I also wonder if there is much integrity to in state versus out of state. If a local were to buy a pass and they scanned, could they just type in an out of state zip code?

No, because last year they sent out new passes via good old Snail Mail to the address you have when getting your pass. Wrong ZIP code, pass never arrives, guest never visits.

I meant at the gate.  I wonder if the pass shows a zip code when you scan or if there is a way to manually override it/enter new a one?

I still question if Hart is purposely doing this stuff to make a buck and then leave like an evil business person.

Or is he just so misguided and surrounded himself with yes men that he no longer sees what he is doing in an objective light ...

Would the pass holder even have to type in a zip code, or would the "ticket taker" type it in for them as they walked thru.  It wouldn't be that hard to tell someone to punch in an Indiana zip code, or ohio zip code no matter what the person tells them (if they even ask).  The employee likely doesn't even know why they would input such a number, so likely doesn't care much if its accurate or not.

I don't think the credit card companies send that information to the merchant. I would assume that when an online merchant verifies your billing address, they just send the billing info to the credit card company, who simply responds with a yes or no as to whether it matches (example). I wouldn't think they'd actually give your address to the merchant, especially with a card-present transaction, since that information is not strictly required to complete the transaction.

I bet they would love to sell them that data!

Agree with jgoble3.

Having banking background with Merchant Services, it depends on the processor.  A merchant is charged less in interchange fees the more information they verify on someone's identity; including numbers, names (exactly as it appears), 3-digits on the back, zip code, etc...  This lessens the banks liability if said card is stolen and they end up eating the charge for lack of verification.

It is VERY unlikely that that the bank and the park's front gate software cross verify identity.  Therefore when you pay for a ticket by credit card, that is a different transaction than when you scan a ticket to enter.  The ticket may (or may not) have your name on it- but the bank doesn't cross verify and likewise the park doesn't cross verify with the bank for identity.

They would love to, but they wouldn't love their customer's angry responses when they found out about that violation of their privacy. ;)

Just playing devils advocate here and not expecting you to know the answer here goble.

Is it a violation or a crime to sell certain date from their transactions such as geographic locations via zip codes so a park can see where their money is coming from? As a business owner I might want that data if legally obtainable. I am asking here for I don't know.

I would guess (key word: guess) that it's more likely to be a violation of the credit card companies' own privacy policies, coupled with the average person's expectation of privacy, i.e. the expectation that you're not going to freely give my complete contact information to any person who comes asking for it. Same way I've given my phone number to several people on here, and expect them to keep it private and not randomly give that number out to anyone they feel like.

I don't know if there is a law regarding this, but you don't need a law for people to get angry and feel violated.

This morning, via Facebook, the park said that T3 will be open to the public on May 30th.

They have been reminding folks all week that the park will NOT be open to the General Public this weekend. There are tens of people upset they cannot visit their favorite park.

If KK never intended to open on the dates that they said to check back for, why put them on the calendar in the first place?  Their FB posts are littered with confused guests.

Also, why are they having companies renting out the park in mid-May?  They're squandering what little demand they have.

To KK- Running an amusement park- you're doing it wrong.

Forums are free publicity children. Some are good, others not so much. But it gets the name out there and people interested. I usually find that true with topics like this, Starting To Decode 2014(AKA YoungStud's playground), Son of Beast. It gets people out to the parks to see what exactly is going on and see what is being discussed.

And keeps at least one user here outside the gates.

If it was thought for one minute that'd shush that user...

Note though that several posters who normally

rush in to defend their park for its every inane action have suddenly shushed.

I doubt that is a coincidence.

Meanwhile, every day in every way that fateful November day draws closer.

And that huge amount of favorable publicity that The New Kentucky Kingdom got by being open, being new? That's gone, now.

2015--Customers must be earned--not turned away at the gate.

There's an important allegory there.

Fortunately, I pay DC taxes. Were I a Kentucky taxpayer, I'd be on a statewide speaking tour by now, telling Ballard, Boyd, Menifee, Pike and on and on taxpayers on what and how their tax dollars are being spent. "Are you being served? Should your tax dollars be spent on chills and thrills? In Louisville? See this old school? See this pot hole? Look at T3? How many pot holes could be filled with that?"

Unlike here, the talk on the FB page can get nasty at times. Some folks are VERY upset the park is closed for private events and very uninformed.

They think that being a Pass Holder entitles them to park access anytime the park is open..........like Pass Holders at Kings Island and Holiday World. :(

Fine Print..........read it...................always.....even if it is more obvious than fine.

Actually, I'm already seeing ads for the Kentucky election airing on TV here in Cincinnati and all have alluded to misspending by the current regime.  I have a feeling KK will be a key part of those arguments.

EDIT: Spelling error.

I have said to people that KI does that every year.
