Was it Festhaus, perhaps? They have great music! -MDMC, who mostly goes to Festhaus to watch Back to the 90's

I think Dorney has/had (at least as of 2015) FastPay, which is an RFID wristband that one could put $ on to pay for things. I know I picked up an advertisement about it when I went there 2 years ago. Here's an article about it: http://themeparkuniversity.com/theme-parks-101/cedar-fair-tests-fastpay-system-dorney-park/. Not sure if any of the other Cedar Fair parks have implemented/tested FastPay.

My favorite spots to eat/drink at the park are Auntie Annie's, Festhaus, Chicken Shack (for their bread only; I haven't tried any of their other food!), Starbucks, and as of late, Tom + Chee! They've become my new favorite Grilled Cheese place as they always do it right. -MDMC, a picky eater who liked his Grilled Cheese lightly toasted.

Lines weren't too bad today. I clocked Mystic's wait at around 15 minutes for the first two rides and then probably 5-7 minutes (guesstimate) for the last ride. Also, myself and Gator and fam literally walked on to Backlot around 7:45/7:50-ish, so that was nice.
-
I rode the train today specifically for the MT reference, and I did enjoy the inclusion of "Surfin' Safari" near the waterpark (though I think I'll always think of "Kokomo" when riding the train to/from/near SC).
-
Maybe that might explain part of why I'm enjoying Diamondback more this season... And I do agree, that looking back, Diamondback did stick out like a sore thumb, but now the area really works well as everything fits in nicely and it feels complete.

The Beast is a classic night ride, but I think Adventure Express wins it in my book as you're rushing through the rainforest and (mostly) pitch black tunnels. Other good rides at night include Bat, Vortex, Mystic and Backlot.
-
I've only noticed that strobes from on-ride photos are most noticeable/prevalent at night. The only one that always gets me (other than being surprised on-ride) is when Great Pumpkin runs at night, just because it's so bright, sudden, and so close to the pathway.

Don, I saw your list and (for the most part) agree with it, but here are my picks for the Top 6 most thrilling rides at KI (in no particular order): Banshee: From the first drop to the last inversion, this ride hauls through the course. Most thrilling if sitting in the back. Beast: That helix finale; just sayin' Xtreme Skyflier: The one ride that for a while (and maybe it still does) scared me while on ride. Once you pull the ripcord, it's ok, but that loooong flight up is crazy. Scrambler: When riding, I forget how thrilling it is and wonder why it's only rated a 3 (as in, I feel it should be rated higher!) Drop Tower: That drop is always so sudden, but so much fun! If you're really daring, try putting your hands up and legs out during the drop to get some extra floater. Mystic Timbers: KI's newest coaster definitely brings the directional changes and speed of Maverick, but at a slower speed and on a wooden coaster. That first drop is crazy, 'cause I start to put my hands up and then halfway through, I'm holding on for dear life! Honorable mention: Adventure Express. Most thrilling in the back and/or at night! *this list was based on how thrilling the ride is (to me), not necessarily on favoritism ('cause I'd have a lot more awesomeness to say about MT and also The Bat would most certainly be on here ) EDIT: I swapped Firehawk for Skyflier because while Firehawk's thrilling, it's most unique/cool to be then "scary", if you will...

International Park Discussion
MDMC01 replied to silver2005's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Agreed. But it's just that they changed it from what it was back in the day. But if you think about it, they are still improving it in a unique way as no Thrust Air 2000 ever had a loop, so there's that. I'm warming up to the idea... -
To add to what Malem said, other things you can do on crowded days at the park are walk thru Dinos (Dinosaurs Alive!), catch some Pokémon via Pokémon Go (if you have it) or catch a few shows (especially Back to the 90's).

International Park Discussion
MDMC01 replied to silver2005's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I was kinda sad when I heard they were modifying Dodonpa as it's the only exisiting S&S Thrust Air 2000 coaster in the world. I mean it still is, but at least from a historical standpoint, it's like when Son of Beast had its loop removed. Also, on that note of International News, Slammer at Thorpe Park is closing and won't reopen (According to Twitter). That's one of the things I wanted to ride if I ever get to go over there, but at least there's still Colossus... Hopefully, it gets moved to a US Park (or even Canada's Wonderland, they have plenty of unique flats!) so I can still ride this unique thrill machine! -
I answered Yes to both questions; however, the first yes should have an astrisk next to it as I have not ridden it since 2015 as I'm preparing to make Nighthawk my 100th coaster (as it's a similar coaster). Even though I've ridden and enjoy Firehawk, I took the year off so that I could maximize the "newness" of Nighthawk to try to imagine/experience what people must have felt back in 2000 when Stealth soared across the skies as the world's first flying coaster!

