I know this isn't likely, but something I was thinking about with the entrance and queue. Since this ride is going to be very popular and on busy days, Boo Blasters line tends to spill out on the midway, I think what they should do is connect the current queue house with the Peanuts Showplace and move the entrance to the ride to down by the Great Pumpkin Coaster in what is currently the entrance to the Peanuts Showplace. I honestly kinda like the wooded feel down there and it could make it feel like you're going into an overgrown/Haunted theater in the woods. Having 2 separate queue rooms also opens up potential to multiple scenes for this storytelling. I also was thinking if they choose not to go that route they could make the Peanuts Showplace into a Phantom Theater character meet and greet area and museum. If they wanted to create new props/decor for the new ride, they could then (if they still have them) display the old decor from the old Phantom Theater that they had in the PT Encore show lobby in the Peanuts Showplace.

Orion had a giant banner on the fence after it was announced. They also did a daytime Haunt in what was Chaos themed around the Orion storyline as a "pre launch" preview. Tbh I really want to see the daytime/HallowTween Haunts return in the future. I liked what they would do with the corn maze and even last year with the daytime tour of Madame Fatales.

1 person at dispatch is inexcusable tbh. It doesn't help that antique car crew is also responsible for WindSeeker AND Shake Rattle and Roll. Imo it should always be at least 2 dispatchers MINIMUM. Just because they can technically operate antiques with one dispatchers doesn't mean they should. Just like how Dodgem should not be a single op even though it technically can. Or how Viking Fury can run with 2 instead of 3 which slows down operations significantly bc that means the person up at drive has to come all the way down, unlock the gate, check the load side, and go back up and if a safety issue needs corrected they have to go back up and unlock restraints and start over which is a pain.

Why not both Maestro and Larry? I think what will probably happen is they'll have Maestro up there at his organ and there will be lightning and thunder special effects for the "stormy night" part and then have the ghost notes disappear from the organ and then both Maestro and Larry will give instructions to find the notes using the flashlight. Kinda like during the Scooby Doo Haunted Castle days where Scooby and Shaggy were up there telling you how to use the blasters.

I think there's lots of potential with this. Here is a recent installation by Sally Dark Rides at Funtown Splashtown USA in Maine and it looks cool. If Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare is done anywhere close to this, I think we're all in for a treat! This Haunted Hotel theme honestly reminds me a bit of Phantom Theater in a way.

Kings Island to add “family thrill” attraction in 2026
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Well this thread is now officially outdated lol -
I'm honestly wondering what the exterior is going to look like. Will they keep the Castle and dress it up to look like an old opera house like Music Hall? Will they remove the Castle and make the entrance like how it was for the original Phantom Theater? Will they move the entrance to just the right of the exit and make it more on International Street instead of Planet Snoopy? This is interesting to see. I'm honestly leaning towards they'll keep the entrance where it is right now and strip the castle and put up a theater looking building. If so, I'm hoping they remove the stone bridge and put in a pathway that looks like the entrance to a theater.

All I want is them to have Maestro playing the organ in the queue again and PLEASE NO FUN TV'S IN THE QUEUE!!!!

I feel like that got put on the backburner indefinitely if it was planned to go in the crypt. I think the Conjuring will be in the Crypt for at least a few seasons. Now Usually, I would think since we're getting a smaller addition in 2026, that 2027 would be a major addition (kinda like how we got antique cars in 2019 then Orion in 2020). However, with the financial state of Six Flags right now, it wouldn't shock me if the 2027 capital are just postponed 2026 additions (ie Great Adventure launch coaster, Carowinds super flume, Magic Mountain thrill glider etc) and KI likely just gets park improvements or a small flat ride and then 2028 is the big year for KI. Now, I could see 2027 being our year if we end up losing Invertigo and Congo at the end of the season, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Sorry if I sound dumb, but is that a photo from this season? It honestly looks like a photo from years ago. -
Where did Mike Koontz say that? I'm not saying KI managment doesn't regret Vortex's removal since I'm sure their thought back then if you would ask them now is by 2025 a new ride would be there, but then this thing called a pandemic happened basically destroying their 5 year plan and making the ROI on a 30 million dollar investment harder to get. Then you have the merger with Six Flags come into play. I also think while the desire is to replace Vortex before putting a coaster somewhere else, if rides like Invertigo and Congo reach the end of their lives and they have no choice but to remove them, I think they'd change plans and put the next big thing there first as having a giant empty hole right at the front gate is not a good first impression. If that's the case, we may not get a Vortex replacement until around the 60th anniversary in 2032.

May I ask where you got this information from? Also was the planned 2023 SC expansion the same that we got in 2025 and was Pipeline planned to be retired at the end of 2022 for it?

Those days are over lol. I won't message him like that again. I learned my lesson during the Orion thread lol.

Yeah. I left back in July. It was voluntarily and I wasn't fired or forced out. I have no bad blood with the park or company. I had 6 great seasons as a ride op.

I also remember back in 2022 well before Adventure Port was announced that the big rumor was the 2023 addition was going to be a Phantom Theater revival in Boo Blasters. Looking back, maybe that was the original 2023 plan then it got put on hold when Slingshot left and AP came along and Snoopy and Soak City additions were a bigger priority at the time.

Well I no longer work at KI so nothing to worry about lol.

^^ Mason I believe changed the way permits/plans are filed. The website that was used last year when RiverRacers was leaked, has been basically disabled for several months. I don't know if there's a new site or we're back to going to the City Hall for plans. Has anyone tried that yet?

3 more days until the big reveal!!

When it comes to dressing up the exterior of the building, I'd like to see them attempt to make it like this old original concept art

A couple photos I found of me and my next door neighbor at the time in the Mystery Machine prop they had out front of the ride. This was sometime in 2008. I remember bc I remember my dad pointing out the construction for what became Diamondback. I believe this was her first ever visit to KI and it wasn't too long after they moved into the house next door. We would then go on multiple trips to KI together before they moved away in 2011.
