  1. Saturday Top Gun: guy in front of my 9 year old was holding his camera out recording while riding. I was silently cussing him hoping he didn't get the ride stopped or lose phone and hit my kid. It didn't fly out of his hand, but ride ops stopped him at exit and made him delete it, which he cry babied and complained about the whole exit till I turned around and told him lucky it didn't come out and hit my daughter or he would have had more than deleting a video to worry about. Saturday Mystic Timbers of course ppl arguing about backpacks. Sunday while waiting for train to pull up to station to get off Woodstock, heard ride op repeat at least 3 times not to climb on the gate. (Kids climbing, adults not bothering to make them stop), a pause, then VERY LOUDLY told them to get off the gate. Again Sunday: Race for your life ops repeatedly saying to same lady put phone away while riding. Lady didn't listen cause next we hear "IT IS ILLEGAL UNDER OHIO STATE LAW TO RECORD OR TAKE PHOTOS WHILE RIDING." Lady finally put it away. Carousel by Eiffel Tower: ops repeatedly having to tell someone area was non-smoking. Honestly in 2 days there I don't see how anyone doesn't lose their mind with visitors. I'll remember next time I'm there if someone seems a bit short with me: there are some real PITA ppl they gotta put up with... DAILY.

  2. A few emergency vehicles in the Soak City lot. What’s your vote? Firecracker or sidewalk chalk?

  4. Maybe the old gift shop will be the new station for the giga.

  5. I always thought the gift shop across from the Banshee exit was much better suited for being the "Banshee" gift shop.

  6. My 9 year old kid has a bucket list, but don't think she'll make it all this year: Ride the Viking ship- first ride of every visit since she was tall enough. Ride Slingshot (unless I find a volunteer so go she's outta luck) Ride Xtreme Skyflyer(see Slingshot) Ride Banshee -complete but barely made height requirement Ride Diamondback- 1.5 inches to go Ride Flight of Fear-1.5 inches to go Ride Beast- finally got on it Win riding the Blue racer- took 4 rides but got it. Ride Vortex at night- done Got to Halloween Haunt for her birthday- still undecided on agreeing. Get me to go up the Eiffel Tower- okay I did but I didn't agree to stay so was on next elevator down while her and dad stayed lol.

  7. We went for the first time 7pm Saturday. I love the show, there are parts that amaze me and the mom in me thinks oh God please don't give the kid any ideas (I'm thinking of you guys doing bars lol). I can definitely appreciate the challenge of performing and making things look so easy. Cirque has drawn my attention since I was a kid so being able to see even a portion is one of my favorite parts about visiting.

  9. Open the menu in the upper left and turn 3D off. You'll then get much more up-to-date imagery showing Banshee and Mystic Timbers. You have to do this every time you load Google Maps, as it always defaults to 3D on.

  10. Seems kind of trashy TBH. I very, very rarely buy anything at these (exit through the) gift shops, but to me it is all part of the experience, at least browsing to see what they had...esp. with such a brandable coaster like Banshee.

  11. I thought it was a bit ill conceived to add it at the bottom of the staircase like they did below the station. At least have it after a longer path so the people thin out a bit before entering. Its one of the worst bottleneck points in the park, especially with Banshee's mass capacity.

  12. Got this from guest services. They confirmed that they didn't realize the 7:00 show was being removed until 7:15 tonight. It all makes sense, but just wasn't communicated well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. If I remember correctly, it was built to be heavily themed and be as much Indiana Jones like as possible. There used to be mist all along the low track and parts where arrows came up and down in the tunnels as well as a number of skeletons along the ride. There was a track closed sign as well at one of the tunnels. When Paramount owned KI, they played the Raiders March, aka the Indiana Jones theme through the overhead speakers along with commentary. I have always liked AE as a coaster. Great starter coaster for growing kids. My 6 year old son rides it and just rode Stunt Coaster for the first time a few weeks ago. A park has to have in betweens for the transition from kids rides to bigger ones. I figure The Bat will be his next one. He likes steel coasters best.

  15. ^^ It’s honestly sad a lot of times because people only “hear” ride ops when they’re finally yelling or being stern with guests. But most don’t notice that this is not them being rude, it’s just them not being heard by the dis-obeying guests the first 3 times so they have to raise their voice. I wish they didn’t, but like you’ve observed, guests really can be completely oblivious sometimes. The ride ops do a lot to keep people safe and sometimes that means being stern with the guests. 16. This was posted after the 5pm show tonight. Also, in case you didn’t know, the only show that is sensory-sensitive is the 11:30.

  18. Looks like the 11:30 thing will be all week. App still says 3,5,7. Guest services knows about the confusion yet still nothing is done. Sad...