In reply to Jdawg and Delirium13's post, I agree that MT's story is a bit hard to follow, but IMO, it's just enough to get it (plus, I like the queue's theming and even the shed's grown on me!). Even though I really enjoyed the absence of FunTV for my first few rides, its presence isn't all that disruptive; especially since those TV's are turned off (with only the FunTV audio playing). I don't believe there was ever security cam footage on the TV's near the woodshed queues (where FunTV is now), was there? As I've said before, I love Mystic Timbers and I'm glad finally we have a GCI in the park! Having ridden in all three trains, I like each train in a different way; Green is my favorite color, Blue is the color of water, and orange is a friendly guy trying his best to get you to the end, all while enjoying a raucous ride in the woods. All and all, I'll say this: there's a reason why MT is in my Top 3 (coasters at KI)!

Good to know, Chris, did not know this... do you know what time the night version comes on
-
... and this is why I'm curious to know what's in the shed come Winterfest. The thing is, do I want to know?... -MDMC, who was terrified of Santa as a kid and still has his qualms about what scariness could be lurking in the shed around Winterfest (though I did meet Evil Santa (Haunt) and he's actually a really nice guy! ).

See, that(referring to Arthur above)'s really hard to tell; I would have called it a dark ride (and not a coaster) up until that outdoor portion, then it becomes a coaster (so, I'd say it's a coaster credit). As for Surf Dog, I don't personally consider it a coaster. However, it's a weird categorization thing as I don't consider Disko's or drop rides like Demon Drop/Drop Tower coasters, but I do consider rides like Wicked Twister, Invertigo and Superman: Escape from Krypton (SFMM) to be roller coasters. EDIT: See, the interesting thing is that when Surf Dog was first known about (I think this was when it was announced and under construction, I'm not sure), RCDB briefly considered it a coaster, and then took that entry offline later on.
-
I would love to see a new Intamin Impulse go somewhere in the CF chain (or anywhere else for that matter)! -MDMC, who loves those coasters!
-
Good job JCoaster25! I can't even make a coaster in No Limits (it's too hard), let alone create something as awesome as this! I feel like someone needs to do a side-by side video of HendrickTrolley's POV of the ride and this No Limits POV to see how similar the two really are! Congrats sir.

Ok! Also, saw a commercial for Cirque du Soliel's OvO show that is coming to Cincy and I was mesmerized; can't wait until Cirque comes back (and if things work out, I might be seeing OvO and Origins on back-to-back weekends!). More on topic, I was on the brake run for The Bat one time (it was before the repaint) and some little kid behind me said "I liked it when we went upside-down!" IIRC, I was chuckled to myself in my seat.

That scale is awesome, TB! I take it you really like Beyonce and tornados... If I had a scale, you'd better believe it would have some Pokemon on it. In fact, some of the benchmarks might be Magikarp -> Slaking -> Celebi -> Snorlax -> Grotle -> Blastoise in Sunglasses (this chart would likely be a work in progress...)

Sorry for the double post, but it looks like I can now edit on mobile with no issues* EDIT: Well, it takes a second to lead, but other than that, it works
-
Thanks Malem for the fix! However, when trying to edit a post on mobile, I get the white screen again (haven't tried it on desktop). Thanks for bringing your tech expertise to the forums!

Instrumental music returns to International Street
MDMC01 replied to BeeastFarmer's topic in Kings Island
Don't know if I said this yet, but the music on I-Street is a nice change of pace. Also, the beginning of one of the songs sounds like the beginning of "Catapult" by Counting Crows. -
So, I rode twice yesterday and finally got to ride all three trains as well as... Also, I rode WWC yesterday and Mystic Timbers looks amazing from Canyon's queue. While the serene woods feel was nice and made it seem out of the way, I love Mystic Timbers too much to be upset about it imposing over the landscape. I just wish I would have taken some pictures back there 'cause it's so beautiful.
