Former SFNO May Be Sold
The Interpreter replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The Six Flags lease was rejected as part of the bankruptcy. The landlord got the property back, like it or not. -

Hulk trains in trash

That isn't my opinion. My opinion is that as one ages, one's tolerance for violent steel coasters generally declines. -
Hulk trains in trash

I posit that the biggest thing that changed your perception during that timeframe is you aged nearly 10 years. In 1999, I was already 43 when I rode it. From 43 to 60 is a lot less different than from, say, 15 to 24...by middle age, one already "appreciates" roughness far more than when one was younger. Again, I don't think Hulk changed much. Your tolerance for roughness did. -

So, you both rode it in 1999? How interesting. -
Kentucky Kingdom

Thunder Run was built with footings for a transfer track. Then, they were removed. It has never had more than one train operation. Brake changes to run two trains on the existing track? I highly doubt it. -

It wasn't any smoother when it was new. It didn't ride the way it did "because it was old." -
VR coming to 9 Six Flags Coasters
The Interpreter replied to marth555's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I certainly would not want to defend such waivers in a court of law. An amusement park has a duty to exercise a reasonable standard of care in providing for the safety of its guests. I highly doubt it can evade that duty by having a guest execute a waiver. Sure sounds like it would be against public policy. As between the park and the guest, ONE party has far more ability to provide a safe experience than the other. And as for New Jersey.../signal lost/ -

NJFTP is in highly regulated NJ. No VR there this year. That speaks volumes... -

And just imagine how well it will be done (or not done). -
There is a tendency to forget about the court case where the park was found to have been negligent in the operation and maintenance of the ride, resulting in injury to the plaintiff. After that verdict, and before the punitive damages phase, the case was quietly settled out of court on confidential terms...

Immersed rides? Like Shoot the Rapids? too soon? Or perhaps in a religious way? Immersed rather than sprinkled or poured? Infant or adult? Terp, born a Methodist...sampled many others...

Kind of like a Terp This or That: An ice cream cone with the best ice cream ever or see the best sunrise you'll ever see: "Which is objectively better? Please explain your work."

Firehawk FIRST. Unless you want to spend needless time waiting, waiting, waiting... First thing after the park opens. Really. And you will get a LOT more replies if you stop the public poll nonsense. EDIT: Public Poll turned off. Thank you.

There is just over 647 acres total. The missing acreage? Great Wolf Lodge. And the lands Carl Lindner retained when he sold to Paramount. There is a thread here about it. Kings Island Company in the assessor's records. http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/12296-park-acreage/

And some of us were asleep or we would have told 'ya. David's awesome. Every time HW refers to its own PR person as a deity, I cringe. (Note that would have NEVER happened when a Presbyterian minister and former nun graced the park management.) David was not and is not a self-aggrandizer. He quietly went about his business as the supreme, confident. competent, humble, highly respected professional he was and is. The media love, adore and respect David Mandt. He's awesome.

Is the Slingshot or Xtreme Skyflyer better in your mind?
The Interpreter replied to Blackhole6670's topic in KI Polls
Xtreme Skyflyer is great fun. Slingshot? For ME, I'd rather read the phone book.
