I just saw someone post on Facebook that Kings Island is closing at 5:00 pm, which is right about now. Can anyone at the park confirm? EDIT: Confirmed via the park's Facebook page:

Kennywood adds Steelers coaster!
jcgoble3 replied to Creed Bratton's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is a much, much better use of the colors black and yellow. -
Welcome to KIC! Your question is a very common one. Others with experience in such matters will show up soon to offer advice (at 5'6" and 160 pounds, I can't help you), but in the meantime, try using the search function in the upper right. Many threads have been posted on this subject in recent months and years, and most of the advice in those threads remains valid. The most recent thread on the subject is here, to get you started. (Paging @IndyGuy4KI and @malem: might I suggest collecting all of the advice from this and other similar threads into an FAQ and pinning it to the top of the forum?)

Kennywood adds Steelers coaster!

And just like that, any desire I had to visit Kennywood just vanished. -
I believe it still says that, or at least is supposed to if everything's working, but you can't hear it over the anti-rollbacks.

Open the menu in the upper left and turn 3D off. You'll then get much more up-to-date imagery showing Banshee and Mystic Timbers. You have to do this every time you load Google Maps, as it always defaults to 3D on.

From a practical perspective, the show is physically demanding for the performers, and their bodies have limits as to how much they can do. 19 shows per week (4 on Saturday and 3 on the other five days) is quite a lot for them. Adding the 11:30 show without canceling a show later would have made that 20 for the week, which might be tipping the scales a bit too much. Too much physical exertion can leave one at greater risk of injury. So for the performers' safety, it makes sense to drop the last show of the day when adding an early show. That said, it does not sound like either change was handled well.

I'm not seeing that offer either in a splash screen or in the ticket store. I'm located in Xenia, Ohio.

Are you still forced to walk through it as you exit, or can you now escape out the gate at the bottom of the stairs?

Or perhaps the investors are simply smart enough to see through the TEA's bull****, and Cedar Fair knows that. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why one shouldn't rely on those numbers. Facts: TEA claims to have per-park attendance numbers. Cedar Fair does not publicly release such numbers and keeps them as an internal secret. Conclusion (that anybody with half a brain can figure out): TEA's numbers are wild speculation at best and bull**** at worst. Cedar Fair has no need to state the obvious.

KI lets slip plans for 2019 exist on IG today?
jcgoble3 replied to BruceWayneWins's topic in Kings Island
#demolishVortex Sorry, but it's old, outdated, and has aged rather poorly. There are far better experiences that could sit in that spot. Past time to get rid of it. I'll miss the beautiful photos people take of it, but I won't miss the ride itself. -
Don't know why it happened, but I do know that one of my friends on Facebook was all excited that she got to walk down the stairs.

Carowinds 2019 Coaster
jcgoble3 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
On the other hand, it takes very little time or money to paint a fake logo like that. Somebody could have easily done that on their coffee break. Just because enthusiasts are not as important to the parks as we like to think we are doesn't mean the parks totally ignore us. My favorite example of this are the O'Terpy and O'Suhr headstones that went up shortly before Banshee's announcement (and I think are still on display if you know where to look). I'm not saying that it is fake or that it isn't, just that perhaps it could be. -
KICentral Interview July 4th and Beyond for 2018
jcgoble3 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
ACE Landmark status merely recognizes a coaster's place in history. That award is permanent and cannot be lost because of modifications to the ride. If the ride were modified to such an extent that it became an entirely new coaster, there is the possibility that the plaque next to the entrance might be taken down, but the award would remain on the books. You may be thinking of ACE Coaster Classic status, which recognizes coasters that meet certain criteria and can be rescinded if the coaster is modified in a way that means it no longer meets those criteria. Such was the case with the coaster at Kings Island now known as Woodstock Express, I assume when the seat belts were added. -
General Cedar Point Questions

I'm a Jedi, not a Sith. -
I suspect that some parents don't understand the safety issues and risks involved and falsely assume that height requirements are an arbitrary rule imposed by the park because the park feels like the ride is too scary or whatever for anyone smaller.

Weather always affects crowd levels, but that effect is amplified on opening day and holidays. Take Mystic Timbers (and these numbers are simply for illustration; they may be inaccurate): On an ordinary day, weather can be the difference between a wait of 10 minutes or 30 minutes. On holidays, it can be the difference between a station wait and a 90-minute wait.

8pm closes are only in the "shoulder seasons" (spring and late summer), when schools are in session and attendance and staffing are low. In the main summer season, closing time is always 10pm, except occasionally midnight.

That's what news stations do.
