  1. I am sad for all of the workers at Coney. I am hopeful that KI will try to buy and keep as many of the rides so that they will still be able to be ridden locally.
  2. I agree. I would definitely love to see us pick up the Tilt a Whirl and Flying Bobs and from a capacity standpoint, neither one are horrible for classic flats. I think CF would also be smart to pick up the Scrambler and send it to one of the parks that doesn't have one as well. I doubt they would pick up Tempest or Rock-O-Plane but those would be nice as well.
  3. I went through each of the 11 main Cedar Fair parks, excluding Gilroy Gardens, and looked at their flat ride collections compared to ours. I looked at each of the park's collections and then for the purposes of this list took away the comparable rides to ours. I also did not count children's only rides in this list. In looking at the pro's and con's of these, I will be looking at the last installation by year of the ride type, any removals throughout the rest of the chain, and the chain's recent relationship with the manufacturer. All of the rides below are rides that we currently do not have. For simplicity, I also combined similar ride types (i.e. a Music Express and Matterhorn) as while there are minor differences they are basically the same ride. I am only going to look at rides that there are at least 3 rides elsewhere. In case you were wondering, the flat rides that are in all 11 main Cedar Fair parks are Bumper Cars, the Carousel, and Flying Scooters. Trabant (4 parks), Calypso (3 parks), and Swing Around (3 parks) are all defunct models so I also didn't include them. Of the ones we don't have that are still manufactured: Ferris Wheel (6 parks: CP, DP, KD, MiA, VF, WOF) (Last installation: KD 2009 (GL relocation)) Pros: There are several areas in the park where it would look nice and it is a great family ride. Cons: They have low efficiency. With Newport building a permanent Ferris Wheel and Cincinnati working to keeps theirs full time, it probably doesn't make much sense to add one at the current time. Musik Express / Matterhorn / Himalaya/ SeaStorm (6 parks: Carowinds, CP, DP, MiA, VF, WOF) (Last installation: Nordic Chaser, WOF 2018) Pros: Something everyone in the family can do and could go anywhere in the park. Carowinds' Rock n' Roller was the most popular flat ride in the park in 2018 according to their blog. There are various manufacturers but Cedar Fair seemingly has a good working relationship with Mack who manufactured both Nordic Chaser and Rock n' Roller which was part of the Europe flat ride finds. Cons: Coney Island does have a Himalaya but I don't think that would be a determining factor. Enterprise (4 parks: CAGA, Carowinds, DP, and WOF) (Last installation: DP 1984) Pros: It is a fun and classic amusement park ride. Cons: Considering that the chain has dramatically been reducing their fleet of Enterprise due to maintenance costs, this one is not going to happen. I could see something like a Zamperla Endeavor but we aren't going to get a Huss Enterprise. Tilt-a-Whirl (4 parks: CP, DP, MiA, and VF) (Last installation: DP 2002) Pros: The Tilt-a-Whirl is a good family ride and is one of those rides that could easily go anywhere in the park with the right themeing. It also takes up a relatively small footprint. Larson International now has the rights to the building of the Tilt a Whirl and the park has put another Larson product in the Flying Scooters in many of the parks in the chain. They also put in a Larson Loop at ValleyFair. The ride can also be themed nicely (see Turkey Whirl at Holiday World) Cons: Another ride that Coney Island has. Looping Starship (3 parks: Carowinds, KD, and VF) (Last installation: Carowinds 1986) Pros: Visually appealing. Cons: Considering its manufacturer is Intamin that pretty much knocks it off the list immediately. None of the parks that have a standard pirate/swinging ship also have a Looping Starship. This one also isn't happening. CF also removed the one from CAGA recently as well. Top Scan (3 parks: CW, Carowinds, and KBF) (Last installation Carowinds/KBF 2017) Pros: The chain seemingly has a good relationship with the manufacturer Mondial. They had enough faith in the model to put it in two of their parks (even if Carowinds was part of the European scavenger hunt). Would be another "thrilling" flat. Cons: It wouldn't appeal to everyone in the family. Of this list I would say the most likely are: 1. Musik Express 2. Top Scan 3. Tilt-a-Whirl
  4. Correct you have to get platinum dining but it is only like $25-$30 more depending on when you upgrade. As long as you eat two meals at the other park it pays for itself.
