  1. Just wanted to check in to say that he rode every coaster he was tall enough for and generally loved them all. This picture cracked me up, especially because when it was over he wanted to do it again. We even rode The Beast twice in a row. He's a brand new enthusiast!

  2. I don't think you will be disappointed. Great book.

  3. Maybe they can continue to grow this, or… crazy idea… elevate the food offerings on a regular basis. Things are definitely better, but I’d pay more to have food along these lines daily, and the quick sell out demonstrates there’s a demand for it. Would I think be a better read on the market for it if it WASNT on the dining plan. If people had to pay for it would be interesting to see if it sell drew such a crowd.

  4. The kids area absolutely needs over hauled. More shade or some method to cool off. It can get brutally hot over there. I think in general beside Cedar Point the shade a Kings Island is horrible. Look at Carowinds kids area. Full Of nice grown in trees

  5. Obviously not something like I-305. That was basically pushing the limits of too intense. Maverick while being intense is tolerable for the average guest and is very popular which is why it always has a full shaded part of queue and sometimes a full queue.

  6. I saw a pic of the pork on Instagram. It looked delicious. Id like to see two things from the food people. More elevated food offerings. And some dirt cheap options. I’d love to see hot dog carts. Just people serving cheap foil wrapped hotdogs that people could grab then hop in line and keep riding. I think you could feed a family for cheaper and greatly reduce the crowds at restaurants for little cost.

  7. I wonder if a Screamin' Swing would fit in there. I kind of doubt it, but that's never been done before (to my knowledge).

  8. I hope they were laughing WITH the handle, and not AT the handle…that would be rude! (Not meaning this to be a jerk..it just struck me as funny.)

  9. Finally ordered my copy and cannot wait to receive it tomorrow. I've been going to the park since 1975 and this history will be a true walk through time for me.

  10. I got this email earlier from Indiana Beach, They are expanding hours starting this weekend. I am a little confused by this because comments on their Facebook page seem to suggest they are having issues getting help as well.

  11. I saw the extended preshow yesterday, I really liked it! I liked the original one a lot, and the new one is longer with some very nice animations that communicate the story very well to guests.

  12. I think Cedar Fair is taking a more cautious approach with their calendars than Indiana Beach. Cedar Fair is only opening for days and hours they know they will have appropriate staffing. In the beginning of the season, Cedar Fair was not doing this, but they got a lot of negative attention for being understaffed. Now, Cedar Fair has limited park operating days and hours to ensure they are appropriately staffed, and guests are now mad that they are limiting hours. Parks like Six Flags and Indiana Beach seem to be operating beyond their means. Many of these parks don’t have enough staff to do so, but I guess they don’t care and are doing it anyways.

  13. Please don't tear out any more trees. In all honesty we don't need intensity. Only a certain age range can deal with intense rides. Look at I-305

  14. Or just tear down the crypt building and start from scratch. You could definitely fit something like Maverick there. Imagine a Maverick coaster there ripping through the woods like The Beast does. I copied and pasted Maverick there and it fits (made sure it was to scale as much as possible)

  15. No, it is not. I went ahead and booked a day on 8/27, hoping against hope that maybe they'll open to fully vax US travel by then. August calendar looks nice, it's always our favorite month to visit our home park. Open all 31 days, 10pm closures.

  16. To raise additional revenue for the park, how about the monsters in the MT shed be changed to known local advertising characters? Oh no! It’s the Big Boy!! Or... OMG it’s Rosie Red!! Run!

  17. Some kid probably has been trying remote codes on every MT ride for a few years and finally found it.

  18. Meanwhile, I am sitting here collecting unemployment reading the arguements and mad as an old wet hen because the pizza place down the street doesn't have a delivery driver. None of this is true. We all have answers greater than what we are seeing, but we are not in charge. We all have a better way of doing things, until we are asked to do them. Or maybe we have tried our better way, and we are the ones being criticized for not doing the way someone else thinks it should be done. I see so many times on here where respect for others has went out the window because we don't agree, and I may have done this as well. Most of the times the words typed sound different when they are read. For those on here, my apologies if I have offended, but I will speak how I think. You don't have to agree, but we can discuss with respect. My 2 cents, we are in a time like never before, and we can point fingers all day long and blame everything and everyone around us for every problem. There is a time and place for every complaint, as well as a place for every praise. Not every business handled things perfect, and we make our decisions upon that. If KI did not offer you what you think you should have received, take your money elsewhere, just like a restaurant that you receive bad service from. You don't go back. Or, you hope it was a one time problem and it gets taken care of, and you move on. I am a GP with a platinum pass with my wife, am I unhappy with KI, no. Could they have done things better? I don't know. Am I going to renew my pass, probably.

