  1. On the contrary, I like that there are ways to bypass scare zones. Think of a young person, about 12 to 14 years old, who is visiting Haunt for the first time and is truly terrified. I saw a case of that on KIC night last year with a certain user whom I will not name. They may want to bypass the scare zones for a while to get from one ride to another and choose for themselves when to venture into a scare zone later when they feel they have built up enough courage to face the monsters. If they were forced through scare zones to get to every ride in the park, they may very well turn tail and ask their parents to leave early. That's a lost opportunity for revenue in the form of a meal later in the night or even Fright Lane passes, as well as a bad guest experience that may prevent that family from coming back to Haunt in future years. So forcing everyone through scare zones is bad for business.
  2. It's not. It's actually really easy and in my opinion they're giving a lot away. I won a front of the line pass (on a day that wasn't even crowded...). While waiting for Plinko two people won a free Xtreme Skyflyer ride and another won a front of the line pass. Is the Plinko board a guaranteed winner every time, like the prize wheel was at Vortex, or does it one or more non-winning spaces like the prize wheel at Diamondback did?
  3. There are indeed two elevators in the Eiffel Tower. The second one (left door as viewed from the queue), which goes to the 265' platform, is not used except on busy days such as Saturdays when the right elevator and 275' platform are not able to handle the crowds. I have also seen it in use once during a steady rain, as the 265' platform has a ceiling (the floor of the 275' platform immediately above) and thereby has protection from the rain.
  4. I think this sets a record for oldest topic bump in KIC history.
  5. How much time elapsed between the announcement of CP's Banshee and the announcement that the name had been changed to Mantis?
  6. And that's what baffled me with my old TracFone service. I would have trouble getting service in the park and in the parking lot, but as soon as I left and went somewhere close by, I had no issues with it. I would assume that having only traveled a mile or so from the park, I would likely still be on the same tower(s), so what's going on?
  7. It really is difficult to find the previous threads on this, though. The search function on the forums won't allow any search terms under four letters long, so you cannot search for "bat pov" (not to mention that both of those words are considered too common and would not be allowed even without the minimum length restriction). It is possible to search the forums through Google, but many people do not know how to do a site search through Google. So don't knock on Dwight too much. Those threads are difficult to find.
  8. Those figures are estimates only and may be way off. Cedar Fair does not release actual attendance figures for individual parks.
9. In the lower right corner of the photo area at the top of the page, you'll find several icons. One of them is sharing options (or "more sharing options"). Clicking on that will produce a small popup with options for HTML and BBCode. Select that, then the "BBCode" radio button. Next, select the size you want to embed from the dropdown menu. Finally, copy and paste the raw code provided directly into the main post text box (not into the "media" option or any of the other options above the post text box).
  10. ^ What is a "top scan"? I've never heard of one.
  11. Would getting caught smoking warrent a ban? I hope so. I certainly don't want the ashes flying back and hitting me in the face and burning me.
  12. My TracFone phone, running on the AT&T network, always had problems getting a signal on busy days, but that was more a case of having bars but no service, which I'm guessing is because AT&T had kicked me off the network so they could put their own customers first. However, this year it began experiencing those problems even on days with moderately light crowds, and I could not get service inside the Festhaus or Flight of Fear at all. Having switched to Verizon early last month, I have had no problems with it, but I have yet to test it on a truly busy day. Service is fine in the Festhaus; I haven't tested it in Flight of Fear.
  13. Reminder to everyone: If you want to show what is happening on the webcam at that moment, you cannot simply link to or embed the webcam image directly from KI's servers. If you do that, your embedded or linked image will continue to update every minute, and hours later, those who are trying to read this thread will be lost as to what you were referring to. I've seen this twice tonight while trying to catch up on this thread. To properly show the webcam at a particular point in time, you need to save the image to your computer and upload it to a third party hosting site, then embed the image from that site. That way the image will not change and people catching up late at night will be able to see what you were referring to.
  14. I'm trying to wean myself off of Wikipedia, actually. Thanks. I'll watch that tomorrow when I won't risk waking someone up with a scream.
  15. So there's only two and a half cents worth of them out there? That's about the maximum I would pay to ride one if it was on a pay-per-ride system.
  16. Y'all may think I'm stupid, but what is Slenderman? I honestly have no clue.
  17. Speaking of which, Don is still featured in the picture for them on the Carowinds website: https://www.carowinds.com/rides/Planet-Snoopy/Woodstock-Gliders
  18. If a camera is steaming, that's generally a bad thing.
  19. The Beast closes because a portion of its track (namely the roofed section where the trim brakes are located and the right turn immediately before) are too close to the launch site, which is in a nearby clearing. You can see where the fireworks are being launched from by riding WindSeeker during the fireworks. As for Racer, the Red Racer's turnaround is far enough away that it can continue running. The Blue Racer is usually closed for the day by fireworks time, but on the rare occasions it is still operating at that time, I believe it also has to shut down for the fireworks because it is too close to the launch site as well. Can someone verify that?
  20. For lack of a better place to post this at the moment, here's my own video of the announcement: I'm a little miffed at YouTube because I shot this video with my phone in 1080p, which bloated the file size to 1.9 GB. That took 16 hours (spread over two days) to upload to YouTube, only to find that the highest resolution YouTube will show it in is 720p. If I had known that it was going to do that I would have shot it in 720p to begin with, which would likely have cut the file size and thus the upload time in half.
  21. It is impossible to determine how forceful an element is based solely on its radius. The speed at which a train travels through the element is a critical factor. I believe the bottom of the batwing is the lowest point of the ride on Banshee, so that will probably be where the top speed of 68 mph is reached. I'm not familiar with the technical details of Montu, but it is likely traveling slower than that going through the batwing. The faster the train is traveling through an element, the larger the radius must be, otherwise the g-forces will be too high for the average person to handle and riders will experience G-LOC, which nobody enjoys.
  22. This. I've made the four hour trek to Holiday World twice this year for Wildebeest and Mammoth as much as Raven and Voyage. Give me something like that in my own backyard. And compared to big roller coasters, those things are not nearly as expensive (I believe that both Wildebeest and Mammoth were well under $10 million each, while Banshee is costing $24 million), so it would be easy for Cedar Fair to do.
