HoliWood Nights & CoasterMania 2016
malem replied to malem's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Just a heads up that one week from tomorrow (Sat, May 21) is the online registration deadline for HoliWood Nights. On-site registration adds $15/person. -
I have a stride named after me?

Sometimes, I wish there was a season-long Accesso pass. Processing fees from renewing a season pass, buying tickets for events like CoasterStock/CoasterMania/Banshee Brew Fest, buying a bring-a-friend ticket, and adding pass upgrades like FunPix can really add up.

Blackout is a Halloween Haunt maze, which is specially open for tomorrow's gold pass ERT event. Photography isn't allowed inside any Haunt maze, but here's an exclusive picture of what it looks like inside. (Guests are instructed to hold onto a rope & keep one hand on the wall)

^ Kennywood prominently posts a number to report line jumpers. It apparently works; I didn't see anyone trying to line jump.

The club seems to be growing.

HoliWood Nights & CoasterMania 2016

I have yet to decide between the two events. I bought a CoaserMania ticket before they sold out and have a hotel reservation in Indiana. Yes, I sometimes get called indecisive. If I don't end up using my CM ticket, hopefully I can find another GOCC member to take it at half price, as I haven't assigned it to a name. If I end up in Sandusky, and someone would want to use my Ferdinand hotel reservation (made last summer before rates went up), I could refrain from cancelling it. -
If you bought a non-passholder ticket, it's not valid for admission to the park until 6pm Friday. If you bought a passholder ticket, you need to use your season pass for admission. In this case, you can (of course) enter the park during the day.

Less than 2 hours before the deadline! I'd advise procrastinators to not wait until 11:50pm, lest a connection or payment issue prevent successfully purchasing ticket(s) & registering for the event.

Mothers' Day is typically a lower attendance day, hence the bring-a-friend deal.

Put enough people in front of a gate, and planned opening times can be thrown to the wind. Giving out skip-the-line passes to everyone inconvenienced by another group of guests getting in early wouldn't be a good precedent. CP has no way to know which guests were lined up at the marina gate hours in advance. Some lining up at the marina gate may have been doing so in an attempt to jump the crowd at the main gate.
-
Just a reminder: tomorrow is the registration deadline.
-
I love watching a crowded midway be cleared by an incoming storm, as long as it doesn't stick around all day.

Not all actions update the "last active" time in IPB3, even if it results in a page load, so it's possible that he (or she) posted this thread as the final action ever taken while logged in. There have been various time zone bugs & fixes over the years, so that's possible as well. Perhaps the poster was advised that this fan forum wasn't the right place to go for employment-related matters.

Phone experiences in a queue for a ride where bags & loose articles must be secured in a locker or with a non-rider seem like an inherently bad idea.

With its second-best coaster sitting there undemolished.

The park's bigger fans are typically the ones lining up at the marina gate; it sounds like this wasn't handled well at all. Granted, a new coaster opening at Cedar Point is going to be crazy on many levels. Did that Valravn line last as long as the park was open to the public tonight (4 hours)? How was your ride?

There's likely still time to join a coaster club before the event. Many here are members of GOCC and/or Coaster Crew. I'd suggest joining very soon to make sure that you get your membership card before the event. You might first want to confirm with your club of choice (via e-mail or social media post) that they can send your membership card in time, as attendees will be required to present their valid club card at check-in. -
^ Newer season passes have an 8-digit short number in addition to the longer barcode number. The longer code also works for verification in the online store, so enter that if you have an older pass.

As of last season, the forced wait time between meals was shorter than the advertised time of 4 hours. This helps with delays caused by food lines; if you get in line for your first meal at 4:50pm and can't pay until 6:01pm, you'd otherwise be out your second meal. That said, there were also times last season where meals were denied after waiting more than 4 hours. I recall one day with lots of uneaten pizza in the trash at Rivertown LaRosa's. To be safe, I always check the time to ensure that a full 4 hours elapses between when I "pay" and when I go for a second meal.
