If you select "mobile" delivery when checking out from the mobile ticket store, you will receive a barcode on your phone to be scanned by the cashier. You might want to test this (without actually completing check-out) in advance. If scanning the barcode doesn't work, the cashier would enter the numeric code.

If the Cedar Point cup isn't accepted, you could buy a Kings Island cup at the online price using a mobile device. https://cf-ki.secure.accesso.com/packageList/keyword/Meals Keep in mind that souvenir cups aren't permitted in line at Banshee and Firehawk. They must be left in a locker (~$1/hr, $2 minimum charge) or with a non-rider.

^ Here's a picture of event preparations that the park posted earlier today. It looks like it's on the former Snoopy Starlight Spectacular path (Backwoods Bayou during Haunt) They do have a $20 non-alcohol ticket, in case you'd want to get in without paying for the alcohol. ^ According to http://cedarpoint.com/resorts, a 3-day ticket for resort guests costs $87.

Keep in mind that the Banshee Brew festival is this Friday-Saturday. Not sure how that will affect crowds in the main part of the park.

Yes. Photography is prohibited on all rides except KI&MVRR and the Eiffel Tower. This includes Soak City. He apparently wasn't caught again, or his in-park video would have abruptly ended.

^ It's possible that he received a misdemeanor citation for violating Ohio's Rider Responsibility law. Assuming that park police decided to give him a warning rather than cite him and/or ban him from the property, the outcome would certainly be different if he got caught pulling out a camera again.

The "More Info" link on the first slider item on visitkingsisland.com (Weekday Saver general admission slide) is broken. Clicking it redirects back to the home page.

I finally rode the front seat at CoasterMania on Friday, and I have to eat my words a bit. In the front, Rougarou is an improvement over Mantis in just about every possible way. It's a more thrilling ride (after the first loop), and it's a more comfortable experience - able to be enjoyed by people who couldn't tolerate Mantis. My only complaint is that the first drop "feels" shorter in the new rider position, but that's a relatively small price to pay. For what it's worth, on my previous visit, I rode in rows 4-6. I still need to try other parts of the train; I'm curious whether I'll enjoy rides in rows 2 and 8.

2014 TEA/AECOM attendance report

Of course, especially considering local passholders, not all of one day's guests are in the park at the same time. -
Accident on Alton Towers Smiler
malem replied to Bennett's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Park to remain closed until the cause of the accident is determined; scrapping the ride being considered. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/11650536/Alton-Towers-to-remain-closed-as-bosses-consider-scrapping-The-Smiler.html -
Ensuring that rides are ready in time (including having completed inspections) is the responsibility of Kentucky Kingdom, not the department of agriculture. Maintaining effective communication and good relationships with agencies they depend on is also their responsibility. If the park wanted to explain the delay, a simple statement that they were still waiting on ride inspections would have sufficed. Whining and blaming others was not necessary or even remotely professional.

Accident on Alton Towers Smiler
malem replied to Bennett's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Former employees talk to the media, speculate about human error: http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/jun/03/human-error-likely-in-alton-towers-smiler-crash-former-staff-claim -
The 2014 report has been released: http://www.teaconnect.com/images/files/TEA_103_49736_150603.pdf KI up 1%, CP down 4%, SeaWorld down markedly, Universal up markedly. Note that numbers in the report are industry estimates that aren't necessarily accurate. Most parks don't release attendance figures.

It's probably referring to the souvenir drink bottle offer; refills are free on the day of purchase.

Cool weather could have something to do with it; Soak City attracts many guests on hot days.

Accident on Alton Towers Smiler
malem replied to Bennett's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^^ Several people on this forum work (or have worked) as ride operators at Kings Island. What you described is basically how it works. For more, look up information about block braking systems. Here's a link to a basic explanation: http://www.coaster101.com/2011/11/23/coasters-101-brakes-blocks-and-sensors/ What failure led to two trains in the same block is one of the questions being discussed. -
There were fatalities in that explosion, so I don't see it being used in fictional ride theming. Any surviving descendants might not appreciate it. See the Plarr family. Nice story, though.

Whining and passing the buck? Clearly, management of this park doesn't care to hire competent public relations staff.
-
Even if a collection agency takes 90%, 10% of a delinquent account is higher than 0%. Collection calls aren't very good marketing for potential future customers. Especially when the nonpayment is by accident.

93 in Virginia, and you'd probably be doing jail time.

Cedar Point Fast Lane discount
malem replied to dragsterguy21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Platinum passholders are entitled to "perks" at all Cedar Fair parks, but these perks vary by property. Indeed, at Kings Island, gold and platinum perks are the same. Cedar Point's promotion allows platinum passholders to buy Fast Lane Plus at the Fast Lane price - both online and at the park. Kings Island doesn't currently have a special passholder offer for Fast Lane (Plus). Note that Kings Island gets a much larger share of its visits from season passholders than does Cedar Point. Discounting Fast Lane for passholders at KI might make remove the "fast" aspect. -
And I thought a group of adults in amusement park attire looked weird standing in that line.
-
^ The PASS discount code is advertised on Kings Island's passholder portal for KI gold passholders. Staying at a CP resort would give you access to Early Entry and let you buy tickets at deeper discounts.

A week ago was Soak City's Opening Weekend. With the warm weather over the past week, the water has probably warmed up a bit since then. I'm debating doing the waterpark tomorrow (with the air temperature in the upper 60s), assuming it doesn't close for low attendance before I'd get there. It couldn't be worse than Zoombezi Bay's 2014 opening weekend. (Air temperatures in the upper 50s, cold water, and perhaps a dozen other guests in the park.)
