  1. Well, it looks like the red track is not for SeaWorld Orlando's new ride.

  3. What's to stop them from doing the same with Thunder Road? I highly doubt that it would cost that much. It does sound more like they decided it wasn't worth it. Whether it's because the ride is noisy, a visual barrier, or not providing desirable ROI from the retracking, only the park knows.
  4. Some were led to believe that they already did, or did attempt to, attend Kentucky Kingdom's 2015 opening day.
  5. Season passes, once processed, are not refundable for any reason. Doubly so if you have used it so much as once. A voucher might have been refundable, but as you renewed online with a payment plan, that's out the window. When you purchased your season pass and agreed to a payment plan, you entered into a contractual agreement to pay $X/mo for Y months. That's a legally binding contract. To my understanding, there is no cancellation provision. If you find someone who feels sorry for you at the park, they may well take pity. That said, I wouldn't count on it.
  6. There's nothing to fix because it was an intentional design decision. They don't want you to see that the park has hours-long wait times on the rides and decide to stay home. Whether or not enough people would think to check before leaving home is another question. Then again, given the popularity of smartphones and the internet, the word could quickly spread. This just in to the news room: you can check how busy Kings Island is before deciding to go! Many might decide to skip a KI trip altogether, thinking it a horribly overcrowded place, rather than wait for a lighter day, thus distributing crowds. The theory behind the park's decision is surely something similar to this, eh?
  7. Adventure Express' second lift hill is such a tease.
  8. Kentucky Kingdom has done ~50,000 in attendance over nine days. Worse, they claim it took them seven weekends to do so. A local high school fair is said to do 100-125k+ in attendance over four days. Hmm...
  9. No worries, I was just spreading the good (or bad, as it were) word.
  10. It's simple. Thunder Road is blocking in the water park from developable land in the parking lot and beyond. It's not as if they could alter the structure to create a new walkway to the other side, and put the new water rides over there. Wait... Why don't they do that?
  11. It definitely sounds like it's going away, sadly, as it will be replaced by multiple attractions. Combine this with the "big splash" teaser from media day and I'm inclined to believe we'll see a water park expansion out into the parking lot. It's a shame, really, that they couldn't find a way to work around it. Magnum divides Cedar Point's Soak City and yet guests find their way around just fine.
  12. Carowinds just announced on Facebook that Thunder Road will race its last race on July 26. What might these "future family-fun attractions" be?
  13. Count up the number of yellow and black days before today and tell me you don't get 6 and 3 respectively. That totals 9, or 4.5 2-day weekends. 4.5 is hardly 7.
  14. Well, I completely just miscounted. Somehow I tricked myself into counting 7 previous weekends. It's clearly too early for me to be doing math on a weekend. 3 buyout days + 6 public days = 9 days Fixed..
  15. One attraction consisting of two fully-independent coasters that share a wooden structure and are intended to operate in tandem.
  16. 3 buyout days + 6 public days = 9 days 50,000 attendance / 9 days = 5555 / day (average) Not all that impressive, is it?
  17. You would think that by the latest update, in 2015, IP.Board would automatically parse posts and signatures to verify that all tags are closed as needed, but alas.
  18. The park refers to the ride, both on signage and online, as The Racer. See also: https://www.visitkingsisland.com/rides/Thrill-Rides-12-14-11-44/The-Racer However, on FunTV, it is referred to as Racer S and Racer N. Similarly, The Beast is occasionally referred to simply as Beast. The the is both there and not, they cannot decide...
  19. Courtesy of GOCC / Jesse Rose Cedar Point seems to be building a little timeline of its current roller coasters. What might go at the end of this list? Well, as the sign says, CP is the Roller Coaster Capital of the World. They don't always go for tallest or fastest, but they have a lot of variety that complements the beautiful beaches and lake (when it's not green). Might this be a hint that a new type will be added to their collection? Of course, it could be another Centurion-style red herring, but I don't find that likely. For those who don't know, this fence was put up around the former Good Time Theater / Dodgem site.
  20. Only if you're comparing Wild Cherry Pepsi Made With Real Sugar to Coca-Cola Cherry (made with high-fructose corn syrup). The Coca-Cola Company has yet to come out with a Coca-Cola Cherry variant containing sugar (preferably of the cane variety). Oh what a glorious day that would be.
  21. Perhaps, if they have negotiated lower pricing for all of their brands, once the existing contract expires.
  22. Get some LED bulbs. They're so energy efficient that you can feel okay using the lights.
  23. So, something like this. Added benefits over CFL include no mercury and a plastic (shatterproof) outer shell. A lot of LED bulbs, including the IKEA ones I'm using, are still glass. They're fully dimmable but sadly only come in 40W and 60W equivalent; no 100W.
