Kings Island will have one less roller coaster in 2026
Diamondback_Is_King replied to DonHelbig's topic in Kings Island
Yeah never thought of this as a roller coaster. There's no chain lift, not really a launch, and it's not a complete circle. That's like saying that these kind of rides are roller coasters: -
Epic is quite the park I will say that. By no means is it the best park I've been too. The theming on the rides there are really great, there's just not enough of them yet. In maybe like 5-10 years it will make it's way up the rankings. Don't get me wrong, the park is amazing! It just needs more. Hollywood Studios doesn't have a ton of rides either (9 main rides), but they have enough other stuff to keep you busy. They have the Indiana Jones show, the Cars show (is that still there?), Beauty and The Beast show, Frozen show, interactive stuff in Galaxy's Edge (lightsabers, droids, meet and greets, etc.), and just a lot more things to do in general. Besides the 11 main rides, they have the HTTYD show and the HP Cricus show thing. But these break down way to often to be consistent. When I visited, we tried 4 different times to watch the HTTYD show because it kept breaking down. And we got seated in the HP Circus show just to witness a fight and then the show broke down too. We did get free Express though, but kinda a waste of an hour TBH. They just need more things to do in the park. When we were there, there was like hardly any meet and greets (actually there wasn't any now that I think about it). Besides the rides, the only other thing to do was walk in the land, check the app for wait times, eat, and bake in the hot Florida sun. Eventually, Epic will get there. They just aren't there yet. Anyway, kind of went on a side rant there. Back to what I really was going to talk about. Stardust Racres has one of the smoothest loading processes I've ever seen. When riders get back from the ride, they sit in a break run in two different block zones. Then they make it back to the station platform and get off quickly. But the train sits there empty and the operators make sure that ever restraint is lifted up and ready for the guest. Then, the empty train moves up one more block zone and the guests enter the empty train. Super efficient and fast process. The ONLY thing I can think of that would make it more faster is if they installed some kind of moving walkway so that the trains are always moving. A always moving conveyor that moves the train constantly (think RMC raptor style) could increase capacity, but I can't imagine it would by that much. Here's a video I found that shows the loading process perfectly:

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
Diamondback_Is_King replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
Wow I really really like this! I agree with @beastfan11 that a restaurant on the water would be very cool! The park needs more water and less of a "concrete feel" that CP brings. This would open up that area by Jukebox and Stunt Coaster, and would provide for more seating in that area. I disagree that they should put a MACK coaster in there, because I feel like just an open water area could be cool. KI could even do a water show out there if budget allows. Although they kind of already have a water show with the Royal Fountain. The only problem I see with this is that The Vortex Plot kind of sits in a hole and the land is sunk and uneven compared to the surrounding area. So they would need to do some land work to make this work. -

Ok so I've been following the news with all this Gold Pass/Prestige Pass stuff but I'm still a little confused. My family bought the Gold Pass during the MVP sale thus getting access to all parks. From my understanding, it will act the same as my old gold pass for just this year, and then it changes next year. But I heard something that the Gold Pass no longer got you early entry for this year and it was only Prestige and resort guests that got that benefit? Does the MVP Gold Pass work for early entry at KI and/or CP? Or not at all? Maybe I missed something. I will say this is all very confusing and I wish they made it clearer. -
My prediction is 120 minutes average almost the entire first 2 weeks. Then come week 3 I think it will go down to 90 minutes until after May. Then I can see it eventually lowering to 45-60 minutes, but I don't see it getting any lower than 30-45 minutes all year. One more month of waiting and we'll find out!!!

What KI Rides Have You Never Been On?
Diamondback_Is_King replied to King Ding Dong's topic in Kings Island
Ah man you gotta get on Drop Tower! I used to be deathly afraid of Drop Towers. I would ride any coaster no question, but I would not want to do the Drop Towers. Well I went and rode Falcon's Flight at BGT and that scared the heck out of me so now I'm not afraid of them anymore lol. But seriously...you're missing out on Drop Tower. The first ride of the season on Drop Tower is always the best!!! -
Mostly KI and CP. But lots of Universal too. My merch is mostly nanocoasters, wooden coaster cutouts, and lots of posters! I also collect maps from every park I visit (over 50+ maps but include some duplicate parks with special map, like WDW 50th). I have a grand opening passholder preview day button for Iron Gwazi on the first day it was available to ride, a UOAP mummy button, and some other random pieces that remind me of the parks. My family also collects Christmas ornaments at every park we visit and we have a whole "Theme Park Tree". I also have plenty of hats as well. I can never visit a theme park and not get any merch! 😁

Kings Island General Discussion 2026

Those little triangle-shaped shade thingy or whatever they are called that you find in Diamondback's or Banshee's queue do almost nothing for you. They don't even help with the rain. They're kinda useless to be honest. I wish we could have more structures like this in the park. Something like the Mystic Timbers covered areas that don't get used to often would be great. And while you're at it, add a little snake animatronic in a tool shed for Diamondback or a haunted shed with flickering lights in the Banshee line. It would give the guests something to "look forward to" while waiting in line and provide some more shade and theming. -
So real. IMO it's just a giant waste of space. The building is pretty big too and I can only name a few people who actually like that ride. On my last visit this past summer, I chose to ride Mummy a 7th time in the single rider line over riding Supercharged just once. Thank goodness their getting rid of that awful ride. Kong is so much better. Anyway, hopefully they can use that gigantic building for something good. But I'm not gonna do what everyone else is doing right now and guessing what it's gonna be. Sometimes I get tired of watching the same "Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are coming!" videos. I get it. I like creating ride concepts, but some of those people act like they know what's gonna happen. I remember just a few months ago a guy on YouTube claimed that Ghostbusters was confirmed because of some green goo-themed scare zone nearby (IYKYK). I get so tired of him sometimes. Anyway, end of rant lol. Happy with the new addition overall. I was never the biggest fan of Rockit. Oh and I'm hearing people saying this thing is gonna have a 170ft tall spike??? That would be insane