  20. Some additional "on the ground" experience data for everyone... apologies up front if too lengthy. Had a planned visit yesterday (6/15) to KI for a full day of dry park activities. First of all, the day was awesome!!! Taking a mid-week day off of work to enjoy the park is well worth it. I was a little concerned about crowds, as the weather forecast was known to be "cooling down" after the recent heat, and CP is still closed Tues/Wed possibly pushing the numbers up at KI--but the crowds were very reasonable. I was able to get 2 rides during early ERT on Orion, then also completed the day with 2 more rides just before 8pm (boo on the 8pm closings, looking forward to longer hours soon). Went through most of the coasters at the park (but didn't hit up Planet Snoopy). Also was able to ride numerous flats, and got a great view of the parking lot (which wasn't full) from WindSeeker. The longest wait...BLSC, ugg that line moves sooo slow--will probably start skipping it. Also noticed everyone is getting assigned rows, even on The Beast (I was used to them allowing some flexibility there...). Depending on the operators, they may be accommodating if you asked for a specific row and there weren't a lot of people in the station--it was really specific to the situation. The ride restraint checking consistency is bizarre. Some rides they tug on the seatbelt, and restraint after you fasten them (asking you for hands up), others they want to push the restraint down for you after you fasten the seatbelt. Then some want you to tug on the seatbelt visually for them, but then they pull on the restraint later to check, and finally the best was a "giggle the handle" request on The Bat where you were asked to check the OTH restraint by actually shaking it. For a seasoned rider, this just struct me as odd. I wasn't sure whether to hold my hands up, or to assist while they watch. The ride announcers didn't always help in clearing this up either. I realize some of this is training, and post-Covid policies evolving. General notes: I really liked all the now functional theming on Adventure Express, we also stopped to watch the clock on the Festhaus and people around got involved with the chicken dance. Still noticed a lot of training going on, with supervisors and red shirts working together in a number of positions. Stacking was rather likely on many rides; everything was functioning, but it didn't feel like people had hit a good "groove" yet. By the way, Orion has a really hard lurch at the break run where you slam back into the seat--I think they could tame this with some better control logic. Also, one of the screens in Mystic Timbers was still down (recalling from someone's prior comments). Bathrooms were clean enough, but paper towels seemed to be a little sparse (numerous empty holders). It was hit or miss on the sanitizer dispensers throughout the park (usually more of a miss with more empty). Hit up Coney Bar-B-Que and Brewhouse for meals, both were excellent in terms of the food. The Brewhouse had some issues with order delivery (two out of three orders arrived with no issues, but the third one was lost?), they eventually figured it out. Got some Graeters ice cream for an afternoon cool down, unfortunately they are understaffed here and really need some training. You would order and pay for your ice cream order, and then again tell the person actually making the ice cream what you ordered (with some corrections about what needs to be ON the sundae per the menu board)--needs some work here. Free ice water was easy to get everywhere, no issues. Crowds seemed okay with no "media newsworthy" events. But I did witness two line jumping situations (both on Mystic Timbers). The first attempt was sad and people called them out for it, they left the line on their own. The second attempt we saw from the top of the stairs just before the station, but it was occurring down below in the back section. The line separator also heard the commotion and witnessed what had occurred and said "they won't be riding today"--I'm not sure how that was eventually resolved. Phones on rides still seems to be a thing...why? Last ride of Orion someone in the front proceeded to selfie video their entire ride (with their arm up at a 45° angle), not sure how you can actually enjoy a ride even trying to do that. He did manage to hold onto the phone (lucky for us behind him during the ride, but I really wished he had lost it at the break run). Unfortunate commonality in all of the above events--tweens. I really hate to broad brush an age group like that, just noting the apparent age (and lack of maturity) of those in the infracting groups. In summary, it still has an "early in the season" vibe to it, but overall a great day. The number of rides we were able to hit was great, even with the shortened hours. It felt as though everyone on the staff we interacted with were really trying their best to make it a great day. Can some of the above be in the "nit-picking" category, absolutely. I just wanted to share all of my personal experiences with the group.

  21. @BeastForever I remember that as well. Much like how many people want Timberwolf demolished, tearing out existing infrastructure is always a bad idea when you have the ability to fix it up. Once infrastructure is gone, its hard to bring it back.

  22. Yep all is good. The Bob Ross plush dolls stayed on Orion and the rides are tested with legless water dummies, so your kid will be fine. Look at all the kids over the years who had parents that had them wear platform shoes or stuff their shoes with stuff to make them reach the magical height and none of them flew out. There is a factor of safety inherent in the rider specs as well. Believe me, no park or manufacturer wants to be responsible for some little kid flying out because they just barely met the rider requirements. Keep in mind when rides like Racer and Beast opened, they were just buzz bars that didn't go down very far with no seatbelts and no middle divider. No little kid flew out of them. We had a lot of freedom in those seats back then. Now those rides have seatbelts, adjustable restraints to better fit to the person in the seat, and a middle divider so a single rider doesn't go sliding back and forth around turns. You know all the fun stuff when we were kids lol. And of course you will be sitting next to him probably holding on to his leg as well LOL. Enjoy the day. You will create memories for you and your son that will last a lifetime. These are the fun moments of going to the park. Enjoy them. Tell her to stay home if she will be a debbie downer