  19. @magentalizard and I watched the 11:30 show this morning, and they did keep the house lights on. They lowered the music volume, and took out Jett’s laser act. Brigid (blue girl alien) had a new little ditty during the bar act. Nobody came out during the pre-show. @lieutenantphil is bringing his A game per usual. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Cross threading just a bit here. I am enjoying reading the Adventure Express history thread. So many details lost to time. Maybe we should start a thread as a new attraction opens to give specific details about it. Like with Mystic Timbers, all the little details. It would be good to record history has it happens.

  21. I think a little Son of Beast museum at the exit would be cool or maybe even a history of Banshee area.

  22. Storm Chaser Review: Yesterday I had the opportunity to ride Storm Chaser 21 times in a three hour period. After being slightly disappointed with Steel Vengeance’s lack of insane ejector, I wanted to make an effort to get to Kentucky Kingdom. Interestingly, Storm Chaser opened an hour after the park itself opened. I ran into the plaza, through the queue, and into the station. Despite the one hour delayed opening of Storm Chaser, ops still had to wait for their supervisor to check restraints, back pads, and run two test trains. Sadly the back row was closed due to a poor adhesive job. There was no question... Only one train was going to be in operation throughout the day, however, this seemed to cause no problems. I boarded into a middle row for my first ride. I tightened my restraint, allowing a substantial gap between by thighs and the restraint. The op who checked my restraint encouraged this and never tightened my restraint. We slowly pulled out of the station, gaining speed and descending to the right. I immediately noticed the lack of clever tensioning mechanism (I would love for u/noxegon to explain this), providing a slight jolt when the train engages the chain. The ascent was quick and relatively steep, providing amazing views of downtown Louisville and the rolling Indiana hills. The bank left is taken quickly no matter your seat. The first drop is a definite highlight of the ride experience, giving sensations I’ve felt no where else. The “hangtime” acts in such whacky ways. The best way to describe this phenom is “reverse airtime”. I felt the front provided this sensation the best. The train quickly rises again into the star moment of the ride, a large parabolic airtime hill. This hill provided the craziest sustained ejector airtime I’ve ever felt (stronger than any Vengeance pop). Gaining speed quickly, the train glides through a 140 degree overbank turn, making it the second inversion. The extreme diversification through the first three elements allow for a top tier RMC case to be made. The train rockets up into an off-axis airtime hill, again, providing extreme ejector airtime. It then dips into a small turnaround, this element slams you into your seat allowing for you to experience positive forces. Then again, you get insane ejector twice in a row with a twisted airtime hill and another airtime hill. Both these moments feel like you’re riding a buckin’ bronco. Once you hit your seat your upside down in the best zero-g-roll (corked roll) I’ve experienced. You feel weightless without getting dragged out of your seat. It’s a refreshing element before all hell breaks loose. This fabled section of track compares to no other. Your thighs grimace and prepare for Lucifer’s lash... The trick track double-up and double down. No words can describe this element. You can hear the anti-rollbacks retract and fall after every pop. The ride concludes with a underrated, low to the ground “FEAR” helix and inward banking turn, which caught me off by surprise. That element felt somewhat similar to Vengeance’s in between the first and second inversion. The unbanked turn into the brakes packs lateral forces into a somewhat perfect coaster. The extreme diversification of forces makes for a seamlessly flawless coaster. It’s short layout packs every force under the sun. I preferred the front of the train, the “hangtime” in the downward barrel roll drop felt exponentially stronger. This coaster is a MUST ride! A 10/10 ride and possibly my favourite coaster (ahead of Vengeance).

  23. Here is a brief 1991 commercial that shows some of the marketing materials for AE, including a statue head that didn't appear in the ride. I remember being disappointed about that. haha

  24. The Banshee gift shop was closed and cleared out at the start of July. I believe the arcade machines moved in this week. The station/exit building is a cool space, so it's a bit sad to see the former gift shop area going to waste. I will say that in all my times riding Banshee, I can't recall seeing anyone buy something there.

  25. Guest services gave me this. Basically it's like any other week, but there is an 11:30 gravity show which says it's sensory friendly... Which is why the 7:00 show didn't happen this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  28. Also, as more lockers are required, I would expect these end of ride shops to do worse... As some will leave their wallets in the locker. You can probably jump out before entering the building... But it's not going to save much time as the interior is really open now, so it doesn't slow you down at all to walk through. 29. All merchandise has been removed and there are several crane games in there now. I prefer it this way, because that particular gift shop was always awkward, IMHO. From what I've heard, it was also particularly vulnerable to theft.

  30. We were really shocked after scanning FunPix yesterday. Woah what happened here? Hopefully they will do something with that room as it just doesn’t feel right at all. Black lights and spooky music, IDK but something.

  31. No. I think this is fairly recent. Looks REALLY lame. Retail is an aspect of the park that needs some work. It’s such a good way to increase guest spending, but you have to give them something good to buy. Shot glasses with a ride logo on them can only go so far. “Ride theme” shops are hard to keep relevant for long.

  34. This has probably been this way all year, but I noticed it tonight... The gift shop at the exit of Banshee has been totally conveyed to a crane machine arcade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
