  1. While at this point IMO KK is a half day park, them growing can only be a good thing for us as KI fans. More competition is going to make KI invest more to keep people coming to KI. If the addition is a Raptor that is the perfect type of addition for KK.
  2. If Vortex was built in the days of social media, it would probably be, "I can't believe Kings Island is building another Arrow, they expect this to be something that lasts a long time? They should've went with Togo."
  3. One interesting option would be if they did something like the Gravity Group coaster that Dorney is getting. It would seem to check a lot of boxes (small footprint, likely low cost).
  4. When I saw @King Ding Dong had posted in this thread, I was hoping we could color our own Rivertown Freestyle location.
  5. I'm definitely looking forward to the reverse trebel clef, as the trebel clef is my favorite of Fury's elements. I also think that helix near the end has the potential to be the best element. I do think this is going to be a case like a Lightning Rod where even though a short ride, it packs so many elements in that it will be a great coaster and should easily be the best steel coaster in the park.
  6. I can attest to the fact that Lost Coaster will valley with less than four people. They sent my car with just three people. We got halfway thru the course and came to a dead stop. After what seemed like 10 or 15 minutes, maintenance walked up, re-set the ride, and we finished the course. Definitely the strangest coaster experience I've ever had.
  7. Great news. I enjoyed IB a lot when I went there a couple years ago. I look forward to see what improvements they make.
  8. Yeah basically the gist of what was said is we don't remove rides just because enthusiasts don't like them. Wonderland is relatively land locked so I think when they are ready to build another coaster that is when something will get removed. Being how busy that park gets, they do need to try to add something with good capacity.
  9. I really enjoy Wonderland but after their top 3 (Leviathan, Behemoth, and Yukon Striker) it goes down quickly. The fourth best coaster in the park is probably Vortex (which is the exact same layout as our Top Gun/The Bat). I like Minebuster more than most but aside from those all of the rest of the coasters are easily replaceable. I attended the Coasters 'Eh event there last year and they have no plans to get rid of Flight Deck (my worst coaster ever). I could see Time Warp leaving though and a Mack Multi-Launch would go good in that area of the park. An RMC or GCI would also be great in the park but they would have to work thru the builder issues mentioned a few posts above.
  10. I could see the chain going to a Mondial, Gerstlauer, or Larson and buying some flat rides in bulk. It would likely bring the cost down. I could see them for example putting a Mondial Top Scan at KI, KD, WOF, DP, and CP. Carowinds, Wonderland, and Knott's already have one.
  11. One of the things I have been wondering is if theme parks reconsider queue design and also the amount of restroom facilities. While KI is in relatively good shape on the restroom component, it probably wouldn't hurt to have another restroom between The Beast and the train station, another one closer to the Eiffel Tower, and of course one in Area 72 (since we haven't had that officially confirmed). Obviously there are costs associated with that, but it makes sense to have more.
  12. ^ I had always heard because they wanted to make Drop Zone/Drop Tower the tallest structure.
  13. I'm glad that Cedar Fair and Kings Island are doing this for passholders.
  14. An interesting part about the Indiana Beach sale is that it mentions in the article above that they have sold some of the rides already. I wonder which rides they have already sold.
  15. If Invertigo is staying around for a while, they could easily rename it Screamin' Demon. Congo Falls could be Rhine River Falls or something.
  16. I love Shake Rattle and Roll. It is probably my favorite flat in the park and it always gives a good ride.
  17. While I am disappointed that Possessed appears to be leaving, it also makes sense as well. It was a walk on when I was there last year and with the amount of electricity and maintenance costs it may be a case where the costs outweigh the advantages of keeping it open. Looking at the historical stats on Queue Times it looks like it has the shortest waits of anything at Dorney. As far as the new coaster, I was hoping for a GCI but this is a great addition for Dorney. It gives them something very unique and a modern wooden coaster. It also helps remake that area of the park.
  18. While I would be happy with a Mack, I think we get more bang for our buck with other manufacturers and coaster types.
  19. Having ridden both Time Traveler and Copperhead Strike, I would agree that their launches aren't that forceful. Both of those coasters are great rides though but Maverick overall is better than both of them. Maxx Force (S&S) was extremely forceful but from a pure efficiency standpoint it wouldn't work at KI and I'm not sure why Six Flags put it at SFGA (also a very busy park) as there are much higher capacity multi launch coasters.
  20. ^ It would have great if when they were looking at building SOB, that they would just done Shivering Timbers 2.0. That would have been a great addition.
  21. I really enjoyed KD when I was there in '18, but I think that KD and CF in a way are between a rock and a hard place. It is much the way that Dorney is where it is located so close to a much more attended park, so does CF get the bang for their buck? From a family flats collection they are actually in pretty good shape. They'll probably need a classic pirate ship as I can't see Berzerker (Looping Starship) lasting that many more years. They could probably put in a Musik Express or Tilt a Whirl but honestly they have a good collection. From a thrilling flat collection, they could look to put in something like a Mondial Top Scan or a Gerstlauer Sky Roller. A Screamin' Swing would be great but BGW just added one last year. The coaster standpoint is where it gets difficult because they need to add stuff that is unique compared to what BGW has. That takes out all of the B&M models except a Flyer and a Wing. Both of those would be great additions but are they going to get people thru the door? Something like Hangtime or Railblazer would fit in well but are they a showstopper attraction? Probably not. If money were no object I would put in something like Time Traveler. It would be unique to the region, reliable, and would also be a world-class ride. But I doubt CF would spend that much on KD.
  22. ^ I definitely agree. If it was where say BLSC is, it would have a much higher ridership.
  23. If the Red side improves as much this year as Blue did last year, we are in for a treat.
  24. I do think that CF and KI are going to look at a realm of factors with the next coaster installation and if the recent chain history is any indication there are a few options. I think they will weigh initial cost, maintenance/downtime of the existing model, and the popularity/number of riders of the existing model. In no particular order, the types I would think are possible options: B&M Dive: I'm not the world's biggest Valravn fan, but Yukon Striker was really good. Dives are really popular with the general public. Sure it wouldn't be a headliner addition but in a park with Orion, Beast, and Mystic it wouldn't necessarily have to. I also don't think we can discount the closeness of CSF. I would also be happy with a floorless. RMC- No we are not getting nor do we need a conversion. As far as the Raptor model that CGA got from a capacity standpoint that wouldn't be an option for KI. Perhaps something that was a bigger higher capacity model might work. With CF not having done a ground up woodie from RMC who knows if they would go that route. With the issues they have had with SV and TT, who knows if RMC would be option. Gerstlauer- I feel like we hear less about Hangtime because it is on the other side of the country. I think throughput would be a concern. Mack- I enjoyed Copperhead Strike. Obviously the cost would probably be the most expensive of the options. Did Carowinds get the bang for their buck that they were hoping for. If they didn't, then I think that probably knocks out Mack.
