  2. So is Maverick. and the finger.... .... and a pile of rubber dog ****... Nope. Maverick is an INTAMIN roller coaster at Cedar Point. Mavrick is a Top Gun reference. People OFTEN don't spell the latter correctly. Umm. Yup. Please note the spelling of Maverick on his helmet. http://www.moviemarket.co.uk/Photos/T10349...7bf2bfc407f51f3 ... and on the jet... http://www.starpulse.com/Movies/Top_Gun/ga...p-Gun-movie-10/ ... and at the end of the movie. http://www.moviescreenshots.blogspot.com/2...p-gun-1986.html
  3. I was tagged a CF "fanboy" at TPR when I disagreed with a member that was rather critical of how CP does not clean up all the seagull *droppings* on a daily basis in the parking lot. Apparently to the majority there, this is the cause for the widespread disease that has plagued CP for many years now.
  4. That really was a great TR. I could almost *hear* the enthusiasim in your voice. Will you be posting the pics?
  5. I would hope not. The parks are over 350 miles away from each other. Now the way gas prices are and since the park is new, HRP quite possibly be in for a bit of trouble themselves.
  6. That food cost is more than you think. Being in the food business (in a past life ), the cost of not only food, but all the supplies that go along with serving food is about 35% of the total cost for a particular item. Then add in the utility costs (which have been going up with the cost of oil) and overhead, there really is not that much left over to make a profit.
  7. The current trend of food service providers (i.e. Sysco, Curtze, Maple Valley) is that they have been increasing the cost of their food/ supplies with the increasing gas prices. That only means there is an excellent chance that food prices will not only increase not only at KI, but at most food service venues.
  8. ^ Frosty ice water just doesn't have the same *kick* I was looking for.
  9. It really doesn't matter what soft drinks will be sold at KI. The real question is: What frosty beverages will we have to choose from in 2008?
  10. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/ I suppose this is the reason why gas jumped over $.10 today to $3.41/ gallon.
  11. This is not that big of a deal anymore. The wait for Beast is usually not that long to justify a special walkback.
  12. Who ever said it was fine to be the same as everyone else? Certainly not me. I just do not believe that CF should be thrown into a catagory by themselves when there are many others out there just as guilty. Let's not give out any false impressions.
  13. Well, for me, insurance companies fall into the catagory right above lawyers. ...and the lawyer catagory is pretty low.
  14. While I think that this is a fantastic idea, I wonder how this will effect "loose items" for rides.
  15. I can understand your frustration with customer service at KI. But again, KI is certainly not the minority when it comes down to shoddy service. "You get what you pay for", at least when it comes down to having some employees work at minimum wage. Sure not all employees are like this, it's just that those who despise their job show it more to the customer. And it is those few that patrons seem to remember more than anything else. But in the employee's defense, I'm sure they are bit@#$% at all day for prices and for the length of wait which then turns their attitude sour. Which is exactly why I have complained for many seasons that KI does not have a sit-down restaurant. When I go to CP, my family will eat in our hotel room/ car (subs, sandwichs etc.) for lunches or snacks.. But when we want to eat dinner, we will go to Bay Harbour Inn or TGI Fridays. The employees there realize that part of their job is to make the guest feel "special" which in turn leads to a good tip. I honestly cannot remember anytime that I have been disappointed with either place.
  16. After reading all 3 articles, I was surprised to find out that they were not written by a certain bear lover from Atlanta.
  17. ^ Price gouging? You may want to clarify that CF is not the only business that can be put into that catagory. Upon my recent trips: - $25 for my family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids) to see Horton Hears a Who before 6:00pm. Another $24.50 for 3 large drinks, large popcorn and nacho. - $120 for my same family to enjoy Splash Lagoon (indoor waterpark) in Erie, PA. $5.00 for a locker. $10 for two water guns. $20 for 2 orders of chicken fingers, with drink. CF is certainly not the minority when it comes to high prices.
  18. September 24th, 2003. I was a member of PKIU and then joined here. Intrestingly enough (and not to put anyone down) things here are much more civil than most enthusiast sites. Mention that you like CF, CP, KI, or even Beast at some sites and you would be amazed at how your opinion is treated. Not only do you have a completely terrible opinion, you should never leave your house to go to a park again because you have no idea what you are talking about. Kudos to the group here that things never get that bad.
  19. ^ The question is, will Crypt be operating opening day? If it is operating, then it will also be my first ride primarily due to wondering what the ride will be like with all the themeing working. Cause we all know what happens to highly themed rides. But if it is not operating, my first ride will certainly be Beast.
  20. Think of it this way: Prior to Top Gun being released, there was such a thing as Fightertown, USA (aka Mirimar). But prior to Forrest Gump, Bubba-Gump restaurants did not exist.
  21. Hershey is truely one of the best parks out there. And it's not just the rides that make a special park, the atmosphere is outstanding. It is one of only a couple parks (Kennywood & BGE) that made me feel like I did at KI back in the early to mid 80's. The midway near SDL and GB has that "old style" park feel to it, along with the smells. It there anything better than the combined smells of candy apples, cotton candy, and popcorn? The atmosphere actually made me stop on the midway and just look around with a smile on my face. It's just that Hershey is off the beaten path, so people will bypass it. If anyone has the opportunity of going, do it. You will not walk away disapponted.
