  1. "We expanded our waterpark, they build a waterpark. I hate that park. I'll bet they put in something themed next year." That's not even copying. You can't compare the two of them becuase one is located in a hotel. "Look at it this way, Cedar Point is landlocked. They had no other choice but to add a flat. Other than expanding out into the parking lot or tearing down other attractions the park is maxed out. " Cedar Point is not running out of room. I'm guessing by your post that you think that CP will not build any more coasters since there's no room. I don't know where the link is, but if you have ever seen pictures of the peninsula from the air, you would see that there is still plenty of room. You can't go by their park map. That's misleading.
  2. I think this is a great idea for CP. I wonder why the height requirement is different since they are essentially the same ride?
  3. I am glad that these other people are not excited about IJ:ST. It means I won't have to stand in line behind them...NOT! I guarantee that nearly every naysayer will be lined up for it next year even though they love to trash it here on the boards.
  4. That is also what I have heard about SF parks. I should have ammended what I said because I think it is ok to do this with their permission.
  5. I just want everyone to know that I do not disrespect religion and I didn't post that link to offend anyone. Apparently, religion is a hot topic around here. I myself, am spiritual, but I also have a sense of humor as well.
  6. Yeah, I think not only do the parks frown upon taking cameras on rides, but their insurance companies as well. That is a huge liability and a lawsuit potential. Way back in the early years of PKI, before The Beast, my uncle took a camera on The Racers. This was before the parks didn't allow that kind of thing. Turns out the footage was not all that great since it's hard to hold a camera steady and ride. He has it on 8mm film, I believe. The only way I can even watch it is on a reel to reel.
  7. I think the so called "coaster race" is about to be over. I think you are going to see parks moving to be more like PKI in that you won't see many back to back installations of coasters. Look at Cedar Point. They are finally realizing that you don't have to build more coasters to draw more attendance. That is, if it is true that they are going to add a new flat or two for next year. Also, I agree with an earlier post about PKI having a good collection of coasters, but, for the most part, too many of them are flat out rough. You don't get too much of that at CP.
  8. The Eagles being removed was not really a surprise to me. It's not like that ride had an hour wait or anything.
  9. If Charlene is there, she'll probably have to make an appearance like the Pope does, in a pope-mobile. There would be too many lusting fans after her, me included.
  10. The ride is going to be about two minutes long, so I don't see how that is really short.
  11. I think this is a much better thong. Warning: This link contains content that some may find offensive. (Especially Christians)
  12. I want to know, how many people are planning on being there for the opening of the Italian Job: Stunt Track? I have never been to an opening of any coaster and think it would be cool to be there on its' opening day.
  13. "Does Cedar Fair WANT to buy PKI? I'm sure if the deal was offered to them, they'd jump on it like a nine year old on a trampoline." No. They would jump on it like R.Kelly on a nine year old. "PKI will catch Cedar Point in the coaster count eventually. I think that IJ:ST will be successful and will be followed by another coaster within a year or two." You are assuming that PKI is going to build another coaster soon and CP is not. I am willing to bet that CP will build at least two before PKI builds one more.
  14. I think Delirium_Guy has it right about the Gerstlauer Eurofighters for the Addams Family coaster. You can do so much more with the Eurofighters. Personally, I can't wait for the IJ:ST. Even though it is not going to be very high or fast, I think it will be awesome with the effects.
  15. That is a good idea. I wonder if you could put the passes on "hold" and mail in a payment so it won't be charged to your card.
  16. What were your overall thoughts on this season?I think that there was a definite improvement in the employees. So much so, in face, that I now believe that they are on the level of CP employees. (Which CP's emp. attitudes are starting to suck.) Probably by next year, PKI's employees will exceed CP's. What was your favorite attraction this year?I am going to have to say Delirium since this was the first year I rode it. What's the biggest surprise you received from PKI this year?CDBB revamp of the water park. What are you most looking forward to next year?IJ:ST even though it came at the expense of other attractions. What was your best park experience this year?Short lines and a great Beast staff. How could've the 2004 season improve? Refurbish theming in some areas.
  17. I'm not saying that no one enjoyed the Eagles. I have said it many times before. There are several rides over the years that Paramount removed that I loved dearly...i.e. Bayren Curve, Der Spinnin' Keggers, Bavarian Beetle, etc. Yes, I was briefly upset, but now Paramount is finally getting it right to install fantastic new rides in place of the old ones. Get over it. Move on. Life is too short to dwell on something like the removal of a favorite ride.
  18. Yup, Boddah's right. Besides which, parks make decisions based on Return on Investment (ROI), not patterns. Still, basing predictions off patterns is of no use either. It still won't tell you anything. They can make you think you know what is coming next, say a new flat, and then totally throw a monkey wrench into the mix with a BB expansion. Maybe this thread should be more of a wish list than predictions. BTW, here's my prediction for 2005. PKI will in fact install a new ride or attraction of some sort that will make them lots of money with a nice ROI. That's about all there is to know.
  19. Just say it Klockster, you just want to spin 'till you puke.
  20. Why is it that people think there is some kind of pattern in what PKI is installing? There is no pattern. You cannot predict what is coming next based on what they have previously done, just like every other park.
  21. Dude, you're reading the wrong facts. It says the time of ascent(the lift hill) is 15 seconds, not the entire ride. Ride duration is 2 minutes.
  22. No, that is not the screaming squirrel. It is listed as the frequent faller from Interactive Rides. I don't think it looks boring at all. I really don't think you would want the momentum to keep building up considering how the cars swing back and forth. Here's a link to the screaming squirrel from S&S/Arrow.
  23. I, for one, can't wait for this remake of WOTW. I think a flying coaster with custom alien ship style trains would be cool.
  24. I liked the concept for the Addams Family coaster as well. But, I think many people were thinking that the coaster was going to be more on the lines of a Gerstlauer Eurofighter. I can put up a link to the Eurofighter if you like.
