One was there yesterday picking up Grand Carnival floats.

Visited the park today for the first time since June. Overall, the park looked alright, tons of litter on the ground, melted dipping dots in various places, and still a ton of streamers in the trees in Coney Mall. Crowd wise, it wasn't busy. I was shocked that the regular lines were only about 15 minutes max as I went through. I watched Off The Rails for the first time...it was okay...I miss the days of All Wheel Sports at CP in the stadium. Was able to catch Phantom Theater Encore again and they definitely changed some things up with lines/jokes. It was enjoyable. I did get my first ride on Sol Spin and really enjoyed it, though I would have liked a bit more swinging like the traditional witches wheel rides. Adventure Express was 1 train, which was fine as I rode it earlier in the day. Had lunch at Juke Box Diner for the first time in probably 20+ years. I got the Double Stack and it was quite good! Poor crew at antique autos was short staffed that there was a line of cars at least 5 deep no matter how fast they moved to bring them into the station. I wish they could move the "stop" sign up closer to the station for ease of access to the ride operators. Was able to get a ride on Wild Water Canyon with a family friend and her 5 year old. I got soaked!!!! But I loved going to the geysers afterward and hitting the button without paying We wanted to ride Congo Falls together but sadly it was closed. I didn't really step foot into Planet Snoopy, but thought the signs for Camp Snoopy looked great. Diamondback is still half painted which still cracks me up. Orion was a great ride both times. Beast was good, minus the likely 12-14 year old boys screaming at the top of their lungs right behind me just for "fun." Overall, had a good day. I left about 4:15ish to head back home to have dinner with my family and I was pretty bored after riding all I wanted to ride. Missed out on the firework show, but I'm not too upset. I may get back to the park before Haunt....not sure if I'll go to Haunt or not. Anywho, today's visit was a solid 7/10.

Watched them load up the Grand Carnival floats behind Orion this afternoon....also saw two Winterfest parade floats come out of the trailer. -
On Orion this evening, "Millennium Force and Orion are the same height! They are both 300 feet tall!"

Camp Snoopy Arrives in 2024 at Kings Island
Orion-XL200 replied to RedSummit20's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Solid addition. What I'm unsure of the entire scope...is it just that small section being called Camp Snoopy or is the entire area being rethemed? -
Haha, I didn't even put the color of the track to thought....guess you are right, the same ish orange color. Must have been a good sale!

This looks to be a solid addition to Dorney...while Dive coasters aren't my favorite, I'd definitely make a trip out there to ride it. the tilted loop looks to be cool. Aside from having no floor, the rides will be completely different. The story which leads to the name makes it, imo, a great name/theme. A multi-million dollar addition is cheap? In a time where budget cuts are happening across the chain and at a park that is mostly attended for the water park, I wouldn't say it's cheap...more of a smart investment. I mean a general idea was readily available with approvals being made public and what not. For a park that hasn't had a new ride addition since 2005, making them wait a few more years for an extra $10 million isn't practical, what happens if the economy completely collapses, the park has to close down, the park has a similar fate to 2007 Geauga Lake, etc.? This addition can and will be a boost for attendance to hopefully add additional finances for things down the line. I thought the same thing when Cedar Point teased Rougarou....there were teasers that said "our first floorless coaster," when there wasn't one in the past I automatically assumed a dive coaster was coming later. Obviously the next year Valravn showed up. The difference between the two rides was starkly different, imo, that I felt they had a more solid line up with both additions. So excited for Dorney and cannot wait to see construction starting!

I would not be sad to see these go. While, I don't have kids, I just don't see any excitement of any kids going to ride them. I see more parents trying to drag their kids on it instead of the opposite way around.

When I worked at the park they tried Thursday night Haunts....most of the time it was rained out or low crowds that we were sent home early. Theoretically, it could work...financially not sure corporate would be willing to take the hit.

Kings Island to announce 2024 capital tomorrow
Orion-XL200 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I tried to see if I could find anything from the county/city as far as permits go, but was unable to find anything. -
Haunt is coming this year on Fridays, Saturdays & Select Sundays, Sept. 22 - Oct. 28, 2023 https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/haunt What do you hope to see returning this year? What do you hope is added? If you visited last year, what was your favorite experience? Just a rumor on my end but I've heard rumblings of this being the last year for Kill Mart and Slaughterhouse. Would you be upset if they didn't come back after this year? What would you like to see replace them eventually?
-
True....maybe not a high five but a thumbs up?
-
That's awesome! KI used to get almost nationwide coverage and it was great!
-
Edited, not how it was meant to come across. But for sure, sloppy at best with the lack of ending punctuation.
-
Seems sloppy to not end a sentence with punctuation. Did anyone ask about rainbows?

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

I miss hearing the lift hill so much! -
Not to mention what you and @disco2000 have shared are all valid things that were promised and are no longer available. You both are 100% spot on. The current climate of CF is not good in relation to consumers.

Grand Carnivale 2023 Discussion and Food Reviews

I don't feel like I missed anything by not being there for it this year. From what I gathered, it was less exciting and a "must do" event than it has been previously. Truthfully, if the decision is being made about next year (at this point) I hope they don't bring it back...save $ since it's apparent budgets are at the forefront. Don't half a** it if you can't do it fully...save $, time and effort and turn those things into something you can do full a**. -
It is working now at coasters. For example I ordered when I was on frontier trail. By the time I got to coasters I had received the text that it was ready.
-
They fill from the back at least the ones I've used. You get a code to enter and it unlocks the door locker.
-
Mobile ordering is fairly cool. I would love to see it more available.

The definitely have the capability to run sales on merch. Winterfest at one point had 50% off certain merch. What they spend to purchase is just a small fraction of the cost of what we pay. I cannot always justify paying $30ish for a shirt but if it's closer to $20 or lower I likely will. I love the pins but I cannot justify $10 for a pin no bigger than a quarter. I think about all the non park related merch, why purchase that (at a higher cost such as Salt Life, Billabong, etc) and not sell nearly as much? Sales from carts would be great! Buy a pretzel get a 2nd 1/2 off, ice cream bogo. I have yet to get fun perks this season from any of my park visits in the chain. There is the occasional email of "perks" for signing up for a loyalty program of another business. There really cannot be a good reason to continue having someone in that position if they aren't able to actually give perks in park. Food pricing, while I have the meal plan, is insane and detracts from buying. At Cedar Point last weekend I got breakfast at Grand Pavilion and used my meal plan. I had planned on leaving the park before dinner so no big deal. Well my boss gave me the next day off so I decided to stay the remainder of the day. So I had one meal plan to use from 12-10. I ate a late lunch and decided that due to meal pricing I'd just eat outside of the park after my day was over. The overhead cost of the dining program cannot be that much per meal, which I can see bringing in a bigger profit margin per meal, but I'd bet they'd sell more if the cost per meal were lower. I don't know the solution but I know as a consumer I definitely would like to pay less so I can buy more.
