I'd also like to think the way the supports are put in place is more to do with the structural integrity rather than head chopper effects. In any case, head choppers are vastly more effective with wooden supports than the more typical modern steel supports, IMO, unless you have a really compact course like Flight of Fear.

I really want to make some music puns with all these treble clef references, but I feel they'd go over most members' heads... Though, a treble clef element would really put the 'G' in G-forces. Waiting for someone to potentially get it now.... silver2005, being cryptic.

To be clear- my view on the 4 across vs the V-trains are from experience, not off of any known stats. I rode Nitro last summer and it felt like it took its course, which has similarly sized elements to Diamondback, faster than Diamondback.

The way I think I see it, it appears the 3rd hill may be taller than the 2nd. It also appears that 2nd hill is about the size of Millennium Force's first overbank, which means Orion could be a-flyin' through that turn. I think that element will have a good combination of weightlessness with some decent laterals as well. Remember- this thing will be going into that element at over 90 mph and the 4 across trains hold their momentum better than the V-trains of DB.

Vortex Is Leaving After This Fall Season
silver2005 replied to THE_BEASTmaster's topic in Kings Island
Aside from the station being old, another issue I thought of is what kind of queue expansion would be needed since most of the last coaster additions have extensive queue switchbacks. There isn't a lot of that around Vortex's station. I think the station will be torn down, too. If its a B&M coming in, then there's no chance of them reusing Vortex's station. -
You must have missed the Polar Bear Club meeting memo.
-
Paramount set aside certain rows on some of the coasters to allow double rides when they first introduced Gold Passes.
-
GCI is one of those companies where I expect they'll do their homework and proper research that'll get their hybrid off the ground properly. They have little to no snafus in their history and they build quality rides. I think they're up there with B&M in terms of quality.

Do any of the CF owned Boomerangs still use Arrow trains?

I don't know about you guys, but the theme is obvious with the train colors- Bearcats in Spaaaaaaace.

The Beach Waterpark is for sale!
silver2005 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^I attended and covered that media day when I was a staff member at Coaster-Net, and in hindsight, its pretty telling they let us at the media day considering we were one of the smaller park news outlets at the time. I also am aware that the owners have other attractions across the country. How are those holding up in comparison, @BoddaH1994? -

^No way both go. Having one fills in a niche for people who can't afford to go to KI. -

Channeling your inner Terpy I see. I think this is it for The Beach, too. Not only with the neighbor to the south, but even more so with Coney Island announcing they're going all in on their water park. -
For those wondering, there is a LaRosa's restaurant close by on the corner of Columbia Rd and US 22, about 10 minutes from the park. There's another one near where Western Row meets US 42 which is about 12 minutes from the park.
-
I think KI should partner with LaRosa's to revamp all the locations in the park, both to approach the quality outside the park and possibly expand the menu.
-
Tip- if you want to make LaRosa's sauce sing- add a bit of kick. A bit of a spicy flavor really goes with LaRosa's pizza sauce very well. Also helps if the sauce is pretty fresh out of the oven. Especially when I order hoagies and calzones, I either add jalapenos on them or on the side. silver2005, who wishes KI would take a page from the Reds and offer calzones in the park.

I agree it vibrated a lot, but I think that's just due to needing a paint touch up. I wouldn't qualify that as being rough though. Parts aren't a concern because S&S still churns them out. Several suspended coasters are defunct from age, but all those were either pretty aggressive compared to Bat and I have to think with BBW that with Schwarzkopf starting it and Arrow finishing it that something with the design unique to it led to it going early along with some aggressive swinging as well. Ninja is one to watch in that regard. I would say Bat's got between 5-10 years, and that might be generous.
-
Bat goes up the lift slower due to the blocking. The train on the brakes comes off that block section slower as the bottom used to hit the centering rail too fast and led to people banging their heads on the restraints, and its less hard on the chain motors to slow than to stop then start.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
silver2005 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
I was unaware of problems with Twisted Timbers and RailBlazer? What were they? -
You really want a windchill produced by going 90+ mph in winter? Myself? I'm already annoyed by 53 mph windchill on Timbers. You can have your hypothermia, thank you very much.
-
After riding Nitro, the 4 across trains are my preference over the DB style on B&M hypers. They really zip through the course.

Next time we get an upgrade, I would ask that it be made available that members can block entire threads.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex

^But you used Rougarou as an example and equivocating that with the actual track removal of Mean Streak and Disaster Transport for Steel Vengeance and GateKeeper respectively when no track was removed to make way for Mantis transforming into Rougarou. Using it in that example and the discussion on whether people count it as 1 or 2 credits are 2 different discussions. -

^Physically, Rougarou is Mantis. They didn't get rid of a coaster for that.
