Mr Freeze at SFoT to close
purdude86 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Wonder if it's just going to be rethemed then? -
I would love to see a Phantom Theatre maze. Would be so fun.
-
I agree, when it first opened it was really well done and liked the theming throughout the queue line with scare actors roams the lawn with all the junk and fires around, and then continuing through the exit path back to the midway with the military personnel. Not long after it premiered was cut to just the building and has gone down year over year since.

I can see Planet Snoopy get some love soon too, maybe conversion to Camp Snoopy, but I think Oktoberfest might be next. The removal of Slingshot opens up lots of space for a new flat or possibly 2. If they aren’t major ones they could do a flat ride package that includes new rides in both even (kind of like Canadas Wonderland next year)

I agree that I don't think the name would hurt it that much, and would be grabbing. The ride had issues but it was always popular still, and people would know this is a new version of it. Personally though I'd rather have a brand new hybrid. I enjoyed Son of Beast mostly for the size and the loop but always felt the layout was a little lackluster.

Dollywood New 2023 Attraction
purdude86 replied to Orion13's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Agreed. The theming really pushes this above. For ride variety Kings Island still has it beat easily with three coasters, loge flume, dark ride, and numerous flats, but it's mostly on a concrete slab. With this new coaster, and if Dollywood would add a dark ride to here which they have put out in surveys before, then it would become hard to top. I think if Kings Island revamped Planet Snoopy into Camp Snoopy with some landscaping and an updated Peanuts retheme of Boo Blasters with a full redo they might be able to reclaim it but it would be a tough battle. -
Cedar Fair 2023 Additions
purdude86 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
More trees planted throughout the park as a whole would be great. Love to see more planted around the base of the Eiffel Tower as well in the grassy areas by Diamondback's turn around and BLSC as well. -
There are also a few coasters that have rows that allow for a little more room. I know Banshee at least does (believe it is row 4, can ask an attendant) as we have utilized that when going with a friend before.
-
Tiki Twirl would be cool but might be too similar to Surf Dog. Not sure if it's any bigger though. Different vehicle might make it different enough though. Same for Delirium. Same ride concept as our just smaller and facing inwards. This is my choice if could pick any flat from there. Love the building it runs through too to make it a little different. Give it a more Bavarian look and it would fit in great to Oktoberfest as a return of Bayern Kurve.
-
I would love to see KI get some of the flats from there as that is what we are missing the most. Feel like any coasters from there are already covered by our lineup or would be too low capacity like RailBlazer and Psycho Mouse. Berserker and Orbit would be great additions. Both could be callbacks to old attractions. Put Berserker in Oktoberfest as a new Bayern Kurve and keep it going through a building like at CGA too for theming with a Bavarian look. Then Orbit somewhere in Coney Mall as a return of Skylab. The skyride would be great to have as well.

5. King Cobra 4. Smurf's Enchanted Voyage 3. Vortex 2. Tomb Raider - when it first opened the theming was so good on it. Almost felt like something on the caliber of Universal with the preshow rooms, lighting effects, and theming/décor before even getting on the ride. Over the years and especially as the Crypt it went downhill. Taking out the Crypt itself wasn't really a loss/ 1. Phantom Theater Honorable mentions to: Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal, loved having a large scale log flume and it looked great in the back but we at least still have a good flume in the park. And Les Taxis/Ohio Overland Auto Livery, the new antique cars look nice and will be even better when the landscaping grows up a bit more, but the original ones made such a gorgeous spot in the middle of the park that tied in well with the Tower Gardens area. I enjoy BLSC but it really should have gone in somewhere around Action Zone as it fit that theming and it ruined the scenery where Les Taxis were. Now it's either a junkyard or open lawn with not much in it.

Love seeing all the upgrades and refurbs for this season. If I could pick one general thing to change it would be trees. Would love to see more trees planted around the park and rides. There is so much empty space and flat, wide pathways. Additional trees and landscaping would make the park look a lot nicer and add additional shading around the area too.

