  1. As depressing as it is, I understand. But that doesn't mean that I have to like it
  2. Yeah, that is what I am thinking too. The times I have ridden I305, I have never greyed out. But that ride is nowhere near as good as Orion or even the Junkyard Coaster. But coaster experiences are subjective.
  3. ^ I had a slight grey out on Orion but I was wondering if it was the heat and dehydration.
  4. I'm aware of how KD has done under Cedar Fair, that is why I said if in a very unlikely scenario, KD would probably suffer more. I think that would a terrible shame because KD is such a great park. I hope they decide to invest some capital into the park to maintain the charm it has. I don't think it has to be a massive thrill ride park, but a nice place to visit and have fun. Unfortunately the odds are stacked against it. @coaster sally, I'm sorry my post confused you. I hope this cleared things up.
  5. I say southern markets all the way. Texas is an obvious target because they are now in that market. I'd also love to see the entire SEAS company brought into the fold. Florida, Texas and California, but my awesome Kings Dominion would suffer in that scenario.
  6. While I'd like to have that area restored, the space is devoted to backstage things now. We got two tunnels back in 2016 and they are filling in nicely, so I appreciate that. We can't magically wish we had the charm of Taft completely restored, but the recent direction KI has been taking has made up for so much of what has been lost since the 90s.
  7. I wonder what the feasibility of plant based queue shadings would be? Think a sturdy wire structure with wisteria, similar to the tunnels at WWC. When they grow in, they will overshade the queue. Of course, people are awful creatures and they would probably destroy the trunks of the vines as they are standing in a queue.
  8. Mask usage was consistent with park and state requirements. Indoors on, to enter the park on. Midways and rides, most had them off because they are not required. But as per the summary above, they did enforce the rules they have for masks.
  9. I had a chance to visit the park yesterday. I had to be in Frankfort and it is about halfway to the Kingdom from where I live, so I took advantage of the afternoon. It was so very hot and humid, so I was grateful for the short lines and crowds in the dry park. The water park was where it was at yesterday. I don't do many flat rides because I dont do spinny things. But I did ride the Drop Tower ride, which is always a blast. Storm Chaser was my first ride. I had to wait about 15 minutes, but it was shaded and there was a breeze. The walkway to Storm Chaser from Thunder Run is always a treat to take in. Shaded and beautiful, I enjoyed it while drinking water. Storm Chaser gave me the best ride out of the times I have ridden it. Forceful, but not so much that my legs hurt on the last part. Lots of airtime, very smooth. I did not reride because I wasn't there to marathon. Next, I went to Thunder Run. It is running really well this year after another section was retracked and new ledgers and batter braces were installed. Loads of airtime, even with the new train. On the old train, there were times I was literally inches off the seat. This is one of my favorite coasters at the park. After riding, I stopped by the drink station and got a diet Pepsi and two waters. I wish they still had Coke products, diet Pepsi is just not that good. I then went and rode T3. I actually like this ride! I got more water at a drink station in Hurricane Bay and stopped to cool off. Then I rode Kentucky Flyer three times, once as a zen ride. Always a good ride and looks great against the backdrop of the waterpark. The only thing I wish they had in the small station was a trash can. There is not one and many people just throw their cup off the station. I put my empty cup in the bin and threw it away on the way out of the queue. Next, I stopped for dinner at Swamp Water Jacks. I got pizza and a soft drink and 2 waters. All that for less than $7 and it is much more than a slice, it is 25% of a whole pizza. I could only eat about 30% of it. Some people sat at a nearby table and their 3 small kids started running around and playing. As I left, I told them how cute the kids were. The mom apologized if they annoyed me, but I told her that it actually blessed me by seeing kids be kids and brining some normalcy to life. I went back to the other side of the park and stopped by the gift shop but didn't find anything I wanted to buy. I then did the Tin Lizzies and Lightning Run. This coaster made me nauseated and it normally doesn't. I guess it was just the heat and humidity and a lot of stuff being done in a very short time. I left the park, went to Costco and drove home and had to stop and take care of the nausea (LOL) on the way home. I had a great time, always enjoy Kingdom Radio and the Sinatra songs near closing. The park does not require masks on the midways or rides, But in stores and until you are seated at resturants they do. And they enforce it. I also saw several people turned away at the entrance for no mask, where they measure temperature. They do have masks for sale outside the entrance however, for $1.00. I wish they had hand sanitizer at ride exits like KI does, but then again at my KI visit every.single.one was empty. I had a great time and was glad to experience the park when it looked like it was not going to happen this year.
