  1. http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../307170010/1056 Look at the bottom. Look where the sources came from.
  2. ...and coming from a 2005 Delirium employee. Anyway, I agree 100% that most employees at PKI keep guest relating and safty in mind. I would think that a guest would rather have a employee take the time to make them feel safe with a good guest relations, than a hope-in and ride.
  3. Because there were no Technological advances between 1887 and 1971! lol, it was in response to Boddah.
  4. The construction of the Tower at PKI was probably the same as the one at Paris...
  5. The Beast does hold some themeing to rivertown like the old run down mine queue house. Tomb Raider I like to think holds that kind of feeling, the mine themed Cave. And the sheer amount of bamboo everywhere. Only exception in the presents of the huge box enclosing the ride that stands out.
  6. Well, atleast you ride it all the time according to a privious post you made in another topic, "It seems like everytime I go to the park that is all I ever ride anymore, The Beast and IJST. And occasionally FoF" hauntguy, I agree with you. The ride is great! The themeing is something Kings Island did not have and needed. Although I will admit I do not think it is worth anything over a 20 minute wait it is still a fun filled coaster! People seem to only think of what is now gone from the ride, c'mon people look at how much is still there! The launch is what always packs a punch for me. That car blasts off fast.
  7. Mine has to be Phantom Theater. Although it seemed to never really had a line I bet everyone rode it. The characters were classic.
  8. Since when has The Beast had anything to do with any Rivertown Themeing?
  9. Will this incident effect the operations/daily inspections of the other wooden coaster's in the park? At this time, is everyone who was on that ride in good condition now? Thank you so much Maureen for being a great guest relater.
  10. Make sure to check out the calendar on their site, or from PKIC. For example, recently it was Spirit Song and it was extremely crowded in the park. Make sure you pick a day where no special occasions are happening that day. The next major event will be Bring a friend free day, which always has a crowd. Try to not go on days like Friday and Saturday but instead Sundays and Mondays. Sunday mornings are what I believe is the best time to go. When it comes to rain, it works both ways. It may be packed or empty, most of the time empty. Since you’re going to the park next month, a date I know that will have the park crowded is the day of the concert on August 13th.
  11. Since I chose my top 5 outside of Kings Island I guess I will show my top 5 in the park... 5) Vortex 4) White Water Canyon 3) The Beast 2) Tomb Raider: The Ride 1) Son of Beast
  12. Gold! You might want to get that URL before it gets taken!
  13. You’re an extremely wise person Hank; it is good to have posters such as yourself on this forum. In a forum made up mostly of Coaster Enthusiasts, the first thing that will be the priority of talk is the ride(s). It's like you said, "people are the most valuable thing ever. You cannot replace a person," But in this case all people care about is replacing a ride. I prey for those who were involved in this situation.
  14. Well since this is Top 5, and you did not say it had to be at Kings Island... 5) "Nitro" at Six Flags Great Adventure Nothing says speed and airtime like this! Although I have been on it only once, it was a memory I will not ever soon forget. The 23 stories of steel sure do add some speed, especially with the great design of the trains. This coaster once you see it was made to give you as much free space for your upper body as possible. A simple lap bar gave me as much room to put my hands up and ride this piece of work. What really stood out when riding it was the amount of airtime the bunny hills gave. And again, those lap bars made you feel the airtime. Great ride, Great fun, but does not add up to my next favorite on the list, The... 4) "Son of Beast" at Kings Island No matter what people say, no matter what happens to this ride... It will always stay on my favorite list. Now I will admit that this ride is for those more extreme coaster enthusiasts, this is a wood that is the prime example to when a woody is pushed to its limit... and I like it! The layout is simple, the thrill is amazing. What makes this ride different is that the ride really begins when you leave the station, kind of like its saying "...And this is just a 50 foot drop, you aint seen nothing yet". The chain lift just adds to the excitement, it reminds you you’re on a wooden. The pre-drop is a wonderful tease to get the thrill going. And then there is the drop. The double helix packs a punch but I can handle it. The loop, well for havens sake, IT'S A LOOP!!! ON A WOODIE!!! But no loop on a wood coaster no matter how cool it may be adds up to the next supreme coaster... 