I have never seen that commercial; thanks for sharing Rivertown Rider Also, what happened to the water coasters they mentioned? Was that just advertising or were those originally in the plans and just didn't materialize?
-
I watched the Basilisk video and thought it had a cool layout, however, I see two issues: 1. It seems to lose steam with that cool turnaround near the front gate- maybe rein in the length or maybe build it higher so it goes faster? 2. It crosses over The Bat. I love The Bat and I think that messes with the tranquility of the area. Other than those 2 things, bring it on*! * I don't know that KI needs a Giga, but it is a hole in our lineup and I'd welcome it to the park (and it would be cool in the Wild Animal Habitat/unused SOB area)!

Double-post (sorta...) While driving to work, I saw Drop Tower's lift has gone down (I believe it usually is up during the offseason)... this either means they are putting it back together and/or testing! 51 days ya'll!

Coney has Special Announcement Coming March 2
MDMC01 replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
I have a crazy idea... maybe it could be a Disk'o Coaster (like Surf Dog), but have a splash at the end... -MDMC, just making a wild guess... -
I would like to see this as well, just to see how MT will fit in on the map.

Coney has Special Announcement Coming March 2
MDMC01 replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Coney Island Central
Looks to me like a rebranding of the water park (new logo?) or a bowl slide maybe (because that pulled back part of the post shows part of a circle). -
Good to know, TombRaiderTy; I remember seeing advertisements for the Wild Thornberry's Walkthrough, but I don't remember ever going through it.

Stinger wasn't open when I went! But, I see your point. If I did that, Ricochet might have to be #98 then?

Thanks for sharing that mid-1990's video Shaggy. I remember that climbing maze in Green Slime Zone from when I was a kid. Thanks to the video, I now know where it was in the park (I knew it was in the kids area(s), I just didn't know where exactly). I also remember going one day and it was gone. Anyone on here (someone probably does ) know when it left the park?

Great PTR; I had a blast! Unfortunately, I probably won't be joining in at Carowinds as I'd like to ride Mystic Timbers before standing up to Vortex and soaring the skies on Nighthawk (my 100th coaster!); say hi to Nighthawk for me!

As for this mystery project, I'm going to guess a Wintefest light show near front gate (at that entrance where Don and the Entertainment people were standing) or maybe a house for fireworks (like a "Santa's Sleigh" projection).
-
That was a beautiful post, BoddaH; I'll miss you but I do hope you come to the park and hang out with us sometime. Good luck in your personal endeavors and thanks for being a leader in making this site a great place to be. And I agree that Malem and IndyGuy are doing a fantastic job running things.
-
Oh. My. Gosh. This is awesome. When does it start? If it's really awesome, I hope it lasts more than 1 season like "The Boyz are Back". I'm super pumped!
-
Good luck on the project; sounds cool! As I've stated before on the forums, I think that Don (and the other marketing peeps at KI) took what they learned from Banshee and took it to the next level using Snapchat, Twitter and in-park diversions such as the removal of the funnel cake stand and that vine tunnel that they said was for "nostalgia", but was really for construction (and we'll really find out how the vines tie into the theming in about 64 days...). Again, good luck sir and thanks for keeping us in the loop, so to speak!

Might have to pop in after work on Friday to catch this! I really want to see Finding Dory, so this would be a perfect opportunity!
-
Agreed, I guess I didn't realize the ride was that large (as in, took up that much room) and so out-and-back-ish! Still excited to ride it

If the queue is under the shed as rcwizrd13 stated, then it's highly unlikely there would be a drop track element. If so, it would certainly scare the heck out of guests waiting in line to hear sudden screams above them and possibly see track floating in midair, dangling above them. Or the shed would be super tall and the track would fall in the building. Even so, that would make it interesting.
-
That would be really cool. and because of drummermattk's post, I just realized the significance of the vine tunnel- not just for nostalgic reasons (though that was a side benefit), but maybe for MT's theming or a hint of what was to come (as the vines were started before MT's announcement)?
-
Just thought of what could be in the shed... what if it was an animatronic of one of those circular saws that acted like it could cut the train down the middle, hence the really long shed. Possibly, Oakley or some vines could save you in the end. Just some thoughts...

I didn't watch the whole video, but imo, Beast > Voyage. Although Voyage is more aggressive (when Voyage is done with the three hills, think The Beast's helix x1.5); The Beast is a unique classic that's in a league all of it's own. It's like Banshee and The Bat; while Banshee is more thrilling, The Bat is more nostalgic and all around cooler to me. While Voyage is more thrilling, The Beast is a classic that is cool in it's own ways. Also, my favorite part(s) of Voyage are when it starts going crazy in the woods right after the hills and that awesome Lightning Racer-esque finish where it pops out of that tunnel into the twists before slamming on the brakes. My favorite part(s) of The Beast are: going up the slow lift, smelling the wood, the part from that one lone hill/drop after the first tunnel (I always put my hands up there) to the second lift, and of course the double helix finale is iconic and great.

Not to double-post, but inspired by the name, I came out with this RCT2 behemoth. It's a very quick rendering where I took what the name evoked and threw in some unique elements. Do note that it is a hyper that's in the 240-260 range, however, a giga would obviously be taller. Enjoy! EDIT: And because it's hard to see, there are black supports, purple track and lime green rails (because those looked cooler to me). It also has separate entrance and exit stations.
-
Cool name, I instantly thought of a purple, turquoise and black color scheme- purple track, turquoise track and black supports. Vespertine could be like have some snake-like low to the ground turns along with some airtime hills.
-
That turn with the half-completed tunnel reminds me of Adventure Express's downward turn that goes through the arches. Looking good thus far; only 71 more days!

Cedar Point changes its long-used logo
MDMC01 replied to Oldiesmann's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The new logo's "eh", but I like the classic logo better. And O'Charley's new logo is too modern; I liked the old one better! -MDMC, not a huge fan of change -
1. Watching Vortex, being near the Carosuel, or seeing the climbing maze thing. 2. Either Bat or Banshee 3. My favorite area of the park is Action Zone, with Soak City and Rivertown in 2nd and 3rd place 4. Maybe? I was too scared to ride when I was a kid.* 5. Mystic Timbers, just being in the park again riding great rides and the triumphant return of Cirque (and hopefully DuoFannick!) *EDIT: So, I don't think I correctly answered the 4th question; I thought it was about if they should bring Phantom Theatre back. In answer to the newly proposed question, I'll say King Cobra. I never got to ride it (well, almost...) and I remember seeing it during my childhood. Son of Beast would also be an option, but it's not as nostalgic now due to it being closed the last few years of existence and because the loop was removed.
