There is value for treated lumber; now how much value.... I don't know It can be recycled at any pulp/ paper plant (you would not believe the insane strength of the chemicals used in paper making). I doubt they will make money, or even break even taering it down. But the cost is much less than some have anticipated.

Accident on Texas carnival ride
Browntggrr replied to rcs's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Another article: http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/3-year-old-girl-injured-at-carnival-ride-at-rodeo-3407064.php This, IMO, is a recipe for disaster: No offense to ride ops because they have numerous things going on at once, but what are the qualifications to be considered an adult? This policy is, at best, vague, and leaves decisions that should be up to a responsible parent in someone else's hands. -
Perhaps it is just me, but I cannot imagine Mexican & amusement rides mixing well.

And both experiences were somewhat satisfing yet uncomfortable!
-
As long as the prices are comparable to professional sporting events, I will not complain.

SoB had used so many strikes, the game has gone into extra innings.

The device used to find the store wher the GPS was purchased.

Suggesting to have SoB on the KI website while SBNO with zero hope of actually operating this season is similar to waving your hand in front of someone's face while screaming "I'M NOT TOUCHING YOU!" Also, if a guest confuses Beast with SoB, then shame on them. I question how they actually found their way to the park since they obviously cannot read a map.
-
Disappointed? Absolutely. Upset (as I put it)? Why? The information is readily accessible. I believe we are both on the same page. My comments are more directed to these opinions/ stories: And the icing on the cake:

Tomato...tomato Footer....footing "I never made a mistake, but once I thought I did, but I was wrong." Exactly. That visitor that has no clue what SoB is thus cannot be upset about (or looked forward to) SoB SBNO as has been previously suggested. The park is taking the lesser of two evils by ignoring the white elephant in the room. The same practice was followed by BGW about 12 years ago. Anyone that came to KI only to only "enjoy" SoB is missing out on a great park.

It's called Google, and it took less than 15 seconds. http://www.google.co...iw=1536&bih=718 So driving extensive hours does not constitute research on your destination? How do you know the park will even be open, or what kind of weather to prepare for? You may not, but I, and most people, certainly do. Gaining as much information, and finding the best deals, makes for a happy vacationing family, even if the vacation is for two days. Does SBNO mean it exists? If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around, does it make noise? But I do have to ask, those you know that do not plan for a 1, maybe 2 day event could not have seen it on the website, so it's a non-issue. Right? Google is your friend. http://www.google.co...36&bih=718&bs=1 Aside from Google, if a road is not on a map, do you still want to drive on it? Or are you going to ask the SoB status question at Customer Service since you saw it on your way in? Again, you could. As I, and most people, certainly know what Beast is. You would be surprised how people's eyes only see what they want to see. Just ask some park employees how often they have to remind a guest not to break a park rule- a rule that has countless signs posted around the park. People need to stop digging/ pushing to find something to be negative about. It's time to enjoy KI's 40th season!

C'mon people! You don't travel 10 hours from home and do zero research? Like people can access information from their phone.... I blame Kinzel.

The Beach Closing after 27 Years
Browntggrr replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am trying to add up the "want" for a failed ownership group to take over for a successful park. -

I was thinking the same thing. I certainly hope this does not open the door for seperate admission for SC. -
Heh, Marge Schott.... Is it just me, or does anyone hear her name, and just think of her picture with a smoke and a St. Bernard?

I gotta ask: who voted & what were the qualifications to be selected to vote?

40th Anniversary...how about a History of KI area?
Browntggrr replied to RD Reynolds's topic in Kings Island
I love the idea, but I don't know if the cost would justify appeasing the "fan boys". Appeasing "fan boys" rarely happens. Too often things (and/ or decisions) like this are harshly criticized by those who have personal feelings tied to the park. -
^ So where would the 3rd train be if one is operating, and the 2nd is starting unload/ load process?

The US has become such a sue happy & ultra sensitive society (with practically everything- Billy Crystal's Sammy Davis Jr. spoof at the Oscars come to mind), no park or marketing firm would even think it. http://www.eurweb.com/2012/03/sammy-davis-kid-dad-wouldnt-mind-billy-crystals-blackface/
