From what I have seen of pictures of this ride I must say that it looks much more impressive than Scooby. Also from the pictures it looks like more of the scenes will have animatronics and various effects coming at the ride vehicles, the mummy scene that has been mentioned by some looks to have a jumper type effect attached to it. Basically a scissor arm that extends the creature towards the vehicle. Should be interesting once the ride opens up. Quite excited and pleased so far. Also I like the new name.

From what I recall, the mummy animatronic in Scooby did the same thing to where it was a jumper effect, although it only "jumped" about less than a foot. Maybe this version will go farther than its original.

I'm going to have a hard time coming back to this... :D I was just at Busch Gardens Europe on opening day, what a crappy day that was, and rode Curse of DarKastle at least 3 or 4 times. I loved it! I really wish Kings Island or even Cedar Point would make this investment. That was a truly great ride.

(And on a side note, Griffon was GLORIOUS!)

Though the same can be said of all theme park operators, there should be a website dedicated to poorly-named Cedar Fair rides, and poorly-thought-out Cedar Fair slogans, and poorly-priced Cedar Fair food.

The highlights:

Diamondback: Your first ride may be your last!

Flight Deck

Beaver Land Mine Ride

Dominator

All Cedar Fair food.

You forgot Come and Smell The Funnel Cakes.

Cedar Point has some great food, as does Dorney Park. Cedar Point has delicious pizza back by Maverick, frozen custard, many love Midway Market...I had had delightful meals at the Boathouse...and Dorney has some excellent pizza and has in the past had excellent kosher food...while it was owned by Cedar Fair.

Let us also not forget the ultra-generic "Drop Tower"...

Are the 3D glasses the old red & green type, or are they the newer polarized variety (like those that are typically used in "4D" movie attractions at parks, or the new crop of 3D films like Avatar)? If they're using the old red & green type you can buy those at Blockbuster for $0.15 a pair...just stock up for the family before heading to KI ;)

Take a wild guess.

My only problem is, there are rides out there that are actually 3D, and startlingly so - Spiderman, DarKastle, Toy Story Midway Mania, and many many more. But the only places I've ever been asked for pay for 3D glasses are Cedar Fair parks. And we're talking about rides that use disposable red and blue ones and aren't really even "3D proper". It makes the park feel like a carnival: "The ride's fine, but there's lots of bright colors inside so maybe, just maybe if you buy these special glasses things will look really crazy!!" It's so gimmicky.

The ride looks very very nice, but the glasses thing is so... expected. And that disappoints me.

BBoBH is fine without the use of 3-D glasses, the use of them would just make the colors pop a little more and a little more depth to the scenes, but it is not the quality 4-D that you get on rides like Curse of Darkastle, Spiderman, Toy Story and the like. These attractions use special projectors and screens to produce this effect where BBoBH the effect is nothing more than what you would see on Circus of Horrors/Carnevil

Ah, someone brought it up earlier. Probably the benchmark for all dark rides (even though, technically its probably not considered one) has to be Spiderman at Universal Studios. Why can't they make a ride like that.

I hope that this isn't the same ride as SDATHC minus Scooby. Also, as a parent- I'm not real crazy on their play on words use of "Boocifer" on a "family" ride. To me that ranks right up there with some of the music they had been playing in the "kids" area last year. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind that music... for me... not for elementary kids.

^ Are you offended by Creulla de Vil?

Boocifer caught my attention too but it's nothing out of the norm. I totally agree about some of the music I heard in the kids area though.

The pics so far make Boo Blasters look great. I'm pretty excited now!

That's why I said there's no 3D "proper." Rides like Spiderman, DarKastle, etc. provide free 3D glasses for extraordinary rides with incredible special effects. Are we really expected to pay $1 or $2 to get cardboard, low quality glasses just in hopes that it makes some of the colors "pop"? If you can get the polarized grey glasses for the Action Theater, surely the same company makes the same style (the plastic, reusable ones) but with the cyan and red lenses. To me, it's just a joke, and again, very expected.

