Kings Island names new Park Manager
They are counting on KI to produce attendance and revenue with minimal spend. Currently, people will buy and renew without regard to the experience. When the numbers fall, they will invest. Or we will be in the hands of a private equity firm ...or in my dreams, HFE.

Shops & Restaurants You Miss At Kings Island!
I might be wrong on this, but I think pizza has always been in The Italian Building, Fudge/Saltwater Taffy in The Spanish Building, a Patisserie in The French Building, a sausage had and some sort of bigger eaterie in The German Building, and the Rainbo Bakerie in The Swiss Building. I don't remember much about the merch from the early years besides the glass blower who actually made his wares in front of you, the character and fruit sippers, and going out to the car to eat because we were poor :).

Kings Island names new Park Manager
If I had any position in this company, I would be making a back up plan. How stable are these park level social media positions? How stable are the executive chef positions? Logic would dictate very stable as food is seen as a key metric for future growth. Will they say " hey Chef Major can handle everything east of the Mississippi River, and Chef X can handle anything west if it. On the park manager position...if that person knows the market very well, but the regional person doesn't, would they be targeted for advocating for their park vs a copy/ paste from another? Have you noticed how much the stock price is down? Are investors unhappy with the direction? I watched about half of the investment day video, and besides horrible audio, it looked like a dumpster fire to me.

It was placed there, but in recent times, they put The Beast canyon cold drinks sign back up. Has it been switched back?

^ No, not mad and you weren't rude at all! I'm looking forward to hearing your experience with it.

Roller coasters experiences are subjective to the individual. My post was poorly worded--it should have stated something to the effect of "To me, it is a snoozefest." The best part of the ride for me is the lift and drop. The anticipation and then the fall. The rest of it, for me, was again, a literal snoozefest. No grey out. It wasn't intense. Many people had built it up for me. However, I had recency bias because I had ridden FURY 325 during spring break that same year (I was at KD in June) and it was only my second GiGa. I also rode Volcano: The Blast Coaster several times before I rode it. When sitting on the brake run, my thoughts were--hmmm, that's it? I rerode it once that trip to make sure and it was the same opinion. I focused the rest of my time on the other coasters, especially V: TBC. I'm glad I did because the next visit, it was gone. And on this visit, I had the same thoughts. By this time, I had ridden all of the north American GiGas. It fell squarely at the bottom. But then again, I enjoy The Beast more than The Voyage and, to me, Maverick is ok, but I'd rather ride Magnum XL-200.

Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
I mean, why would his departure change a group outing event? Would a middle school band trip change with his departure? The only thing I can see changing is if he is scheduled to speak. However, the California VP/GMs are staying through May, he would likely have the same treatment. If that's the case, he can continue on and the enthusiast community present can give him a good send off.

^Another casualty. I doubt whoever replaces him will have as much respect for the park as he does. Unless Jeffrey Siebert comes back, but he's a Texas bigwig now.

Kings Island 2025 Special Events
They must have changed this since December. I wouldn't know about this season as I am doing a Kings Island gap year. Retraction: you do get food first then pay. I had a brain fart. But I've never had an issue with waiting to pay. I thought it was because it's not that busy.

Thank you for what you did while you were there. Ideally, your suggestion would have been great if it would have been implemented as a mobile ordering service....but we know how that goes with legacy CF. Unfortunately, my experiences with order then pickup was not positive, like Tr0y. IS Skyline and CM Skyline were/are terrible with this system. It can't be that hard to assemble orders because it's such a limited menu. However, Grain and Grill does a very good job with this. So much more efficient than Skyline was. But they usually staff G&G better than they did IS Skyline.

Kings Island General Discussion 2025
It's.... something. I understand the need for artificial turf, but it looks so saccharine and sterile. Who knows what the future holds under this new direction, but things like this make me concerned for WinterFest. If they really want to ramp up attendance, they need to invest in more climate controlled structures. I could see the event being tossed around to reach the ~10m mark they are aiming for, but they would need to invest. If they aren't going to invest, the event could be on the chopping block. If history repeats itself, it could return in 10-15 years after being cancelled.

I never claimed to be the smartest person here. I was only pondering the rationale of why they do what they do. As I said, I'm on the outside looking in. You seem a little sensitive today, maybe a Pub burger could help.

I'm not judging Grace, but rather the wisdom of corporate, unless she is the corporate decision maker. Truthfully, this addition is " just good enough" to satisfy local passholders, the majority of whom get the information bombarded to them. Just seems to me, looking from the outside in, that the "big cheese" should have went to Chicago, a much bigger opportunity for market penetration and a much bigger investment. With Lindsey wooley britches winter here, they should have postponed Soak City's opening a week and waited for warmer weather for a bigger splash.

Prior planning prevents poor performance. How much of a buzz was generated by having him there and her? I'd argue that, if she is the area supervisor, she should have been at the park they are really trying to build up if she is that good at her job. Kings Island is penetrated, so having her here and , imho, not making much of a splash, may have been the plan though. She didn't build much hype.

Still doesn't make sense that he's not covering KI and Grave is. Thanks for clarifying.

Soak City 2025 Construction Updates
Seems convoluted to me. I mean, you are flying someone in from Canada to Northern KY, all the hotels, meals and per diem that go along with it. There is a spokesperson that people around here have likely never heard of. You have someone else four hours away who wouldn't need airfare and much less expense with travel, hotel, meals and per diem. He also may have some name recognition since his long time park is four hours away? My point is: cost savings synergies and simplified structure do not seem to be paramount here. I don't know the expense ledger, however. But prior planning prevents poor performance. But then again, maybe no thought was put into it and they just needed a warm body to speak with media. The new six flags doesn't seem to value communication much.
