Today marked the first day of daily operation at Paramount's Kings Island. As soon as my friend and I were off work I grabbed my cameras and elvis presley sunglasses and we headed for what we hoped would be desrted park. The news was good, the park was empty. We got in at about 4 and headed for Delirium. We waited only one cycle then had a good ride. It was my friends 2nd time riding it since 2003 and he loved it. Delirium seems to be back to its strength that it once was at and I t was an extremely enjoyable ride. One of the best types of flat rides out there. We then went for the newly re-furbished Son of Beast. I've heard good things and bad things about the rehab of the son. We sat 2nd seat from the back, off of a wheel. The ride was good, you could look at the track and see the work that was done and whiel you could feel the train shuffle it definently wasnt as bad as last year. The first dropp was great, fast, and smooth. Then what usually was the worst for me was the extremely banked turn into the first double helix. It was wonderfully smooth and as you hit the bottom of the double helix you got stapled a bit but it definently wasnt too bad. The rest of the helix was grfeat untill you hit the bottom again. The rest of the ride was wonderful. As coastersRZ told me, The Beast is rougher now. Son of Beast is back and although I need to still ride it a few more times I think it may be one of my favorites however I guess i need to sit on a wheel and see how that feels too. Overall I give it an 8 out 10. IT did seem a bit slow though and sluggish but not too bad, not too bad at all. After that we walked right on to Drop Zone and from the top you could see GWL construction with water park slide pieces lying about. Drop Zone was good as always, the only ride that still makes me feel somehwat nervous. After that was a 3 minute wait for Face/Off. Then straight to FOF with a confrontation with some line jumpers who left the line after trying to pick a fight. Some kids on their 8th grade trip who thought dropping hte F bomb would get us to let them cut. Ha, losers. FOF had the house lights on in the que and in the bowl, you could see the King Cobra trains. FOF is such a fantastic coaster. We then spent 6 dollars on game tokens while I played skeeball my friend played some other game and won about 300 tickets on one try. He got a bunch of sunglasses and other crap. We then took a ride on Italian Job. Front seat, perfect view. Fun launch and we could see al the theming. We came to the chopper scene. Almost everything was working. The cop car lights, all the fire effects, all the water, the helicopter moved and shot and yes, even the artifical fog was working. The tunnel was pitch black, except for the exit signs of course and the splash down was powerful with a bt of airtime. Overall a good coaster although short, it was fun as fof. We ended the day with heeading up to the eifele tower where I did some filming for an upcoming project and did some photography. We left, had dinner at Chipotle, then came home. All in all a fantastic day at Kings Island, no lines, great times. Now that I think about it PKI has some fantastic coasters and I enjoy all of them. SOB is pretty good now and I think its now a decent competitor for one of the top coasters, maybe not the best, but a very good one at that. Heres some pictures from today. Due to how bright it was and my lack of a trippod there somwhat less focused but theyre pretty cool" This photo I took last saturday while at the park with Boddah and zoso but I thought it was worth sharing.

^Amen Ryan, a freaking men!

^Peanuts was never a NICK show, it was not onwed by Viacom as the Interpreter said, it just ran on Nick for a sh ort time and they stopped airing regular episodes and specials long before Charles Schultz, God rest his soul, passed away.

^Wooferbear, your a great guy and I love ya but I gotta disagree with you on this one I cant stand Coke from a can. It just has such a rough taste that it makes me want to puke, I can only take it over ice from a foutnain when I'm extremely deperate. Pepsi doesnt bother me much. No one beats RC!

^Superman isconsidered a coaster by RCDB, it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and uses magnets, just like other shuttle coasters such as Mr. Freeze. Superman at SFMM is in fact a rollercoaster.

^I believe you need to be a guest at the hotel.

First off Adam12, your rant means absolutely nothing to me. If you wanna talk about how I bought my car, work my money with student loans and what not then pm me about it but thats not the the topic and not what I'm calling into question. You obviously have no knowledge of how the amusenet business is run, did you/do you ever work for a park? And in what position no matter wat it was you can see that paramoutn idd a darn good jb iwht 5 of the most sucessful parks in the industry and they catered to families which was the biggest money maker and they looked down the road for that i.e. italian job and nu which can be enjoyed for years to come. Your argumetns about the park make no sense and you seem to miss the point of decisions. Huge coaster anfter huge coaster isnt brining the crowds in like it used to and everyone can see that as much as they hate to admit it. By the way, no I do no visit check into cash or checksmart

