash on Blue Streak. Gatekeeper - The trains kept stacking as bad as Diamondback. Princess Sparkles and I rode back row and it was probably the best seat I have sat in on this one. I am still not a huge fan of it, but it is tolerable. We also had the opportunity to ride front row on Maverick. It made the coaster very good. I could potentially love this one. I really like the theming or feel of the area on this one. I can say I probably had my favorite day that I have had at Cedar Point on Labor Day. It had nothing to really do with the park though. I had a great time with my friends. I personally think the entire experience with any amusement park goes far beyond ride offerings. It is everything from the employees to the cleanliness to rides, themes, etc. The biggest disappointment is the employees were not nice. They seemed to hate being there. Very few smiles or even eye contact. There are only two employees at the park that left a positive impression. One was Anthony who works in food service and the young man at Mantis. My friends were more disappointed than I was in how the employees were acting. I get it is nearing the end of the season, but you are paid to do your job. Do it well. We tried to find this young man at the park, but he was no where to be found. Spiels. I have heard how phenomenal the spiels are. Only one was anything different at any other amusement park we have been to. It was the gal at Blue Streak. "You go up and down, up and down, up and down, up and down a total of 9 times!" She showed enthusiasm at least. Gatekeeper and TTD crews were moving very sloth like. I saw Gatekeeper stack 3 deep consistently. TTD was as bad with stacking. It was not a terribly long line, but we waited 1.5 hours. I would like to blame it due to us wanting row 1, but my friends went 2 trains in front of us. The park was also dirty. I saw very few people out sweeping or picking up trash. I know so many that rave about Cedar Point, but I have yet been able to see why aside from having a large number of roller coasters.2 points

That was always a favorite place to walk through was that vine tunnel. I would expect that KI will make a minor addition or two for next season. I haven't been in a few years, so I'm not sure what else they need as far as paint, general clean up of an area. If you guys don't like the event then why worry about reading about it and bad mouthing it and ruin the conversation for everyone else? Why not go talk in the 2015 topic board in a section you might enjoy? There are several of us who loves this event and it's why the park does what it does (Mostly it brings in a huge profit).2 points

^I'm also anti-Haunt and absolutely despise all the focus that gets put on it (like building permanent structures to use ONLY for Haunt). However, I'm also glad that for at least part of the day on the weekends are dedicated to a family-type event. Even though I hate walking around the park and seeing all the tacky decorations (I hate anything that glorifies death, mutilation, etc.), at least I'm able to come out to the park for a little bit and enjoy the fall weather and the rides. I, too, will be looking forward to next April when we're back to the normal operating season.2 points

Oh boy... Halloween Haunt. I, for one, can't wait until I get to enjoy another great season at Kings Island in April! - homestar92, who is no fan of Halloween Haunt, and will miss the part of the season when the park doesn't look tacky and stupid. And not having absurdly thick fog that reduces visibility to dangerous levels.2 points
