Hey, you. Yes, you! Guess what? We are down to 57 days until Opening Day! In honor of Throwback Thursday, here's a pic from Opening Day in 1972. via KingsIslandPR on Instagram: http://instagram.com/p/yf9h1AuODz/8 points

I would not hold my breath for that...As far Ed and KK are concerned, I am thankful for what he is done. I do not know the man or have had any dealings with him so I will defer personal opinions on him to those of you who know him in that way. Clearly, he is not well liked around here...but he is the only one crazy enough to give reopening KK a try. I know that his group mainly borrowed money and mortgaged the place to get it up and running but honestly I don't blame him. The the Kentucky State Fair Board owns the place and let it rot for 5 years because they could not make managing the park attractive enough to another operator. I am not an advocate for big government and wasting tax money, but for better or worse Kentucky Kingdom's ownership situation is what it is and is not going to change, just like its less than ideal location (being generous there). Yes we tax payers are at risk if the place fails, but we same tax payers had a multi-million dollar asset over grown and rusting away a short time ago. Hopefully the gates to the Kingdom being open is just the beginning of a much needed revitalization of the entire fairgrounds. God knows it needs it.5 points

I'm so excited to have purchased the Presidents' Day buy one get on free tickets, This April will be my first time to the park!5 points

Yes, it will. Terp -- In your heart you knew he would. Did you expect him to restrain himself?4 points

Excellent perspective. However, especially right now, it is not necessarily a given who, what and how Kentucky Kingdom's landlord is. A report's a comin'. And things are apt to change. Drastically. Well, that and an election.4 points

Wow, it would be great to go back in time and take part in the Kings Island Opening Day! Have that experience and riding some of the rides that we don't have a chance to ride now.4 points

Tickets are on sale through April 30th, there isn't a specific number of tickets to be sold. No age restriction, but all who attend must follow all park posted rules as well as the rules for their coaster clubs. On that, you have to have a current and active membership with an affiliated Coaster Club to attend. All of the other information you need to know can be found here: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/images/uploads/file/Coasterstock(3).pdf4 points

It'll be Kings Island! The launched-wing coaster will transform the front gate of Kings Island! ...wait....am I in the wrong thread?3 points

According to Tony there will only be one more video of the Rougarou Files. I was thinking there would be more than just 4 but I'm sure it takes a lot of time to put those together. I'm thankful they even did any. Can't wait for the next and final one!3 points

At least they're being consistent with the farm theme in that area (For those unaware, the show at Peanuts Theater the last few seasons has been about the gang spending time on their grandparents' farm)3 points

The caption on that photo ("Opening Day, April 29, 1972.") is wrong. Opening day was indeed April 29, but that picture is from the grand opening on May 27.3 points

Keep in mind that in the fourth quarter, the only properties that Cedar Fair has open are Knott`s Berry Farm, and Castaway Bar up in Sandusky (although I`m not certain how much traffic that property gets this time of year, as Sandusky isn`t exactly a haven for winter tourists). So the chain does not have a lot of income coming into the coffers this time of year, but they still have the full time staff to pay. Not to mention off season maintenance projects...3 points

Lock the phone. It's not completely bullet-proof, but it will probably be enough to stop the casual dishonest teenager. Won't do much against a "profesional" no-goodnik, but at a place like Kings Island, I have a hard time believing that would be the group you'd need to be most concerned with.2 points

That is true, but if the state some how does away with the Fair Board does that change the terms with Hart and company since ownership goes back to the state of Kentucky in the end? I have no idea how that would work. It doesn't seem like it would be too smart to do anything to make the park less likely to succeed and cause foreclosure. Regardless of election results the party responsible would not look too good to the public. The whole thing is just a sticky sticky mess. That's why I think Hart has to be a bit crazy to be apart of it...2 points

I can not wait. These events are really fun, and I enjoy meeting up with other club members.2 points

It rained all day on April 29, 1972. An Enquirer photo from that day can be seen at this link. The photo shows crowds on I-Street scattering, trying to find shelter from the falling rain. http://retro.cincinnati.com/Topics/Gallery/Kings-Island-Construction#Bashing The Bubbly2 points

