It's not the rider experience, it's the neighbors at KI who would object to the noise an RMC makes. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

I don't see that happening without a much quieter lift hill. All 4 RMC coasters I've been on are really loud. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

The Junkyard coaster is a fun ride. It's just out of place. I too, hope for a retheming and clean up of the area.

How well does your cell phone work at KI?

Sprint was terrible. AT&T has been good so far. -
Looks like Chef Nate is still here. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/blog/2020/february/join-kings-islands-chefs-for-an-evening-of-great-food-celebrating-new-orion-roller-coaster?fbclid=IwAR1foNp270wNaEummj6ryGcEVG4duYNvoYJs8LaHj4mlebphTU9-gEpPcLU

Coaster experience is subjective. I hated Sierra Sidewinder and have no interest in Time Traveller. My statement was purely self-centered! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

I vote no on a spinner. There are plenty of flats that spin. A coaster doesn't need that gimmick.

I hope Chef Nate is still with us. He has some great ideas and is a nice guy. His Twitter feed was active at the end of January. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Interesting. It was always my understanding that the park tried to sell the ride, even after CF bought the parks.

Most enthusiasts expected props, screens and sounds--which is what we got. There was wild speculation about drop tracks, reverse launches and the like. But if people were disappointed, they set themselves up for it. But, this has been discussed ad nauseum, and this is a Orion thread, so no sense debating it again! [emoji6]

What lesson would they learn? The shed is a great ending to a story line on a themed coaster. I, and many other people, rather enjoy the intricate theming they put into the coaster.

What's in the Kings Island Theatre in 2020?

I really hope this is not the last we see Les Productions Haut Vol at KI. I'd love to see them back for GC, Haunt and Winterfest. -
DDN: 334-site outdoor resort, RV camping planned near Kings Island
BeeastFarmer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
It is beautiful. But I don't know if I would consider it a campground. More so an RV park with some prefab cabins on the perimeter. I'd love to have those prefab cabins at a glampground near KI. Honestly, I would not want to tent camp anywhere in a metro area. Too many unknowns. -
I like what you alluded to there. Very clever!

Any coaster club is going to have positives and negatives. It also is what you make of it. I enjoy ACE, but I have many friends in other clubs, and have thought about joining other clubs as well.

I finally got my page set up today. I am doing a twist--I'm going to match the initial $150 that folks donate to my page with donation to others. Being in the medical field, I know how important laughter and fun is to the recovery process.

I disagree about a HH type of place in RT. We already have an indoor dining/entertainment venue there. The area formerly known as Coney Mall would benefit from an indoor venue.

As Dwight Shrute would say: "NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I dont think a low capacity ride like this would work at KI. I rode X2 and I hated it. I've heard B&M is developing a concept with a wing coaster configuration where the seats would rotate. Maybe that, but I will leave it for other riders.
-
I don't think it works like that. I think KI is its' own general contractor and they hire out different phases of the project. B&M designs to spec, Skyline (or whatever the name of the company is) handles the erection (and probably subs out electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc), KI brings in ride control systems engineers, landscape companies and thematic companies. I used to think B&M would just be paid 30 million for a GiGa and the park just gave them a key to the gate, but I no longer think that way.

ACE Invited to Orion Media day. (Register Feb 7)
BeeastFarmer replied to jimlaheyscar's topic in Kings Island
I thought maybe there was a division in Coaster Crew. Enthusiasts have debated for so long about the definition of "GiGa" and about RMC topper track being Woodies, that maybe the OVC guy nailed a list of grievances on Mike Koontz's office door. This forced the removal of him and his followers, and they rose to the top and founded COCC...Cream Of the Coaster Crew. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk -

@King Ding Dong, I've never heard of COCC. Is it new? It will probably not even get included with Coasterstock! -
Validity of the 5 Year Planing Cycle
BeeastFarmer replied to Phantom Theater's topic in Kings Island
Well, if that were the case, Kentucky Kingdom would have been planning for Lightning Run in 2009 when it was still Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. I think the parks have to be nimble enough in the long term planning to get short term benefits. I'd bet there is a Kings Island 2025 plan out there in a folder somewhere, but things change. -
Cedar Fair Purchases Paramount Parks!
BeeastFarmer replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
^That's always been a gap in my understanding. Taft-KECO-Carl Linder (KI only)….but how did KI come back into the fold before the Paramount years?
