Speaking of lift speeds, The Bat's lift didn't slow down on the way up.
-
Not terrible, probay due to the weather. I think you should come up; it's a great day to ride stuff. Bat just came online, btw.

Beast is station wait.

Firehawk is down; FOF's gonna be a station wait.

Enquirer: Ranch cotton candy is now a thing at Kings Island
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Ranch sounds gross, but Pancake flavor sounds intriguing. -
...when at this time tommorrow, there won't be an OffSeason... Here we go... a little more than 24 hours to go! And yes, I feel like I'll be up early tommorrow; unless it's like last year when I was late to breakfast (and, IIRC, so was everyone else) lol

So, I have an idea... what if we got the first Giga with an inversion. I could see there being a 175-200 ft. Zero-G roll stuck somewhere along the course. Also, I was thinking today... IIRC, no Cedar Fair parks have a B&M Flyer. Finally, a 300 ft. RMC Raptor (with single-row seats) would be terrifying.

Best B&M collection?
MDMC01 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I voted for NJFTP even though I've never been there. They have the most B&M types of any park (I think?) and they certainly have an interesting B&M lineup (Stand-Up, Hyper, Floorless. Invert, Flying); I think all they are "missing" is a Dive Coaster. -
Happy Birthday Vortex; though you were originally built as a replacement, you have since cemented your way as an iconic part of Kings Island's coaster lineup. May your back seat rides always provide enjoyment to riders.
-
I actually like that Off The Charts is at the Bandstand (it reminds me of hearing music as a kid at the Blue Ash Towne Square), but I understand why some would prefer a more seated area. And as I said before, I would love to see some familiar faces at Cirque this year, but I'm sure I'll come to enjoy the new cast.

This (in bold). If this happened, the only reason to go to Rivertown would be the rides and the mazes; I'd stay on the left side of the park my entire visit!
-
I knew Firehawk's on-ride photo booth is gone (the building is still there, I know), but where was Adventure Express's photo booth in relation to the ride (I think the actual photo may have been taken after the first drop?)?

Just finished listening; great job @IndyGuy4KI and crew! I'm pretty pumped for the Mac n' Cheese [bar? ] and Sweet Potatoes at Coney BBQ and also really excited to meet Chef Major! Also, I'm glad you addressed the underutilization of Timberwolf and that Mr. Showalter is going to pass your suggestion along. Finally, it's interesting what Mr. Showalter is not telling us, such as the other special events in the park and general surprise upgrades we'll see in just 4 days (or 3 days for some of ya'll). EDIT: Also, as for future topic ideas, I'd like to hear about Fun Facts for some of the coasters/rides at the park, such as The Bat (1993) or Firehawk.

Twisted tiger for bgt?

Agreed (on not RMC'ing Lightning Racer). If anything, can we please RMC Wildcat, maybe? -
WCPO: When the Timberwolf was the soundtrack of summer
MDMC01 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Timberwolf once hosted Britney Spears??? That's so cool! I agree, they do need to have a local concert series. I mean, Spirit Song and Winter Jam (another Christian music concert series held at US Bank Arena) can coexist; why not local concerts at Timberwolf and elsehwere (Riverbend, US Bank Arena, etc).?* I think it would be a fantastic thing for the park to market. * Another example is how Summit Park in Blue Ash has huge concerts/events like the Taste of Blue Ash, but the Towne Square still hosts concerts (such as the Mio's Concert Series). -
So, Mystic Timbers is great and certainly better than Raven. Legend and Voyage are harder to compare to MT because all 3 coasters have different foci (MT focuses on twisty airtime while Legend focuses on laterals and Voyage is aggressive). MT's shed is nice, but don't hype it up too much or you may get let down. Otherwise, enjoy your ride!

So, just looked at my original post, and while I think a launched Wing coaster in X-Base would be super cool and different, I also really want a Floorless. A ground-up RMC would be nice too.
-
Did it ever have handles? I tried to look on RCDB's pictures of Stealth, but I wasn't able to zoom in.

First off- AWESOME post TombRaiderFTW; I love how you compared the speculation for the shed with the speculation around Tomb Raider back in the day (I thought it was gonna be a coaster too, but somewhere along the line, I heard it wasn't, so I didn't know what was in there until I rode). Also, I agree the shed was way overhyped in our minds, however, the shed has grown on me. I think if they stuck with the #rideintotheunknown hashtag/slogan (which I personally think is a better hashtag than #whatsintheshed) and just left the shed as is, people would have been blown away. But yeah, a lot of people(myself included)'s expectations were extremely built up. I remember waiting 2.5 hours for my first ride and thinking the ride was awesome, but then when it got to the shed, I was like that's it? I mean, I get why they did what they did (the mysterious shed is a part of the ride...), but people's speculation was too high and then they got let down. That being said, I cannot wait to ride Mystic and Firehawk in 11 more days!!!! EDIT: Also, I'm not sure what factors (the spread of social media, newer element options for dark ride sections- like Thirteen) exactly led to the shed overhype vs. Tomb Raider's significantly less hype. I'm also curious to find out...

Good stuff. Did you/have you ridden Nighthawk? I'd love to ride that someday!
-
Well, at least there is still Off The Charts (and Cirque is coming...). Oh well, more time for riding stuff! Also, that stinks that Back to the 90's isn't coming back; I loved that show, but it had a great run! EDIT: Forever Country could be interesting; we'll have to wait and see...

Kings Island Announces 2018 Changes
MDMC01 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I think so. Reds is (well, was) the only true restaraunt at KI and I think the pulled pork and ribs'll be here to stay. Maybe IR will become an actual restaurant (like Red's was), but we'll have to wait and see. -
According to my Coaster Count, here's my list: Kings Island (Home Park) (Paramount's) Carowinds Cedar Point Coney Island (the ohio one) Dollywood Dorney Park Great Escape (a Six Flags owned park in New York) Hersheypark Holiday World Indianapolis Zoo (as there is a coaster there) Kentucky Kingdom (post- Six Flags- funny story, though... I did have tickets to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom at one time, but they expired before I could use them...) (Paramount's) Kings Dominion Michigan's Adventure Six Flags Great America Stricker's Grove Universal Studios: Islands of Adventure (pre- Harry Potter) Total: 16 EDIT: I've also been to the Columbus Zoo a few times as a kid, but did not ride Sea Dragon.

Kings Island Announces 2018 Changes
MDMC01 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Just watched the two videos posted of Mr. Major and I like his strategy of having the best food (as stated in the 1st video). IMO, we've already got some awesome food in LaRosas's, Tom+Chee's and that bread at Chicken Shack (along with pulled pork, Mac and Cheese and Grilled Chicken Sandwiches)! I can't wait to meet him in person come Opening Day.