I think the video pushed Soak City a little too far out. It will probably continue to be a sort of bonus/secondary part of Kind Island, unlike KK and HW where the water park is treated as equally or more important. I definitely don't mind personally since I only go to the water park once our twice a season. It's due before 2020 though. Many of the slides are original to the park in the late '80s. Since 2004 the water park has only received 3 all-new attractions, the mat slide, the funnel and the new wave pool. I know I've said this before, but the best place for a new woodie is where the 1993 Bat sits now because of the woods and terrain. I'm not rushing to tear out The Bat mind you. In an ideal situation I'd like a CCI-like design with GCI reliability; those might be incompatible . Anyone ever notice how many trees they gutted when they built SOB? I've seen the difference on Google Earth.2 points

1. There is no infrastructure left, just the area near the water park and the Dipper. 2. Cost/expense. What would the ROI be for the company to rebuild the park. 3. You are probably more likely to see a buyer buy the whole land, and slowly rebuild starting at the side of the park that is not in ruins....2 points

A random memory popped into my head from SeaWorld Orlando involving the stingray petting pool....a guest picks up a stingray out of the water and drops the poor thing on the ground. Thankfully attendants got there in time to get the stingray back in the water where he belonged and guest was escorted out. Ugh...just another example of dumb people.2 points

It will be interesting to see what rides they have open. I would assume Millie and Rougarou with the big party at the Luminosity stage.2 points

I lost my iPhone last year at Kings Island, used my friends iPhone and tracked it, it was on the move. It went from the festhaus to Banshee. ( I rode Banshee earlier that day). I walked into the Banshee exit while having it play sound. asked the ride op about the phone and they ended up having it. I have no idea how it ended up out of my pocket. Or ended up at the festhaus at one point. I'm happy I got it back tho.2 points

Theft and impersonating police officers... it's really a shame that the culprits weren't arrested. After remotely erasing data, I probably would have given them the code - so that they could keep producing evidence against themselves. For the future, plastic bags work well to protect valuables in your pockets on water rides.2 points

What are the odds? Hopefully is was a lesson learned......not just for amusement parks but life in general.2 points

Great question. When you purchase the Memory Maker, it will be linked to your MagicBand and then linked to any other MagicBand assigned to your My Disney Experience App. We had a party of 5 and each MagicBand was linked to the Memory Maker. There is nothing to do for when you get off the ride. The photos are automatically added to your Memory Maker photopass online. We tried this with both FastPass+ and NonFastPass+ rides and it worked each time. As far as I know there is no limit to the number of on ride photos you can get. A really neat system and I highly recommend it.2 points

May 29th and June 12th Cedar Point is having a celebration for high school seniors only. Sounds pretty cool. ERT, games, and a party are on the list. Not many other details released yet. Any high school seniors out there might want to take a look. https://www.cedarpoint.com/item/Youth-Programs-9-10-14-29/Grad-Nite?mobile=01 point

I think that's the plan. Probably as early as this year.1 point

For rollercoaster addition id like to see a b&m floorless or a Intamin giga. ( Not a floorless 300ft B&M. ) for flats I'd would love to see an enterprise, Ferris wheel, or a trabant since Coney Island made the poor decision of removing theirs. As for Soak City I'd like to see more slides, or better yet a water coaster.1 point

I'll definitely want to go! Not sure if I'd go to the May 29th one since my actual graduation will be bright and early the next day, but maybe the June 12th one!1 point

When you start hoping and praying your 2015 Dorney Park Platinum Pass works in the Carolinas.1 point

The article was posted in September, and it stated that it was still on the property at that time. I don't know if anything has changed, but ScreamScape did have a link where you could purchase the rides that were leaving. We all know the park isn't in a position to purchase the rides. We went in August of 2013, and there were only a handful of bumper cars working then too.1 point

As far as Witch's Stew, it was operating in August 2014. I spoke to the person who runs the Save Conneaut Lake Facebook page...who visits the park often (lives close by I believe) stated that to their knowledge Witch's Stew is still on property. Terpy I did forget Devil's Den...it was good, I liked it. The Turtles were also good...but my top 3 stays the same Speaking of 3....when Gator family and I visited in August, we rode the bumper cars....had 3 cars on the floor....from what I could tell, the only 3 operational. They were sad...one wouldn't move until it was bumped from behind with another car. Sad state.1 point
