Great TR. Loved how those line jumpers got busted. Like I have been arguing on the other threads, all KI needs is a bunch of big, burly police officers like at CP and they will have the line jumping problem solved. I see you guys didn't do Gemini. In my opinion a classic but, again, just my opinion.

Actually, since Cedar Fair took over, I feel that at least the issue of line jumping is being addressed. There may still be a long way to go but I think there have been a lot of improvements such as more police officers/security where they are needed. As to line jumpers being out of the park in the paramount days, are you serious? Security during those days was an absolute joke. As bad as the issue of line jumping may be now, it was ten times worse under the previous owners.

Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!

Whether you can defend yourself or not, no guest should have to risk a physical confrontation. And confronting a line jumper on your own increases the risk of a physical confrontation. Despite the metal detectors, what if the other person pulls a knife on you? Or what if you get arrested for fighting? That is why police officers should be at all the busy rides to prevent this from happening. The fact that we even need to have metal detectors at an amusement park indeed shows a sad state of our world. -

So, Kings Island should hire 4-5 people to patrol a queue? That is what I've gotten from your posts. In order for Kings Island to completely take care of this problem (which most likely will never happen), they'll have to hire 4-5 people to walk the queues of every single ride. Agreed, if you're going to pay to get into the park, shouldn't you stay in the park for more than an hour or two? I agree KI Man. Tell the people line jumping no...stand up dude. Anytime you run to Guest Relations as soon as you get jumped in line, the thing is that the people jumping you are 1) either already on the ride by the time you get there 2) already have been on the ride and now in line for another ride. Stay in line tell the ride ops with another person in the line that the people in front of you jumped in line. 1 word--agreed Security whether it be at the amusement park, schools or at the airport is not the joke that you all seem to be making it. It is a serious issue. It is so serious that kids are bringing guns to school and shooting each other. So, in answer to your question should KI put 3-4 security officers in each queue, my response is, if it helps ABSOLUTELY!!!! Safety of guests should be a number one priority. CP has big, burly police officers everywhere and this seems to work in cutting down on line jumping as well as keeping guests safe. KI seems to be following suit of its home park and I think security has improved in the park. And to say we should stay away from places where we can expect to find unruly teenagers, give me a break. I love going to KI and as a law abiding park goer who abides by the rules, I have every right to be there. As to the unruly kids, I say throw the bums out. Let me stress that I love kids and feel that most of them are good and well-mannered. The ones that are not need to be taught by their parents right from wrong. Perhaps Windishawne is right, maybe a good paddling wouldn't hurt. -
Thanks to you and the rest of the hard-working crew. Keep up the great work.

Never been there. Sounds yummy and fattening. But exactly my point. Why can't KI strive for excellance in food as well?
-
Just look forward and walk on.

I would like KI to take the eating establisments that they already have and improve the quality of the food. First, what is it with those horrible steamed hamburgers at Festhaus? Go back to chargrilling the burgers-they are so much better that way. Secondly, the Larosa's Pizza most of the time is horrible-it is usually stale, the slices are small and there are hardly any ingredients ie pepperoni on the pizza. Thirdly, the buffet by DB is a joke. The food in my college dorm was better. I would like to see a buffet of the same high quality as Midway Market at CP. However, I don't want to be completely negative. Outer Hanks has great food at a reasonable price as does Skyline. Also, cannot beat the soft serve ice cream.

Me too. Hope CP brings this back as well.

Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!

Oh my! I'm not very PC. Yes a lot of parents are afraid to discipline their kids in public these days, and the kids know this. My generation got paddled, and what not in public or wherever else, and most of us turned out ok. I think we have some sense of respect for others. Telling guest relations is one thing, and good, however, theres only so much you can do after the fact-the guilty party is long gone. I agree with Sparky in how he handled it. Personally, I would prefer the ride ops to keep an eye on the ride-distraction could cause a tragedy like Kentucky Kingdom. I still think security should be more of a presence than they are. I dont go on the weekends anymore because its out of control-there are more families at the park during the week. The fact that some on here dont find this a big deal tells me that those folks themselves dont know line jumping is wrong. Right on Windshawne. Like you, I am fed up with this whole "kids will be kids" mentality as an excuse for bad behavior. -
It has LaRosa's but not the full service sit down restuarant.

I myself do not hate kids. I love kids but I expect their parents to train them to behave in public, which includes showing respect for others. -

What issue is larger than the comfort and safety of your paying customers? -
I enjoy Shane at DB when he does "Woo, Woo" in a real high voice.

I would like to think that people are basically good and I do believe that is the case if they have the proper guidence and discipline from their parents. Parents need to teach their children right from wrong, which includes treating other people with respect. If I had gotten kicked out of KI when I was a teenager, believe you me I would have had to face my parents and it would not have been pretty. -
1. Goliath ( Six Flags Magic Mountain) 2. Riddler's Revenge ( Six Flags Magic Mountain ) 3. Alpengeist ( Bush Gardens) 4. Any of the dive coasters

It never ceases to amaze me how many young children sit on the handrails right in front of their parents and the parents say nothing to them. I am especially concerned about the portable queues they are using at DB ( the same ones they use at CP. ) I saw a young girl one day climbing on one and tried to explain to her that the queue could easily fall down since it was not connected to the ground and she could get serously hurt. The girl just looked at me funny.

Just got back from KI. When a tornado warning was announced we were directed to HVAC shelter. The warning was lifted about 9:30a and we were allowed to take shortcut to parking lot to get to our cars. How coincidental this thread was started yesterday.

Used to love the hourly rendition of the chicken dance.

Nice trip report Ronny. I don't think I would like the longer cycles on the spinning rides, though. Very impressed by their log flume.

I am truly sorry about your negative experience at KI. In my 37 years of going to KI, I can say that yes, I have had some sour apple experiences with employees. But I have found that for every sour apple, there are about 20 times more people who go out of their way to make KI a wonderful experience. People like Alyssa at the train ( hopefully her back will be ok so she can go back to her beloved Beast. ), Al in the Emporium, Tyler who used to work The Beast and Adventure Express but got deservedly promoted to ride operations( Not sure exactly what his position title is.), the other Tyler at DB and the rest of of the wonderful DB crew, Brian who is the head of of Ride Operations, of course Ronny at Crypt-these are just the tip of the iceburg of the wonderful people who have kept me coming back to KI over so many years. -
I can answer for Mark in this case. Yes, that IS the only thing he does. I see him there all the time power-lapping it. Sometimes I'm surprised when he's willing to stop to talk to me for a minute or two. Personally, I prefer to do other things as well, and I'm really enjoying taking a little of Terpy's advice and spending some time just wandering around the park, hanging out, relaxing, and just enjoying spending time there. I went to the water park today just before the rain and just walked around people watching, and then relaxed for about 15 minutes or so by the wave pool. That was very refreshing. I might also add that I have enjoyed meeting many of you while at Kings Island, and making new friends is quite the pleasure. My casual riding has led me to 36 Diamondback rides so far, and while that isn't all that many, I'm okay with that. Flyer, who has 90 on Beast. Thank you, couldn't have said it better myself. Maybe we can hook up at the waterpark as that is my next fav thing to do at KI next to DB. Like to relax in the wave pool, the lazy river, and Tazmanian Typhoon ( ie the giant toilet bowl.)

I broke 200 today. Am now at 204.

Why, oh why, KI, did you get rid of the Bavarian Beetle?

You're kidding? I never knew they recorded that. Sorry, not the one I am thinking of.
