What Was Your Impression of KI for Opening Day 08?
It's funny how everyone outside of Erie always calls it "Erie Prep". I am a proud 1992 graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School. We unfortunately have a 1-5 record vs. Moeller, but it is tough to go against a school the size of Moeller when Prep has a school of less than 600. Prep has actually dropped to AAA in PA due to going up against much bigger schools in Pittsburgh in the playoffs. Little known things: Prep has graduated both Bob Sanders (Colts-safety) and Mark Stepnoski (Cowboys, Titans- center). Sanders obviously being the more well known due to being NFL defensive player of the year in 2007.

^ I love playing darts. The team I play with usually places in the top 3 every league. Lots of beer. Fun times. Lots of beer.

worst trip to the park I ever had...
Wow, that is an intresting start to this thread. First, when it comes down to the restraints, as mentioned earlier, the park is required to go by manufacturor's standards. There is no way around this. And standards change for incidents just like this: http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachus...aster_accident/ The trains in the park have not changed from last year to this year. So being upset about the size of the trains is not a CF or Paramount issue. Opening day is normally a packed cluster-fudge. Not only is it busy, but many times rides don't operate efficiently due to the long winter break and training of new employees. So far it sounds like all the rides were operating rather well. It is quite funny that someone actually complained about the amount of high schoolers in the park. Only one comment can be made for that- Are you kidding me? Yes the food prices are high. No surprise there. Food prices are high at many high volume venues. You could have brought a cooler and had sandwiches at the car, or you could have left the park, ate somewhere else that has better service, and come back. Going to eat at KI is not like going to a high-class restaurant that does not have prices on the menu, you are quite aware of what you are going to pay. The list of issues goes on and on. And all of them have been discussed to death here all winter long. But did you seriously believe that complaining about the park being overrun with young adults all day today, and then calling people a bunch of assholes was going to get you anywhere especially about things that we were all aware of?

April 19
I suppose you could look at the train operating a couple different ways: - KI considered Saturday to be the dry run day so everything ran. -or- - KI is making sure all rides operate as much as possible. This puts to rest the fear that they will not run both sides of Racer more often than not. Hopefully things will stay like this the rest of the year. Time will tell.

Disney Fires worker for grieving
No further explaination necessary. Thank-you for your insight on such a sensitive topic.

Disney Fires worker for grieving
I am sorry to hear that you had to go through this so early in your life together. Since you have been through it, and please feel free to not answer if you don't want to, what do you believe is an acceptable amount of time for a grieving period?

Disney Fires worker for grieving
I know that I am going to sound cold-hearted, and I am truly sorry for her loss, but, 60 days should be more than enough time to grieve for your spouse. I work in a union facility, and they would only give 5 days per the contract for the death of a spouse, child, parent etc. By Disney giving her another 30 after her vacation time was up really is going above and beyond from a company's standpoint. And Disney had to take the cold-hearted business stand and let her go so that her position could be filled by another worker. Given that Disney is union, the company just cannot fill the position with any worker, their are many hoops to jump through to keep things level per the contract. Normally after a loss like this, a person needs to immerse themselves into their work. I'm sure her husband would not want her to grieve constantly to the point of losing her job. I certainly would not want my wife to do that. And now, after Disney has made the decision for her termination, then she contacts the media? It really sounds like she is just very angry and now found someone to take it out on.

Great pics, and fantastic update. That is probably the best pic of them all, it certainly does "tell" the most. So much for my "Maverick" style theory.

Return of the King
^ In all reality though, his statement will actually increase interest in KIC. Some people love controversy.

Return of the King
I wonder if her feelings would change if she knew that Flight Deck a.k.a. Top Gun was not planned by Paramount and was supposed to be called Thunder Road.

KI's first Intamin coaster
So you never went to KI in 2000 to ride SoB? Cause I was at KI 8 times in 2000 and never was able to ride SoB until 2001. While Intamin does have a reputation of rides not being on time, as well as many breakdowns, they are also on the cutting edge of many things as well. I compare what Intamin does to the debut of a new model car. Sure it's nice and pretty, but it certainly is a pain in the butt to keep bringing the car back for recall work. And many new coasters do have multiple issues when they are new. Start-up problems are not just exclusive to Intamin. I can remember numerous downtime issues with Magnum, Raptor, FoF, SoB and Griffon in their first years as well. And from the glass is half-full idea- those issues do become limited as time goes on. Maverick's extensive downtime was due to a design flaw that was discovered during testing. Sure it was delayed 2 weeks after opening, but it ran rather consistant for a first year coaster after that (and the good thing about that is the park released a statemtent defining what was happening and how long it was going to take to fix the problem). TTD's issues were numerous and extensive it's first few years, but the ride had rebounded nicely (same goes for KK) to have over 1,000,000 riders for 2007. MF & WT issues were limited to rather specific issues: MF- the elevator lift cable broke a few times, and the park has since replaced the cable on a more frequent basis to limit downtime. On WT- once the spike supports were added, the track cracking issue was solved. So sure, Intamin has had their problems, but they also stand by their work to fix them. More than can be said for other companies' coasters that are torn down after rather short life spans. So I'll take the frustrations that Intamin coasters have early on because they do provide a fantastic end product, over having no Intamins at all.

SFKK: Girl Injured in Accident
^ Given the recently released evidence against them, I don't think they will be able to afford the current incident let alone another. Time will tell.

new names
Wow. That kind of reaction just over the name of a ride? So what did you do when a person told you that the Dolphins suck? Chew off their ear and eat their first born?

Red Racer's New Logo
Perhaps I am having a grouchy day... But I am irritated over the constant negative hype that has been here lately, and the park is not even open yet. How can anyone really form a valid opinion, but has not seen it in person? And this is not just about The Racer logo. For a long time, many of us complained about what Paramount was doing, or not doing. Now when CF comes in, and they are changing things the complaints increase? It is just mind boggling to think that changes won't be made with a new owner.
-
Red Racer's New Logo
^ The only one playing with words here is you. If you wanted your statements to be a personal level, I suggest next time to use the PM feature. That way, your "genralizations" will not be misunderstood.
-
Red Racer's New Logo
Oh, I see. You were referring only to one person, yet used "some of us who don't blindly support everything the park does." So those who don't agree with you, and agree with Bodda, are not in the "blindly support" catagory that is only for him? Yeah, that is clear as mud.
-
Red Racer's New Logo
How are you coming up with "blind support"? Not disagreeing with everything that the park does should in no way be considered anytype of "blind support". That is treading real close to the "fanboy" mentality. We have only seen what the logo looks like through a picture. But those who don't disagree with everything the park does is being put into a "blind support" catagory? Let's see the logo in person before we really judge how it is.
