Welcome! It's "education days," so there'll probably be slightly larger crowds than on typical weekdays. If pizza's not your thing, I recommend Fresh Cut Fries w/cheese and Chicken Tenders at Rivertown PotatoWorks. It's a left turn after Diamondback, and before The Beast. Is it your first trip ever, or for this season?

Most Embarrasing Thing That Happened To You At KI
Thrill_Biscuit replied to KIMonster14's topic in Kings Island
About 5 years ago: Walked up to a well-dressed, bald gentleman in a nice shirt and tie, who was walking with others who were dressed similarly, shook his hand and said, "The fountains look great, Mr. Helbig!" The man smiled and said "Well, thanks, but I'm not Mr. Helbig."- 88 replies

Adventure Express; now that SOB's dominating presence is no more, AE feels somehow bigger and faster than it was during the SOB years (at least it seems so to me, after riding it for the first time this season today.)
-
AE's "hastily-constructed" mine train appearance works just fine au naturel.

Because I remember, eidetically, the Van McCoy flash mob and retro-uniform crepe-paper rose sales of the 2008 Knievel Jump, I must ask: Will someone be serving Porkchops and Applesauce during next Sunday's "Brady Bunch" visit? There, I did it. [Runs for the door]

I must say the close-up picture of the fountain is one of the coolest KI pics I've ever seen! I also love your pic of Drop Tower, Sling Shot and XSF silhouetted against the twilight (mostly because of the illusion that the DT appears to be leaning). Beautiful pictures, faeriewench!

EDIT Had to remove the video from youtube due to Copyright issue. Will have back up as soon as I get it resolved. Thanks, Tb

Is that near Lebanon? LOL Yes, as a matter of fact; as is Oregonia, perhaps, if you fancy such a diversion.

I'd rather remain in sweet oblivion until more information surfaces.

Isn't the new coaster (cough, cough) at KI gonna be called Banshee? While deep in thought, I tried to fathom what a new KI coaster might be called. Maybe it'll come to me in my sub-conscience.

I'm reminded of a rigged Balloon-Dart game at the Montana State Fair one year. There were all these wonderful prizes visible in the trailer/booth. The drunken carney handed me the typical, blunt darts and explained the simple rules. I threw all three darts and was able to pop 3 underinflated balloons. The carney quickly reached under the "table" and pulled out a plastic spider ring. I said "your sign says I win a big prize." He pushed what looked like a doorbell button and walked back over to me and said "UP TO a large prize. You don't win that with just one game." I started complaining when this half-bald, greasy-haired 50-something, whol looked exactly like TV's "Cannon," came over on a huge motorcycle, chomping a cigar and staring like he was ready to bounce me (thus, I guess, the doorbell button). I tossed the cheap "prize" that I spent $2 on back to the carney and just walked away. Wiser.

This is precicely what causes addict gamblers to 1. become addicted and 2. lose everything. Remember: The odds favor the house ALWAYS. Most such games are engineered to make the player want to win the biggest, best prize by spending the most the fastest. The responsibility of restraint is the player's. If you don't win after a few tries, STOP! You have other things to spend money on later. If you happen to win and are offered "Double or Nothing," STOP! Take your prize and go. You've already won; why take a 50% risk against your own victory?!?! If you do happen to "win big" on your first few tries, STOP! You really got "lucky." Statistically, however, your next big win will cost you more than the value of your prize! Don't get caught up in trying to win back what you've lost... it's hard for some to break out of.

I dreamt up "Timber-Tantrum" for a wooden coaster while playing Roller Coaster Tycoon about 10 years ago, but the name got taken for other purposes. Oh, well. C'set la vie.

New ReEntry Policy for Season Pass Holders

Looks like somebody finally figured out how to filter the date field in the Passholder Attendance database. Hooray! -
Where's the best place in the park to watch the fireworks?
Thrill_Biscuit replied to Big Woody's topic in Kings Island
^ It's cool to see the shells coming up out of the woods from that viewpoint... -
I liked the Brady Bunch (and therefore prefer Carol) because that show featured a "complete" family who had a firm household (albeit a physically impossible house), complete with a friendly, live-in housekeeper. Though my own family was a mess of divorce, neglect and abuse, I could relate to the Bradys because that's what I believed life should be like. The partridges were travelling musicians who drove a weird bus and pretended to play instruments with such fakeness that it made me shudder... at four! So, yeah, Carol Brady, pretty much.

Delirium offers a very, very unique experience, but it can be difficult to time it. -
EDIT: Sorry; I said something inappropriate and meant no offense. As always, the talent at KI is world-class. Love it. -E

The question is "which park do you love more and why?" For me, it is Kings Island, because: There's 41 years of family tradition associated with this park; It's where the "Partridge" and "Brady" families put our hometown on the map, so to speak; It's where Evel and Robbie Knievel made their big jumps; It's in my hometown; It is a place of peace for me (except for when someone cuts in line ); but seriously, I can't think of any place I enjoy being than in the shaded plaza in Rivertown that sits between PotatoWorks and the Train Station on warm, balmy summer days... the center of the universe, you know?

LOL That's exactly what we're doing

Our National Anthem was written during a battle in which selfless men, in the face of intense, unceasing shelling, climbed over the mangled, bloody remains of their fallen brethren, just to keep the U.S. Flag fllying in defiance of the British Navy. For me to avoid living freely and enjoying the blessings of liberty by not attending a crowd-oriented event or facility would mock their hallowed sacrifice. I've had a good 44 years in this country. If it stops there at the hands of a foreign or domestic enemy, so be it; but for all they might think they can take away, there's manifold much they never can! God Bless America!

Brady Bunch to make an appearance at KI in 2013!
Thrill_Biscuit replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island
That's groovy! (Had to say it.) I hope it's a sunshine day (make it stop. Please!) Seriously, though, as both a huge fan of Kings Island and the Brady Bunch, that will turn out to be a sweet day, rain or shine.