3) "Superman: Ride of Steel" at Six Flags America I know, I know, I know... how many Superman coasters can there be?!? If I had to make a choice on one Superman coaster it would be this superhero coaster. It's a bland design hyper I will admit but then again, I was surprised that it is really only the lift that is the only part of the ride that soars up high. Most of the coaster stays low to the ground, only two partly high hills. When I reached the top of the lift you look down and see something that really looks freaky, a tight banked turn to the right then a hill. A Turn at the bottom of a 190 foot drop? The high speed helixes were a great G puller. And no ride on this is complete without riding in the front. But alas, if you thought a turn at the bottom of that drop was twisted, you have to meet my next runner up. The very twister rollercoaster named... 2) "Roar" at Six Flags America Located just across the park from "Ride of Steel", lies my Favorite wood ever. Roar, just the sound of it makes you feel like it's a pure wooden coaster classic. "Roar" is a coaster that many seem to not know much about, some have not even heard of it. It's a ride that does not get the recognition it should get. A pure classic roller coaster, it may not be the fastest, longest, in this case not hold any records but dang who said making a record breaking coaster made it good? Wood is everywhere on this ride and you do not escape that head chopping feeling. Did I mention the 200+ tunnel? So this is a coaster that has wood everywhere. Now what ride do you get when there is steel everywhere? You get... 1) "Millennium Force" at Cedar Point For goodness sakes IT'S FREKKEN MILLENIUM FORCE!!! That is all!
  15. My how PKI has changed since its opening. It is always cool to see our park in its old state and form. The only thing I wish there were more of are construction photos. I have seen a few construction pics of the tower and of Vortex but they are very rare to find. I also remember seeing a Top Gun (Thunder Road) construction photograph a few years back. The 50 foot platform when it was open I believe was able to be gone to by just the stairs (which are to either side of the elevators). They are used now for the lights for the tower.
  16. Today was Spirit Song, and also the day the Make A Wish Foundation was in the park. Tomb Raiders line was about 3 hours long and I think all the queue's at beast were full.
  17. I will be more than happy to explane the ride to you... but this is more fit for me to explane it througe IM'ing or maybe an E-mail.
  18. What are you talking about?!? The eyes are so fricken awsome and creepy. Anyone who rode TRTR the forst year will find the lack of it's themeing no-a-days sad, but if you get a first time rider and they get on it this year they will find it amazing. Themeing or no themeing, it is still a topspin... and those rides are FUN!
  19. The length of KingsIsland Central is just to time consuming when having to enter the URL. The Paramount sub name which I have no doubt will be dropped, adds to the whole reason we need a name change. Then again how do we know Cedar Fair will keep it Kings Island, they could change it next year. I would keep it PKICental.com for the remainder of the year and after more information is found out then make the final URN name choice. If you do change it to KICentral you know what that means... NEW LOGO!!! Maybe you could do a Logo contest. You could have the initials "KIC" and maybe say something like, "This website is KICking it all over town" But that’s just me. Good luck with the name change.
  20. Just like Beast's Power Hour, Tomb Raider is now periodically doing Tomb Raider Trivia; you may even get a prize!
  21. The fireworks display was nice but I do miss the way it was last year by having three different firework areas. The 18 minute show was quite nice with some interesting shells launched.
  22. That would be an honor to show to all your friends if you had that. Quite an antique there, I wonder how much it will end up selling for.
  23. Any B&M will do for me. But if I had to choose I would want a Dive or flying. Those coasters have a thrill that the otehr rides don't have. A flying would be a cool addition.
  24. Sorry Klock, but I am certain that the Pictures were taken after the Ice field scene. After the scene the platform goes in a counter clockwise circle. It is dark so you can’t see but the picture is taken as you pass the ice field again. The ride then goes into the lava pit scene.
  25. The Beast is as you know opened in 1979 and that was way before Paramount bought the park. The Manufacturer was Kings Island so the trains just had Kings Island on them. I would guess paramount when they bought the park kept the trains that way since it was still called Kings Island (only with the added Paramount), or it was to save money. If Cedar Fair continues to call it Kings Island I have no reason to think they will change the cars.