That being said, if the 3D glasses were 25 cents (which would STILL bring in income, I'm sure) I would accept it - two parents and their two kids getting the whole family a set for $1 is fair. But to charge $4 for something that (admittedly) probably doesn't do much at all, and that are literally disposable? Come on. All the people saying "Well you can save them for next time!" Come on... Take a look at a park map by the end of the day - in pockets, in fanny packs, etc. It would be ridiculous to think these glasses will make it home in one piece, much less that they'll be placed somewhere where they can easily be found for next month's trip to the park.

Don't get me wrong - the ride looks great (though I'm not crazy about Boocifer, first of all because it sounds stupid), but the 3D glasses thing is such a rip off. Again, keep in mind this is the same company that still attempts to swindle (yes, swindle) people out of $2 for glasses on Disaster Transport.

I'm not offended by it at all just think they could use better names and leave the "religious" references out completely. The funny part is, hardly anyone will blink an eye on the name "boocifer"- BUT let the hero of the attraction be someone named "Geesus" and they'd be stacking up the petition lines.

(not intended to start a religion tangent; mods- delete this post if it distracts)

I had the opportunity to ride Phantom Theatre way back when I was a little kid and I loved it. Years later I enjoyed Scooby Doo and I'm sure I'll enjoy this new encarnation, but nothing will ever beat (to me) Phantom Theatre (btw, I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera fan).

A question for those who are familar with KI's history - when I went there as a kid they had the ride where you got your own "airplane" and it went up a tower and spun around and you had control of the plane and could roll it. Was that Flight Commander? After that the next time I went to KI was 2007, so a lot had changed! I was devastated that Phantom Theatre was not the same! Prior to going to KI that first time in a long time I hadn't done any research on the park, so I didn't know what to expect! But now I love it!

Why not call him Boo Boo amongst your family members? :)

And I believe the main reason why a ride like Spiderman isn't so widely used is because you're talking about a rather complex ride mechanic which involves a lot, and I mean a LOT, of scheduled maintenance and the possibility of a lot of downtime should it not be handled properly by its owner. This is also coming from a market where the focus is still on massive roller coasters and record-breaking rides. Companies like Cedar Fair and Six Flags believe that enthusiasts and the general public don't care about theming or dark ride experiences; no, they want a Beemer or an Intamin.

And then there are parks like Busch Gardens Williamsburg, which has two of my personal favorite roller coasters, Apollo's Chariot and Griffon, plus incredible rides like Alpengeist and Loch Ness Monster (perhaps even with a B&M flier in the near future), and have incredibly detailed theme, world-class dark rides, relevant and whimsical kid's areas, delicious & fairly-priced food, and tasteful & successful Halloween and Christmas events...

For everyone that is complaining about the Boocifer name, realize that Sally is the ones behind the retheme, seeing as this is their Ghost Blasters ride that has replaced Scooby. This ride has been very successful at other parks and the story and concept are already established. Honestly if you find Boocifer offensive I am sorry for you and your sensativities. Seriously when did we as a country become so PC and sensitive about things? I say if your offended don't visit the park and you will be one less person in line that I must listen to complain... Once again I may be in the minority, but I like the name BBoBH and really like Boocifer.

I still have 3D glasses from Fearfest... yes, that's correct, Fearfest, not Haunt. Back from when The Sewer was an attraction in Festhaus.

I got the text from KIC while I was driving GatorGirl home from the store last night. I waited until I was at a stop light to read it. I told her "We know the name for the old Scooby ride," and she asked, "Was I right? Is it Charlie Brown's Funhouse?" (even though I told her awhile ago it wasn't going to be Peanuts themed, she was hoping I was wrong). I told her her the name and she said "Oh, that sounds fun." Hopefully she likes it, and we can use it to get her ready for more "scary" rides. She wasn't a big fan of The Haunted Mansion at MK (one of my favorites), but of course that was two years ago. And we're thinking of maybe going to Universal and IOA next year, and I'd like her to ride Jaws, Jurassic Park and Spider-Man. We've already talked to her about these rides... she's still a little apprehensive about them, but maybe Boo Blasters can help!

I still never got the newsletter........

I never got it either. I guess I must have dropped off the email list somehow. I'll sign up for it again.