Really ronnie??? How many of those parks have you been to to experiance all that trash on the ground? Hmmm..... zero thats what i thought and just for your info Six Flags New England is a really clean and very well lanscaped park! So please dont diss Six Flags bc this year is a whole new year! Trust me! So please dont talk poop unless you can back it up! First off Brandon, you need to settle down and stop taking the internet so seriously. You dont know me nor did you know me, you cant even spell my name right, so how you can you tell me what parks I've been to? Exactly. I wascause I know you now work at SFNE and astro world and fiesta texas I have been to MANY times and they were awful every time I went there. You get a little to defensive on the itnernet buddy, hope the season's going well at SFNE I'll be going there this summer when I go to stay with friends. You know I have nothing but love and respect for you Brandon.
-
I was just kidding, I know the new englands snapper, and yes I know SF has improved. SFKK looks beautiful.
-
Yeah dirty and trashy like alot of six flags parks, its a shame to see your park looking like fiesta texas, astro world, or six flags new england with all the garabge on the ground.

Decent state? PKI already is at a decent state. If it wasn't, then why did more people visit PKI than CP? Go jump in a lake, you have no idea what you are talking about. Ha! and neither do you. I will give you this... I'm thankful that Paramount kept Kings Island afloat and didn't run it completely into the ground just to make a few bucks. I guess you could say that I have more sprit than I do business sense. I believe you can have both, I would rather take less profit and make Kings Island the best it can be. You all can say what you want, but Kings Island is a very original idea and is nothing like any other amusement park. How many other parks do you know of that had their own employees create a roller coaster? Not just any roller coaster, but The Beast! I don't know for sure, but I bet Cedar Fair puts Kings Island back on the map as an amusement park (like CP) as it was meant to be. I remember going to KI when I was a kid and my dad telling me the difference between Kings Island and Disney World. He told me that I wouldn't like Disney as much as KI because they don't have large rides; they are a theme park. There are 2 reasons why Paramount made a sorry attempt to change Kings Island into a theme park; they wanted to promote all their shows/movies and it is cheaper. -adam12 Um... wasn't PKI the most visited seasonal park in USA last season? I think they were allready on the map... Exactly, Paramount was cheap? THey invested more money into the park and put in high class attractions each year. Im sure if you were in charge of a business you wouldnt run it for money but because you like fun, note the sarcasm there. Your probably 14 and have no idea how a business particuarly an amusement park is run besides your limited roller coaster tycoon knowledge. Put PKI back on the map? PKI beat CP in attendance. If PKI was as bad as you make it out to be then Cedar Fair would have bought it but due to the fact thats its a world class, magnificant, and well run park, it was worth the money spend to aquire it and its sister parks.

And your sources are whom?

^Considering your younger and smaller than probably a lot of people on here. When I was your age SOB was my favorite ride and now (last year atleast) I can barely tolerate it.

You! You are still dangerous, but eventhough your a snot nosed junky fly boy I guess we can give you some hints on visiting the park. Since its a sunday it will be decently crowded. If coasters is your biggest thing definently hit up The Beast, Son of Beast, FOF, IJ:ST, and Vortex since theyre pretty unique. Theres a lot of negativity latley on this site about the park but we still have a great park and I'm sure youll have a great time. Theres plenty of hotels nom ore thant 10 minutes down the highway in either direction so it wont be hard to find a place to say. As far as food, I reccomend eating outside the park to save money, theres two sky lines (one exit north, one exit south) and on the fields ertel exite theres a hooters, mcdonalds, wendys, burker king, applebees, ocharleys, CHIPOTLE, frisch's, but these are sometimes crowded after the park closes with kids after work. Have a fun and safe trip!

Thats sad to hear, I heard lots of good things and lots of bad things. Most people said its still no good. I atleast have to ride it once. It's a shame.
-
Speaking of old footers, on Coasters Rz site he has a picture of what is an old footer for what once was the skyride. This is by far oe of the most interesting pictrures I've seen about PKI, you cant see much but I never knew that was there. PKI has some very itneresting historical evidence lying all about and thats always got my attention. Great pic RZ! and great site as always! On this page, third picture down.

Where is the bear does someon have a picture of it?
-
Its a weekend which means slightly larger crowds, and a holiday weekend at that, so yes it will be very crowded most likely. And as nemo said, sunday mornings it usually isnt too bad but a notice of increased guests takes place throughout the afternoon.

What kind of music? I've noticed throughout some ques its the same music thats on Qtv and I've heard what seems to be a seperate soundtrack thoroughout the park although not what I'd consider good music.

At 1 in the morning my band played in the school gym for afterprom, i was stuck there till 4 in the morning, drove around for awhile in a bad mood got home at 6, slept till noon, ate a leftover arbys sandwhich, and called a bunch of people about SOB then sat around tired and angry untill i went to chipotle. Yes wooferbear and Boddah are right, Chipotle is one example of heaven on earth. I have now been awake for about 24 hours now.

Cedar Fair is at least Interested in PKI

And I'm sure you've never done anything like that Brad.