  5. ^ I agree I think we will see a Dive or Floorless before we see a Wing. As far as the next Wing in the chain, I could see KD getting one because they need a reliable people eater, something to replace Volcano, and it would be something different than what BGW has.
  6. I think more of the Wisteria tunnels (similar to the one by WWC) around the park would also be nice, not only for shade but also for more clearly defining the lands in the park.
  7. ^ I agree. I really wonder whatever happened with the Japan expedition. I would love to see something like the Huss Condor (Falcon's Flight) come to KI. It was an enjoyable ride when I rode it at Worlds of Fun and unlike most flats it has decent capacity.
  8. I doubt this coaster ever gets built. It reminds me of when I used to build these insanely long log flumes on Roller Coaster Tycoon. Just because you can build it on a computer doesn't mean it makes logical sense.
  9. There was this one (a Huss Breakdance 4) that they bought that never did find a home. All of the rest to my knowledge are spoken for. CF never did announce if they found anything when they went on the scavenger hunt across Japan though.
  10. Overall, I think KI has the best operations of any of the over 30 parks I've been to. We truly are spoiled by how good they are.
  11. ^ And it looked very nice. It just didn't ride as well as it looked.
  12. The problem S&S and Premier both have for a park like KI are that they don't have high capacity. Look at the slow moving lines for our existing Premier coasters FOF and BLSC. I will give the BLSC crew credit though they are very efficient considering the low capacity.
  13. Dominator at KD, Hydra at Dorney, and Bizarro at SFNJ (NJFTP) are all ground up floorless. Bizarro was my favorite of the three but the other two are also great coasters. I would much prefer a floorless to a dive.
  14. I feel like the park has done a good job of listening to guest feedback. We wanted Antiques back, we got Antiques back. We wanted a Giga, we're getting a Giga. The coaster manufacturer that I hear most from people is RMC. Plus a wooden coaster in AZ would give a nice contrast to all of the steel over there.
  15. ^ It is usually open the first few weeks of Haunt then it closes down for Winterfest prep.
  16. I expect the next coaster will probably be a GCI out towards the beach over by Wicked Twister. I could also see them adding a Mack spinner like Time Traveler, but I think that all depends on how popular Copperhead Strike is at Carowinds. Obviously Copperhead Strike is a different model than Time Traveler but they are probably a similar cost. Plus do they really need another launch coaster when they have TTD and Maverick in the same park.
  17. I like that they are trying to preserve as many trees as possible with this layout compared to Diamondback where they seemingly just took out everything in a half mile radius. Obviously a lot trees were still taken out but it doesn't appear that they are taking anything out that is not necessary.
  18. I agree with @SonofBaconator that I would much rather see something like a bigger, longer Goliath at SFGAm. It gives that big in your face ride structure that Son of Beast had while being glass smooth.
  19. It also wouldn't surprise me if the next coaster is more in the mid-range family coaster a la Firechaser Express or something like the Dark Knight Coaster / Laff Trakk. Then the next coaster after that could be another major thrill coaster like an RMC or a Floorless/Dive.
  20. Yes, this should be a people eater much like Banshee is. The four across seating really helps push people thru.
  21. I think this concern that a hyper and a giga are the same is unfounded anyway. Leviathan and Behemoth are very different coasters as are Fury and Intimidator. I expect Orion to be a speed machine and the lack of a MCBR should make it better overall layout than Diamondback which loses some of its greatness after the MCBR.
  22. The water park addition looks nice. I do expect the next coaster to come in 2021 as I think the park has lost so many coasters over the last decade or so (Volcano, Hypersonic, and Shockwave) that they need to add something at least. I do think a B&M wing is the most likely as it is something that BGW doesn't have and it would be an efficient and popular attraction for the park.
  23. I too am a big fan of the tri-tip at Coney BBQ. It is my go to meal when I want something quick. I feel like pound for pound, Coney BBQ is the most efficient dining location in the park. I wish they would have more dining locations 0with that efficient of a set up. I would love to see Festhaus get the Harmony Hall treatment in the next couple years.
