I haven't gotten a PM in months so I can't comment on that, but the last like notification email I got was around 6:30pm on Tuesday.

This was just posted to the park's Facebook page about 45 minutes ago... https://www.facebook.com/kentuckykingdom/photos/a.599973010036875.1073741827.150584424975738/1077907052243466/?type=3

Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
How exactly can money from the insurance claim be used to pay back debts when the policy was taken out by the group leasing the club? This whole thing is still one big mess. I'm sure nobody wants to see the park close, but I don't see how they have any other option at this point. Considering how much they lost this year, I don't see how they'll be able to get enough money to pay back existing debts while still paying current taxes as well. -
Camden Park, 1995

Any word on if/when bumper cars will return? I know the building was destroyed by a fire but I have yet to visit an amusement park (other than Stricker's Grove anyway) that doesn't have them. -
Right. That's why I said the article was good for a laugh or two. I know CP is probably the biggest attraction in Sandusky, but still. And papers wonder why people don't want to subscribe anymore. The Cincinnati paper even resorted to having a deal on Groupon recently (discounted digital subscription with optional physical Sunday paper).

Xlerator Hand Dryers Splatter Bacteria
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Dyson's site lists the latest version of their Airblade dryer at $1349 each. That could be a big factor in why they're disappearing. There is no price listed on the Xelerator site though - you have to contact them for a quote if you're interested. -
I'm not familiar enough with the Sandusky paper to know exactly what's to be expected from various writers... This is one part I found funny... SCORE is apparently a charitable group that "provides business mentoring services to entrepreneurs" according to Wikipedia. I'm not sure his "brilliance" would be appreciated by them or the businesses they serve. Also note that the book is available on Amazon for those who want it: http://amzn.com/0974332461

So do you think The Beast will get the new PTCI360 trains?
Oldiesmann replied to Oldschool75's topic in Kings Island
There's also the staff training aspect of things - maintenance and anyone working on that ride would need to become familiar with the new trains. Given that the park and the GP both seem to like Beast in its current state, I doubt we'll see any changes to the trains anytime soon. -
Whither Conneaut Lake Park Now?

If they had bothered to come up with a good reorganization plan in the first place, they wouldn't be looking at a possible property sale... This whole thing is a mess. -
NJFTP--Holiday in the park.

I can't imagine wanting to ride coasters in New Jersey in December. Riding Banshee in 40 degree weather on media day was bad enough. Sent from my LG G3 using Tapatalk -

So that's what happened to Laser Web. Interesting... (For those wondering, what's now "The Web" started out as simply "Laser Web" in the Woodford Plaza shopping center in Fairfield. I went to quite a few laser tag overnights there with my church youth group in high school 15-20 years ago. Last time I was out that way, Laser Web was gone and Ohio Valley Antique Mall had moved into that space). $18 unlimited tag on Thursdays... Sounds like we need to have a KIC laser tag meetup out there. -

Oldiesmann replied to Oldschool75's topic in Kings Island
I doubt The Beast will be getting new trains anytime soon. The park seems quite happy with the current trains, and the ride is still quite popular. -
He's been busy doing the same this year. A picture of the chassis of a Beast car was posted on Facebook, along with a video of someone steam-cleaning said chassis.

Looks like the shop mentioned in my previous post in this topic has since moved to downtown... http://www.theplayerpianoshop.com Street View of the address on Madison Road shows what appears to be a vacant storefront with a sign saying "The Player Piano Shop" above the door.

BART KINZEL "RESIGNED"
Oldiesmann replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Considering he's only tweeted 12 times since February of last year, I wouldn't take that to mean much of anything. He retweeted that particular tweet because he's in that picture (front right in the blue shirt - I know this only because he's got a picture of himself on his LinkedIn profile as well). -
Accident on Alton Towers Smiler
Oldiesmann replied to Bennett's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Reading up on the accident on Wikipedia (haven't heard anything in a while and was seeing if I'd missed anything), I came across this article... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/alton-towers-victim-furious-as-ceo-tells-her-they-are-reopening-the-smiler-because-they-are-losing-a-a6669286.html That is not the way to handle that question. Also, I highly doubt reopening the ride will help their financial and attendance issues... The reason behind the closure is what's keeping people away.