Guest leaves dog in 110+ degree car to go to KI
purdude86 replied to disco2000's topic in Kings Island
Agreed. It's bad enough it was done the first time. But the second time in one day it was caught the police should have been contacted. Even if Kings Island wouldn't let him back in this guy will for sure do this somewhere else. -
Since it's the only thing back there and it's not a short walk makes sense for them to close off the entire path/area if it's down.

MY top pick is definitely something reviving Der Spinning Keggers. either a teacup or similar replica of the original or even a tilt-a-whirl with a barrel them could work. A matterhorn style ride would be fun too and could fit in with an alpine theme. Rivertown definitely needs more too. Think a Screamin' Swing where the Crypt's building is and a standard Top Spin themed to logging would fit in well with Mystic Timbers theming too.
-
It used to be my second favorite night ride until Mystic Timbers opened (and before Banshee made them clear the trees around the ruins helix)
-
Unfortunately that’s what I’m expecting to if it did return. Ideally I’d like to see Boo Blasters get upgraded to a shooting ride themed to the Peanuts. Hopefully keeping some actual scenery though and not all screens but a mix would be alright. Then we would have an interactive and they could do a classic style dark ride of Phantom Theatre in Coney Mall where the old Action Theatre is. It would fit in with that theme and they could give it a rundown look without affecting the rest of the lands scenery since it would be blocked by The Racer.

Discussing Land and Space in and around Vortex
purdude86 replied to Klabergian Empire's topic in Kings Island
That's what I assumed. The high expectations was a tease about the drones since they fly up high and seem to be having their launch site set up at The Vortex plot. -
This is what I would want the most and makes sense to get a good spinning flat like that. Barrel themed for whatever goes there to give a sort of return of Der Spinning Keggers. Either teacups style as that was originally the type of ride it was, or even a tilt-a-whirl with a barrel theme would work well. A Zamperla Nebulaz would look nice in Oktoberfest too as others have suggested. I'd probably go with a Glockenspiel/cuckoo clock theme as it has a gear type appearance and would fit into the German theme of the area.

Universal Florida Fansite?
purdude86 replied to rlentless's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Another good one is Disboard. There is a Universal section in it that has a lot of information and gets a lot of replies. -
I agree about the appearance of the flyers but I think they are a ton of fun and the one upcharge I actually consider doing at the parks. However, I hate it's current location as I struggle seeing upcharges as regular park attractions so to me it feels like a massive chunk of land taken from Action Zone. Think if it was moved to Area 72 where it could fit thematically without much theming and be more out of the way it would be better, and allow space for new flats or even a coaster in Action Zone.
-
I'm really hoping that this is a sign of things to come for Oktoberfest. That area is perfect for a new flat. Be ncie if they revamped the Marketplace area/ladder game and spruce up the Biergarten as well. Give the area a more German feel to it. A return of Der Spinning Keggers in some form would be great.

CP After Hours Event
purdude86 replied to Winterfestguy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This was my thought too. The event itself seems nice but not worth the ticket price. A handful of rides and entertainment for 3 hours isn't enough for $99. At that price point I feel like a certain amount of alcohol and food should be included. I was really curious about it until I saw the price point. It sounds like parking isn't even free for attendees as some of the more expensive ticket options include parking with it. For $15 less (+ parking cost) I can buy a ticket that gets me admission for the entire day, parking, and all day dining. So essentially I could buy one bundle ticket and a regular ticket, split food, and be able to get my DH and I into the park for the entire day for the cost of one person to go for 3 hours at night with limited options. I will be curious to see how this event goes and what sort of changes they make for future ones. I like the concept of it but the price point just isn't there. -
I agree the additional season was a good benefit to add that I'm sure many benefitted from, but there were likely a few that didn't. Either had other 2021 plans that made it to where they couldn't get out to the park that year, or even if it was a matter of someone that was uncomfortable being out in crowds like that through the time period. Even if the legalese when buying the passes protects the park, it would be good customer service to provide the option.
