I have found my self doing this more and more recently as I am planning my first trip of the season!

YKItOSW, with less than a week to go, I transfer from anticipation and excitement, to panic that I've become too soft in the past few months to handle a day of hiking all over the park. And I still haven't found my stupid coin purse I like to carry smashed penny supplies in.

...tonight, you will slowly start going insane and won't be cured until Opening Day next year.

For me, KIC becomes Kings Island during the off-season.  My mind goes to my favorite table at the Festhaus patio (the one with the perfect view of Delirium and Banshee, as well as seeing all the happy, amazed faces of new guests emerging from the canopy of the trees, all awestruck by their first views of those awesome KI rides), and the conversation and fellowship on this site bridges the long, winter months perfectly!

When you are sitting at home thinking about a job application for next season.

When you arrive home and come upon a Christmas rush as "When KI closes, Christmas opens!". *

* Note that i usually take a few days after Halloween to finish celebrating then put up Christmas decor (occasionally withHalloween decor for a bit of Nightmare Before Christmas flare!).

When they told you yesterday "See you next year."

When you start watching parks' Facebook pages and websites for news of next year's enthusiast events that you want to hit so you can start planning for next season.

When you spend hours on Google Maps trying to find the perfect travel route for the parks you want to hit next year...

When you actually spend time on KIC because it is your link to all things amusement park related.

I have noticed that I do spend a significantly more time here in the offseason...

When you change your KIC profile pic 5 times in a day...

Yep, the boards do get busier in the off season.

I know it's the off season when the depression sets in.

That's what we're all here for - to chase away the off-season blues!

...when swimming season starts. There was a meeting during lunch today for those interested in swimming, and there's the winter sports meeting on Thursday. First practice of the season is November 9 at 7 p.m.; I will be starting my third year on the Xenia Christian varsity swim team.

 

It makes the next four months go by a little more quickly (along with Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, my birthday, school musical auditions/rehearsals, and of course the Photo Contest!).

When you check the webcams every chance you get to see if Diamondback's and Banshee's trains have been removed.

When you vow to visit parks more often than you did last year (really, didn't make it as often as I wanted)

When Kings Island starts posting videos and pictures of the Royal Fountains drained, the trains from Shake, Rattle and Roll being removed, etc. on their Instagram page.
