Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
While I wouldn't mind a madhouse or flying theater, part of me wants the building removed as a giant metal warehouse doesn't fit rivertown and replaced with a large rustic lodge restaurant like what Canada's Wonderland just opened with views of Diamondback. I also highly doubt they remove Larosa's as it is an original building to the park and is pretty popular. I like expanding The Beast midway back by the old Beast exit with the little shops. I believe the reddish/brown building to the right of The Beast entrance right behind the current fence was a mine shop at one point and I believe the current entrance where the vending machines are was a small snack stand at one point, but I could be wrong. Also, what would happen in the sheriff office and black smith? I don't really study old western towns or spend time in one so I have no clue what goes on in those. -

Decided to try something a little different. I figured out you can measure points and make a path on Google Earth pro so I basically used Velocicoaster overhead views from Google Maps as my reference and I created something that comes around 5,117 feet in length while being as realistic as possible. Remember this is just an overhead shot and it is just something I came up with. -
What Will Change or Be New For 2023?
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to DeltaFlyer's topic in Kings Island
Doubt it happens in 2023, but man Lazy Bear Lodge at Canada's Wonderland looks so stunning and the food looks awesome! I think something like this would be perfect in Rivertown where the metal box is currently. Basically add this but flip the kitchen/service counter to the left side of where you enter so you can put seating and patios facing Diamondback kinda like how this views Yukon Striker. I really like the fish of the day option and brisket. I'll continue saying I want prime rib like KD has! -

Another thing about Carnivale is I hope it is more like 2019 than 2021. I remember 2019 they had the little stages set up in the different countries with live entertainment. They also would bring in some up and coming bands on the weekends to play on the bandstand. 2021 was a little bit scaled down from 2019 imo. -
What Will Change or Be New For 2023?

I think there is a good excuse as none of the parks adding something next year were set to open a 30 million dollar giga in 2020. My prediction is we'll get some type of new spring event like Frontier Festival or State Line Celebration. I also think we may get the Monster Jam Thunder Alley event as I believe we are one of the few CF parks that hasn't had that event yet. I also think we'll see some sort of new food offerings. Whether that means a new restaurant all together or just some new dishes remains to be seen. I also am hoping we see a good lineup at Timberwolf if they decide to do concerts again next year. -
watercosters and Cedar Fair

A little off topic, but I didn't know WhiteWater West does the playground stuff (ie Forbidden Frontier). Their interactive playsets look really cool. Maybe put it in Snoopy where the Peanuts Gallery formerly theater is. https://www.whitewaterwest.com/en/products/play/adventure-play/ EDIT: Ik we already have a water playground, but these large scale complexes look amazing and are for all ages. Ik KD got one of these that has multiple large buckets. The one in the photo I'm sharing from Mt Olympus has a thrilling looking waterslide attached to it: https://www.whitewaterwest.com/en/products/play/multi-level-play-structures/fusionfortress/ They could keep the current water playground and add one of these behind the wavepools toward the parking lot in the big empty grass area. Make this one for everyone and have the smaller one be for kids only. -
I'm not going to comment too much on this due to reasons, but imo the park and corporate needs to take a serious look at the location of the VIP lounge and need to make some big decisions on what they should offer and whether or not they should consider moving the lounge somewhere else or adding another one. Flavored water and chips is not going to cut it. A good solution would be to add a Coke freestyle stand in there, but then they would need to figure out how to keep the bees away as bees are attracted to them. Trust me, I would not want bees flying around a VIP area. They should honestly take a look at how BGT is doing their passholder lounge where it has an entire building dedicated to it with lots of space and has its own dedicated menu. There is a large space above the entrance that is hardly ever used that would be PERFECT for a VIP area and it wouldn't be too expensive to convert it.

The reason I didn't remove Backlot is because it just got repainted and it is still fairly popular. You can still build a coaster around it or above it. Look at Canada's Wonderland did with Behemoth literally built it on top of their Backlot. I like the whole Carousel park idea. Maybe once CGA closes, Carowinds gets their eagles and we get ours back or vise versa. You could put them in the grass area right by Diamondback's brake run. -

If we want to get a little crazy and not disturb The Beast woods, I made a little concept where it interacts with the pathway basically making it a centerpiece in the middle of the park. I came up with this idea based on the Intamin blitz being built at Parque Warner Madrid where it goes over top pathways. It would also require the removal/relocation of the 3 point challenge as well as some of the area behind Jukebox diner, but if Parque Warner can squeeze in a blitz where they're putting it, I think they could do that here if the park really wanted to. The line for Backlot would have to be changed a little bit, but I made it so it could work. Introducing Tyrant! Rule the Island of Fort Coney! -