  10. This piece is about a month behind the times. While I hope it's true, I'm not holding my breath for it. If it does happen, I'd bet we would see some response by KI quicker than we would without it. But then again, it might not be a Raptor. It might be a redo of T3 into T4 with a dueling SLC. At least that is what KK tweeted out.
  11. ^Just don't remove our WWCanyons and Eifel Towers!
  12. If Halloween Haunt is not possible this year, I'd like to see the fall festival/Oktoberfest concept. They could do a Bavarian tasting card line up, have food trucks and use some of the Grande Carnivale concepts that they already have. I hope things go well for the company.
  13. Dennis Spiegel said one big mistake with KD was not naming it Kings Island. Suppose they had named it Kings Island instead of Kings Dominion. What would you expect to have changed at both Kings Island parks if this had happened?
  14. I have been twice this season. I'm just happy to be in the park and have zero expectations when I go up there. It's quite different than years past where I try and plan everything out to get the most rides in. I've had to work through the pandemic, so I was not deprived on human interaction, but it has been satisfying to be around people but not become overwhelmed by social interaction.
  15. ^Taco Tequila is very good food! It's like a cheaper (and better) version of The Local Taco in Lexington. I also enjoy the converted picnic pavilion food. I think it is called the beir garden?
  16. I never chose to ride Recar. I would not choose to ride it now either as I do not like to go backwards.
  17. They have the distance markers on the ground about 12 feet about. So in the queue lines, in theory, the next cattle pen over is 6 feet away from you and there is 12 feet in front of and behind you. It took a bit for me to figure that out, but once I started stopping at the markers, people behind me started to do the same. This was for Orion. The Beast was a non issue because the line was just on the ramp. Mystic Timbers was challenging. I didn't use the regular queue at Diamondback as a had a front of the line pass. The staggered exit approach seemed to not work so well. People still congregated, but mask compliance was very good.
  18. I have a condition that uses an app on my phone to measure my health status. I have never considered the condition a disability, so I have never used the green sheet. I have zippered pockets and have never had a problem with restraints on any coaster and even made it on to El Toro with the phone. Steel Vengeance was a moot point because I have not visited since the locker policy came into play nor the pockets on the ride vehicle. I did call Cedar Point after this went into effect and was told that I would need to use the green sheet and one of two things would happen: 1. I would leave my phone with the ride attendant who would take it to the drive box. Or 2. I would keep my phone in my pocket while I rode. Unfortunately, my trip to CP had to be canceled so I never got to see what happened. I did not want to use the green sheet, but if I had to, I had to for that ride. I have never had any issue whatsoever with Storm Chaser or Twisted Collusus with the phone in my zippered pocket.
  19. Thanks for sharing all of this! I love this kind of stuff!
  20. Splashin' Safari is at Holiday World. Hurricane Bay is at KK. I'd check the website for the park you are going to for specifics, but I would conjecture that while on water attractions, no mask will be required, but while walking or sunbathing, mask up!
  21. It was the font with the star and line above it. The word "Paramount" was not included.
  22. It was posted on KISP that the giant barrel of Radium XL 200 in Area 72 is actually a repurposed pedestal from the Royal Fountain. Anybody else here hear about that?
  23. Interesting! I did not know that they used the crown logo for retro purposes. I prefer the Disneyland logo an am glad it pops up on some merchandise. I hope to see more of it as 2022 rolls around. I did see a lanyard at the Emporium that had the Disney font, the Paramount logo (without the Paramount name) and the Cedar Fair logo. I was surprised they used the Paramount logo.
  24. Yes, I keep my eyes open for them to snatch them up, but to no avail. Yeah, my thought too. But the Lion Country Safari did not open with KI. I think it was 2-3 years after this. I love mysteries!
  25. Oh, you have read all 2200 of my posts? I'm sorry if pointing out the things that are obvious makes me passive-aggressive and a downer. I have used the ignore option, very recently. If my posts bother you, maybe you should too!
