Happy 45th KI! Throughout my 3 visits thus far, I've gotten to ride a good chunk of the enjoyable rides that keep me coming back to the park season after season (ok, so I haven't ridden Beast yet this season, but that will be remedied next time).
-
Adventure Express, my good sir.
-
13 min wait for Express.
-
So, Festhaus's line isn't too bad atm; Waiting for Back to the 90s. I decided to come today instead of Sun. It looks busy in the park, but I haven't seen any of the ride lines.

I think a Peanuts piece plays in Planet Snoopy, after the Veggietales rendition of "He's got the whole world in His hands". Don't ask me how I know this...

I still say it could be cool to annex AZ and parts of Oktoberfest into Adventure Village (which could incorporate the German theming with other adventure-themed things in Action Zone). But yeah, it would be cool to have one more ride in Oktoberfest, perhaps a thrilling flat ride? EDIT: It will definitely be interesting to see what KI/Cedar Fair does with that area in the coming years.

Is Vekoma really that bad?

I rode Carolina Cyclone back in '01 and enjoyed it (I previously visted Carowinds back in '01 and '03). The only coasters I have yet to ride there are: Vortex, Nighthawk, Fury, Flying Cobras, Ricochet, Intimidator, Woodstock Express and Lucy's Crabbie Cabbie. Sorry to disappoint you all, but I've had my mind set on making Nighthawk my 100th for a while . In fact, I took the year off of Firehawk last year to prepare myself so that I can try to experience what those first riders on Stealth felt during their first ride on a flying coaster (I mean, I have ridden Firehawk and enjoy it, but I just wanted to make it seem as "new" as possible, if that makes sense...) -
Those candy bars look so cool. I feel like I'd get one just for the wrapping (plus, I don't eat chocolate).

Fury will be 101. As for why I chose Stealth/Nighthawk to be 100? Nostalgia! -

So, I voted for the second option. Per RCDB and my own coaster count, I have been on exactly 7 Vekomas. These include one Standard Boomerang, an Inverted Boomerang, 2 Family Suspended Coasters, an SLC, a family coaster, and a Flying Dutchman. Out of those, I've really enjoyed the SLC (T3), the Flying Dutchman (Firehawk) and the Inverted Boomerang (Invertigo at KI). I really do appreciate Vekoma's innovation, such as the creation of the first standard flying coaster with Stealth (which I'll be riding this summer for my 100th coaster!) - and it's subsequent installations at Geauga Lake and Six Flags America - as well as the daring Tilt Coaster in Taiwan (there's a pair of dueling tilt coasters in China, but those are not by Vekoma). So, yeah, Vekoma's pretty ok. -
Good explanation, TombRaiderFTW; the instruction to hotwire the truck and explore the woods explains why I hear the "roaring" sound every time a train pulls out of the station. Honestly, I think MT's story is a little hard to follow (but I do appreciate what you all have been able to piece together). However, even if there was no clear story, the theming and the stellar ride experience speaks for itself. EDIT: @Magenta Lizard: Amy Steele's story actually makes sense when you think about Me gusta!
-
Thanks for the update, malem! That bridge used to scare me when I was younger as it's so high.
-
I second Magenta Lizard's comment in saying that I'm looking forward to the finished product (and to see if SOB/King Cobra are included); this is a really cool project! Also, in reference to that Tumble Bug image, it's crazy to think that ride once stood where the basketball games are now!
-
I'm curious what they'll do with MT's shed come Winterfest (or Haunt, even)...

While reading through the thread, I just wanted to add some things about the queue and lift audio. The Also, on a funny note, the whole "Warning, keep out!" announcement when you enter the line makes me think of a disclaimer from a Poketuber (someone who does Pokémon videos on YouTube) as he (SilverLeagueNetworks) always says "Warning! This video may contain potential bias..." before almost every video. EDIT:

So, I just finished my trip report from Opening Day (I don't usually share KI ones on KIC, I just keep 'em to myself) and it was very long. The only thing I got hung up on is while I was doing that, I was also remembering (and writing down) the setlist from Back to the 90's and I couldn't remember what song played after "Two Princes", but before "How do I". Yeah, I feel like this is going to be another "The Boyz are Back"- after the first show, I'm hooked! The first act is good, but I really like the 2nd and last acts (I'm not sure if there are three or four acts- while watching, it felt like 4 (which was impressive to me), but when I wrote all the songs/acts down that I remembered, I only got 3.
-
I don't remember. I know that they found it when they were checking my seat belt and I was surprised about that. It turned out ok in the end and I was able to ride; but I now know first hand that no loose articles means NO loose articles.
-
Also, for those riding Mystic Timbers, you can't ride with a fanny pack; I found this out the hard way.
-
I must get a Bat Pin next time I go to the park! Thanks for the pic Goble. Did you see any MT pins?
-
So, I have a bit of explain' to do for my answers... For the first questions' answer is pretty accurate, but I still think Lightning Racer might have a slight edge (Though I am really glad KI now has a GCI!). For the second question, I chose the second answer as I was very underwhelmed by the shed on my first ride, but it has grown on me since. For the third question, the only reason I answered Mystic Timbers is because I haven't ridden The Beast yet this season (though I'd like to).
-
Hey all, back again! So, I got to ride Mystic Timbers for the first time on Preview Night as my 98th coaster. I've basically given my review of it in the "How was your ride on Mystic Timbers" thread, but I just wanted to reiterate that I think it's a solid ride that got better every time I rode (in fact, last night's ride was probably the most aggressive that it's been). My final destination will be Carowinds, and I'm hoping this happens in July 2017. Stay tuned and prepare to take flight! EDIT: I should also note that I waited 2 and a half hours for that first ride as the queue started near Slaughter House, snaked through Madame Fatale's, went thru Rivertown, and took up the whole of the MT queue.
-
Interesting theory/observation, Melody! EDIT: I should also note that for my 3 rides, I waited 2 1/2 hours, 10-15 minutes, and approx. 2 hours, respectively. Also, I'm going to add on to Melody's theory and say that maybe...
-
So, I've ridden MT 3 times (Twice today, once on Preview Night) and I must say, it is a solid addition to the park and I'm really glad we have a GCI in the park! The speed and twists are awesome and the shed, while underwhelming at first, has really grown on me. As I was saying to Malem, it will be interesting to see which becomes my more Go-to ride this season: The Bat or Mystic Timbers (at least, once the line dies down a bit...). Though I rode it twice today, I'm already hoping to ride again next time I come to the park (along with FOF and Beast). As for the shed...
-
Thanks for pointing that out; I see it now

Here are my picks (Note, I have not been to every Cedar Fair park/ridden every coaster at said parks, so some of these picks are based off of coolness and how they'd fit in with the rest of the park): California's Great America: Demon Canada's Wonderland: Bat, The Fly Carowinds: Nighthawk, Vortex Cedar Point: Maverick, Millennium Force Dorney: Possessed, Thunderhawk, Talon Kings Dominion: Dominator Kings Island: The Bat, Mystic Timbers Knott's Berry Farm: Xcelerator, Montezuma's Revenge Michgan's Adventure: Thunderhawk Valleyfair: Wild Thing Worlds of Fun: Spinning Dragons
