  1. Not to say I don't have my doubts about the plan for re-opening KK but I don't know that its fair to compare Coney Island's water attractions with what is standing at KK's water park right now (assuming the whole existing water park opens next May). Those are really two different animals. KK's water park offers a lot more options and a much higher thrill level than anything Coney has.
  2. Just a reminder that there are only a couple days left to get your ballots in by the 28th!
  3. I would assume that they are LEDs right? That should give them a decent enough lifespan.
  4. ACE has posted to their facebook page that the entire first drop will be enclosed, which sounds pretty awesome!
  5. A factor which strongly contributes to those being two of my favorite parks.
  6. Due to my intense fear of roller coasters as a child I probably have more memories from the Antique Cars than any other ride. I would love to see them return in some form, though I still think its a long shot.
  7. There is always the possibility that the bigger thrills will stay a few hours north. KI is really more of a family park as it is currently constituted anyway. With an award winning kids area and a number of family friendly rides and coasters. There are seven roller coasters that one could argue are family friendly along with pretty much every flat minus Drop Tower, Delirium, and WindSeeker. Is it crazy to think that they may continue to embrace this aspect of the park and add something that isn't a shiny new B&M/Intamin monster? Isn't something more along the lines of Shoot the Rapids or a family friendly dark ride just as likely? I think Ouimet is very aware that in park spending is where parks are going to have to look to increase revenues, as attendance across the board has been relatively flat the last few years. Who spends the most in the park during their visits? Families.
  8. I haven't seen that one before, very cool.
  9. ^That is a good question. Seems a close enough fit to me. Figured I might as well share my ballot as well. --Generator: Jordan's Ballot Helper 2012 (steel)-- --Ballot: 84b6b4f2529-- LOCATION IN NEXT LINE (Please LEAVE THIS LINE IN BALLOT) ~"Indianapolis, IN" NAME IN NEXT LINE (Please LEAVE THIS LINE IN THE BALLOT) ~"Vince Scott" RANK THE FOLLOWING RIDING SENSATIONS <-LEAVE Sensation of Speed_________________________,y,y,1 Abrupt Airtime_____________________________,y,y,2 Out of Control Feeling/Directional Changes______,y,y,3 Floating Airtime___________________________,y,y,4 Lateral Forces_____________________________,y,y,5 Positive G's/Loops_________________________,y,y,6 COASTER NAME PARK LOC <-LEAVE Maverick Cedar Point OH,y,y,1 Diamondback Kings Island OH,y,y,2 Favorite Wood Coaster Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,3 (The Voyage) Millennium Force Cedar Point OH,y,y,4 Wild Eagle Dollywood TN,y,y,5 Top Thrill Dragster Cedar Point OH,y,y,6 Rock n Roller Coaster Disney's H Studios FL,y,n,7 Incredible Hulk Islands of Adventu FL,y,n,8 Raptor Cedar Point OH,y,y,9 Hungarian Horntail Islands of Adventu FL,y,n,10 Expedition Everest Disney Animal King FL,y,n,11 Flight of Fear Kings Island OH,y,y,12 Magnum XL-200 Cedar Point OH,y,y,13 Chinese Fireball Islands of Adventu FL,y,n,14 Firehawk Kings Island OH,y,y,15 Gemini Cedar Point OH,y,y,16 Vortex Kings Island OH,y,y,17 Revenge of the Mummy Universal Studios FL,y,n,18 Flight Deck Kings Island OH,y,y,19 Tennessee Tornado Dollywood TN,y,y,20 Backlot Stunt Coaster Kings Island OH,y,y,21 Fav Vek Susp Loop SLC Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,22 (Thunderhawk @ Michigan's Adventure) Mantis Cedar Point OH,y,y,23 Fav Wild Mouse Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,24 (Mad Mouse @ Michigan's Adventure) Hollywood Rip Ride Ro Universal Studios FL,y,n,25 Fav Jet Star Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,26 (Tig'rr @ Indiana Beach) Space Mountain WDW Magic Kingdom FL,y,n,27 Fav Loop-Screw Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,28 (Corkscrew @ Cedar Point) Fav El Loco Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,29 (Steel Hawg @ Indiana Beach) Fav Powered `Coaster' Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,30 (Blazing Fury @ Dollywood) Fav Arrow Mine Train Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,31 (Adventure Express) Big Thunder Mountain WDW Magic Kingdom FL,y,n,32 Fav Arrow Corkscrew Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,33 (Corkscrew @ Michigan's Adventure) Fav Wildcat Any Park Anywhere **,y,n,34 (Wildcat @ Cedar Point [RIP]) Fav Intamin Bobsled Any Park Anywhere **,y,n,35 (Disaster Transport @ Cedar Point [Ditto]) Fav Vekoma Invertigo Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,36 (Invertigo) Iron Dragon Cedar Point OH,y,y,37 Fav Vek Susp Family Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,38 (Flying Ace Aerial Chase) Fav Galaxi Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,39 (Galaxi @ Indiana Beach) Fav Tivoli Any Park Anywhere **,y,n,40 (Kombo @ Indianapolis Zoo)
  10. The ballot for the steel poll is now up and is accepting entries until Feb. 28th. Link to Mitch's site: http://www.ushsho.com/bestrollercoasterpoll.htm Link to the drag n' drop ballot creator for the steel poll: http://hawker.stationbrakes.com/ The more ballots the more interesting the results!
  11. I would be surprised if the same cars were to return. Perhaps an electric version but I doubt we would see gas powered cars return to KI.
  12. I believe it has been pointed out here before just how snugly Backlot fits into AZ, right near where Thunder Alley used to stand.
  13. Zach's Zoomer at Michigan's adventure is the best 'kiddie coaster' I've been on.
  14. We have gone down to Holiday World the first week in June the past couple of years and it has proven to be a great time to be there. The Children's Museum is an amazing place. The only downside is that, especially for an indoor attraction, it can be a lot of walking for the little ones. The different exhibits are very engaging and the train area is great. I'm sure your 4 year old will be in heaven. As a heads up the food at the food court is very expensive but they do allow you to bring your own food if you wish. As for Holiday World, as stated above, hit the water park right when it opens and have a plan for your first few rides. You can usually get a couple of rides in on some combination of Wildebeest, Mammoth, Zinga, Bukali, and Zoombabwe before the lines for those get too crazy. The lines in the dry side really let up in the middle of the day on weekdays with station waits not uncommon for the three coasters. Gobbler Getaway and Liberty Launch are the two flats that I would recommend. Hope you have a great time!
  15. And we have the results! Top Ten: 1. El Toro - Six Flags Great Adventure 2. T Express - Everland 3. Voyage - Holiday World 4. Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce 5. Phoenix - Knoebel's 6. Balder - Liseburg 7. Ravine Flyer II - Waldameer 8. Dauling Dragons (Left Track) - Happy Valley 9. Dauling Dragons (Right Track) - Happy Valley 10. Colossus - Heide Park KI's Wooden Coasters: 47. The Beast 100. Racer 153. Woodstock Express Complete results can be found here: http://www.ushsho.com/woodrollercoasterpollresults2012.htm It also looks as if the steel poll will return this year as well!
  16. Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day to get your ballots in!
  17. Glad you are doing this again! Can't wait to see this year's batch of photos!
  18. Nice to see the dry side of the park get a little attention. Can't wait to try these out this summer!