That would probably need to run one train to do that as they can't just dispatch the train and load the next train in the station if the reverse launch goes through the station. The only way I could see a swing launch system is if they were to build a new station closer to the brake run and do a switch track after leaving the station (like Ice Breaker) that connects to the current launch. -
2023 Offseason Speculation/Work
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Coasterteam's topic in Kings Island
Or how about prime rib like at KD's Outpost Cafe. Their prime rib look delicious and it is medium rare which is how I like it lol. Especially that mens restroom on I-street. One stall is unacceptable imo especially in the area with the most traffic. -
TBH I think they should move the VIP lounge to the International Restaurant. Honestly would be a good space if they are going to give a large amount of passholders VIP access. Do what BGT is doing with the passholder lounge where the whole space becomes the VIP lounge usage with an exclusive menu and stuff like that. I believe there are multiple rooms up there (currently used for meetings that could be moved to other areas around the park) Make a room into a sports game viewing room where they have TV's and a bar and have another room be a kids room where kids can play. Here's a video of BGT's passholder lounge.

And imo it should be more than the 2 bands that play currently. Trust me, I love River City and Hifi Honey and I 100% still want to see them play, but I'd like them to give more local bands an opportunity. Do what CP does with the Bands in House program. I think they honestly missed a big opportunity on the 50th day (the 29th) by not having more local bands play that day along with RC and HFH. Maybe also do a 4th of July celebration on the 4th and/or 3rd of July and bring in local bands or if they want to go all out, maybe make the 4th a Timberwolf concert and bring a bigger artist in like what Mason does with Red, White, and Boom where I believe they had Smash Mouth this year.

2023 Offseason Speculation/Work
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Coasterteam's topic in Kings Island
Something I'm interested in speculating is where the Soak City VIP lounge will go. I have a couple ideas in mind, but the location I currently have my eyes on is the area behind the volleyball courts that is currently just a seating area. Maybe split the two volleyball courts and make one either a VIP area volleyball court or just a sandbox and have sand toys available for kids. Some other things I am wondering is if we'll see a new event next year. I'm hoping for a food/whine/brew/bbq festival in Rivertown in the spring like CP does with frontier festival or Carowinds did with state line celebration. Maybe call it "Tri-state Celebration" or something along those lines. Also am wondering if we'll get the Monster Jam Thunder Alley event next year as we are one of the last CF parks who hasn't gotten it yet. Valleyfair is getting it this year. Along with Carnivale, I'd like to see a summertime event similar to what Cedar Point and Knotts do with their summer nights thing which we actually were supposed to get in 2020 if Covid hadn't happened. Or you could pull a Busch Gardens and do a full out summer celebration kind of thing and make concerts a part of it. Speaking of concerts, I also wonder if we'll see the Timberwolf concerts return next year and if so, what the lineup will be. Will they just have a Christian night like this year or could we see the return of a 3 day Christian festival? We'll just have to wait and see. Even if we're not getting a ride, it's always fun to speculate on park improvements we could see. -
Please no dive coaster. There are plenty of better coaster options than a dive coaster imo. If there were to be a dive coaster added, I hope it'd be a gerstlauer infinity and not a B&M.

Or here's some ideas for VIP experiences. Make a permanent VIP building in Area 72 with a patio that overlooks Orion and have it be themed to an airport first class lounge. In Oktoberfest, do a VIP bar like what BGW is doing with Burgermeister's Hideaway in their German area https://attractionsmagazine.com/sip-in-secret-at-burgermeisters-hideaway/ -

Based on @brenthodges idea, I decided to make a little drawing on that idea Note: the light blue lines is a waterfall. Obviously, waterfalls aren't easy to draw in paint lol -

I highly doubt they would demolish Larosas as it's been there ever since the park was built. I think they could do a Rivertown "harmony hall" where the crypt building is. I've thought of turning Vortex's plot into a Lake before. Maybe turn the giant hill by Beast's station that you can see from the midway into a waterfall with nice rock work. I actually thought of that several times when I would go into tower gardens this year. I didn't know they actually had a waterfall there. I think tower gardens could use a nice water feature. Maybe a little stream running in the planters. -
Another thing from the Coasterstock Q&A they changed is the way you ask questions. I believe in 2018 or so they let people line up and ask Mike questions directly in the microphone. Now they have you post your questions in the facebook group and Don/Mike picks them. Probably has something to do with that kid who asked about RMCing The Beast/Racer that one year lol.

I believe it was also in Picnic Grove in 17, 18, and 19. 2021 Q&A was in international showplace because they weren't using it at all in 21 I believe.

Guess which KI landmark finally got merch
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Mike specifically said at Coasterstock that his desire is to do concerts next year depending on how successful they are this year. Plus it's also used for music in the parks/cheer competitions in the spring. KI already has a ton of land to expand without removing it. We'll see though. -
Construction Marker behind SlingShot’s former area?
Hawaiian Coasters 325 replied to Orion13's topic in Kings Island
I'm thinking a new restaurant. Any new ride for next season would've been announced the same day the other CF parks announced. KI usually announces new restaurants over the off-season. -
