  1. They did have wandering street performers in early 2009, I believe. And they were largely ignored by most people. CedarPointer, who has fond memories of watching someone walk through Nickelodeon Universe with those weird stilt things, a cowboy in Rivertown, and a magician near Front Gate.
  2. Some paint and flowers could do wonders for that area (turn the area with the water tower into more of a "traffic circle" layout with a large planter in place of the current circle logo thing, keep the water tower, and plant flowers in that same circle logo shape. It would look awesome from Drop Tower...) That's the only thing over there I can think of, so it must be...
  3. I think part of it is that, if they gave season passholders free entry, it would "clog up" the trail for those with day tickets who paid to enter it and would have higher expectations than those who got in free as much as they wanted. I know that's a bad way of putting it, but it gets the point across...
  4. It's nearly a mile long and seems to have a lot of twists and turns. They can't possibly be intending to staff it enough to have a person watching it as much as would probably be necessary. Wasn't supervision the downfall of the Rivertown nature trail?
  5. I wish they would update Timberwolf to reflect the look of Action Zone. Some brightly-painted sheet metal nailed to the old wood would do wonders for the look of that area. Walking back there feels like a weird time warp. I love these pictures- it's hard to believe something so awesome is now pretty much empty.
  6. I've been thinking... I wonder if the groups will be guided by a "tour guide" or something? That would make the upcharge make more sense and explain how they expect to supervise such a huge trail.
  7. I think it's physically still there but not turned on anymore.
  8. Do you know if new employees get paid minimum wage, or is the pay above that?
  9. Last year I was told that an employee needs to witness it or there need to be a whole lot of witnesses for them to do anything about it. Makes sense, they probably want to avoid a lawsuit from someone who says they were being picked on because of their race or something. But I don't know... anyone know more?
  10. The way parents act in front of their kids is unbelievable. Even how they will almost make their child cry because of small things. I once had some parents who, while they bought themselves drinks and fries with their food, wouldn't pay the extra money (I can't remember the amount, but I think it was less than $.50) for their young daughter to get cheese on her hot dog. It totally broke my heart, it was easy to tell that she really wanted it.
  11. I don't know if that was pointed at me, but... Just pointing that out... (and if it wasn't, my apologies)
  12. As I said, I was generalizing quite a bit there. I would consider most people on this site to be at least somewhat enthusiasts, but I think there's definitely multiple categories of enthusiasts- I have met some who were absolutely awesome and I had great chats with (it totally makes my day when people don't just bark out an order at me), and I've met some who nearly throw money at me. And I think families tend to be hyper-critical about different things than enthusiasts, at least from what I've seen and overheard.
  13. Trust me, families can be that way, too. I once heard some poor employee being berated by a woman who apparently had gone into the employee break area to ask where something was, and it sounded like she was told in no uncertain terms that she was NOT allowed back there. I feel bad for what some people have to put up with.
  14. Enthusiasts: refuse to eat in the park, rarely buy merchandise, use their season pass far more than families. Families: tend to buy food in park so they don't have to spend time driving to an outside restaurant and back, buy souvenirs and t-shirts for the kiddies, either have day tickets or use their season passes occasionally. In other words, enthusiasts= not very profitable, families= profitable. Gee, I wonder which one I would market toward. (and yes, I am aware that I am generalizing. I'm sure that some enthusiasts are quite profitable, but from what I've observed, the majority might not be)
  15. I wonder how many Parents of the Year will try to send their small children through by themselves to save money,
  16. I believe they still use that building for various things. I've heard it's where all of the park's "Super Pretzels" are made. I don't think it'd be too big a challenge to relocate that and turn the stand into a gift-shop, however. Of course, they could just build a new gift shop closer to the actual trail. I just don't see them relocating something if they don't need to, especially when it's something heavily used by a department.
  17. Skyline has fries with shredded cheese, but they don't melt it for you.
  18. I believe they still use that building for various things.
  19. I wonder where that gift shop is going, and if you'll need to go into the attraction to visit it...
  20. Since that wouldn't account for the season passholders, I couldn't see them doing that. It's not that much, either. I'd be mad if it were $10, but looking at it now, $5 isn't really that bad.
  21. I never really minded the Dyson hand driers, except when lovely people decide that they can be used as a flip-flop drier. Of course, the Xcelerators aren't head driers, so I guess they're even. For me the Dysons tend to dry faster, too, I think.