I don't understand the "Hollywood Drift" name and I don't like that it's themed to Fast and Furious, but it's whatever. When I ride is good, you don't question the name or the theme. I don't care that it's the longest roller coaster name all-time because I like the ride. I don't care that it's called Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure because the ride is good. As long as the ride is good, people don't really care. And besides, Rockit was called "Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit" so it fits in that way I guess. Not sure how it fits in with Orlando or New York, but as long as it's good people won't care. And from hearing about some of the possible stats, it sounds pretty cool! Let's not get too down on this coaster before we even see the layout. This ride will be a good replacement, I'm excited!

Kings Island General Discussion 2026

The first time I ever watched The Mummy was at Cabana Bay's pool! But Six Flags is not Universal or Disney. But all you really need is a projector and a projector screen, so it is a possibility. I've been to some small indoor water parks and even they have movies playing in the wave pool. Should KI do it? Yes. Could KI do it? Yes. Will they do it? Probably not. If they can't have all of the lights that are on the Christmas train at KI lit, how are they going to put a movie on in the wave pool? Cool idea though, I think this would be really cool! -
Make the entire queue line indoors. I know it's not realistic, but who cares it's just a concept. Make the queue indoors, then make the show building a legit preshow. Let some people in, close the doors, then play the video. Although there isn't enough line after the pre-show for it to work, so I guess it wouldn't work, but still cool! After the preshow you head up the stairs (still indoors) and reach the station (also indoors). Then when the ride starts you are getting ready to launch to space (the lift hill). And instead of the blue LED lights on the lift hill, add occasional white streaks to act like comets or shooting stars. As for the ride layout, it's not great. But if the theming was increased, the ride would be better. Flight of Fear has more theming then Orion. I don't even know the storyline of that ride, but it's more memorable because of the creepy alien theme. Orion is memorable because of the crazy drop and the speed, but imagine how more memorable it would be if it had an indoor queue and some actually good theming with a working preshow. I know it would be way too expensive and never happen in real life, but that's why I play Planet Coaster!

100% agree on this. I would actually like a little different color scheme, similar to what they did when they repainted Diamondback last. The colors remained the same, but the shade was slightly different. I feel like Banshee's blue columns have gotten more purple over the years, and I would definitely like to see more of that dark blue. But to follow the topic, I think that whatever they do to FoF, they should make it less janky and shaky. I'm ok with a little shake, but not to the point where I'm getting hurt and not feeling good when I get off the ride. Not sure whether that means fixing the track or trains, but something should be done to this ride.

Six Flags Qiddiya
Diamondback_Is_King replied to Vortex1987's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I absolutely love Taylor's reaction to this crazy ride...it really shows how insane and forceful this ride is. I also really like the people's reaction in the row behind them But I feel a lot of the other rides at this park don't get as much attention because of Falcon's Flight. Like the tilt coaster called Iron Rattler looks so fun and smooth! All the rides in this park look so fun, but I unfortunately don't see myself going here ever. Still cool to see nonetheless! -
Kings Island Website Has A Fresh New Look
Diamondback_Is_King replied to DonHelbig's topic in Kings Island
Yeah I don't know what is up with my browser. It's been doing this since the new refresh came out. It does look a lot nicer though when you can actually see the words! I'm on Chrombook right now -
Kings Island Website Has A Fresh New Look
Diamondback_Is_King replied to DonHelbig's topic in Kings Island
Ok this is getting annoying to have to squint to see the drop-down menu options. This isn't just something on my end right? It's like impossible to see the drop-down options because there is no background to it. And you can't even see the promotion at the bottom left either. Not really a fan of how the website looks thus far... -
Looks like Wild Waves is closing for good next year... https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/wild-waves-shut-down-2026 Sad to see any amusement park close (although this was a water park too), but in the Northwest, you don't have very many options. I used to live in Oregon and this park has a little sentimental feeling to me, because Wild Thing was my very first upside down roller coaster. It wasn't THE coaster that got me into roller coasters, but it had a huge impact on me. I remember after the water park closed, my family went over to the super small amusement park side and I decided I would try Timberhawk, their S&S woodie. I was scared, but had a fun time. So I was feeling pretty confident in myself after that ride, and decided I might try and conquer the Wild Thing (simple Arrow looper). I had never done an upside down roller coaster before, and was super sacred of the idea of going upside down, as I'm sure many of you guys experienced when you were younger. But I got the courage to get in line, and in the ride vehicle. I was super scared on the lift, but it was over before I knew it. I wasn't really sure how I liked it at first. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked roller coasters anymore. When we got back into the station, the ride operator then asked everyone if they wanted to go again, and if they didn't they could raise their hand and get their restraint released. I of course raised my hand but my dad put it back down and said "let's go again". So, as we left the station I held the restraint tight and braced myself for the upcoming loops. By the time I got off the ride, I had completely changed my mind and absolutely loved it! Thus began my love for roller coasters. Anyway, just thought I'd share an experience I remember quite vividly about this park.

I personally would love to see this implemented at the Six Flags parks, but I don't think it would be useful for all of them. They could do just the larger parks instead, but even then it may not work. But the microchip refillable bottles are really easy to use! The Coke machines actually tell you how many minutes you have left until the time expires, which is a huge help. The idea is great, but the execution is what determines how well it does in the park. I think Dollywood can do this well, but not sure about Six Flags.
